Debian :: Install Wireless Network Card On Desktop?

you may download the driver and install it yourself; once you've succeeded, I am a one-time Linux convert and quitter that gave up on Linux a long time ago, because frankly it is too complicated and I'm just a user who needs to get things done today, not in the few weeks time it takes to figure these things out. Since Debian Squeeze got released I wanna test it out, but my PCI card, ASUS PCE-N13 needs to be set up.
Driver install too technically advanced.
The accompanying instructions are far from self-evident:

Yesterday I installed a RaLink RT2800 802.11n PCI on my squeeze system. Now I have a connection to Internet but I can not connect other systems in my home network. An ssh-try to a system in my home network results in: ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 22: No route to host If I use my eth0, I do not have connection to Internet, but I can connect other systems in my home network.
During the installation process, configure the network installation process requires, as a result of my wireless network card can not be drived, It is not possible to continue with the installation,please help me.
I installed 10.3 (after buying it a couple of years ago and letting sit on the shelf) and can't get it to configure my ethernet connection or my wireless card. Yast doesn't include a list of available cards, and the error I get in installation-network setup is that the kernel isn't present. The machine I'm installing this on is a Lenovo, in which there isn't a discrete ethernet card (it's in the motherboard), but my wireless card (a Cisco LINKSYS 802.11G) is a discrete card. Because I'm divorcing Microsoft for a number of valid reasons, I don't have Windows available on that box.
I'm trying to install the driver for mi wireless card. The instructions say that to build the tar.gz file, I have to:
# mkdir hybrid_wl # cd hybrid_wl # tar <path>/hybrid-portsrc.tarhybrid-portsrc-x86_64.tar.gz
The third step i don't understand. I want the folder of the driver to be located in a folder inside home called "Programas" so what I did was to open the terminal, went su, and then did cd Programas. Then I followed instructions 1 and 2, but I don't know what to put where it says <path>.
i just installed debian after about 2 weeks of using ubuntu afterriend suggested switching, and it's not detecting my wireless card in the network settings. i'm new at linux so try to keep it simple if you can please,i read the sticky about this and here's the info it said i should provide

I am trying to install Debian Lenny via Hyper-V. I get to the point where it asks for the network card. For some reason it can not find my network card. I have a RealTek (RTL8112L PCIe Gigabit LAN controller featuring AI NET 2 built on motherboard).
For some reason it doesn't see it. My issue is if I continue without the network how am I getting the drivers? Unfortunately Hyper-V doesn't support USB. I guess I can try to burn to CD but not looking to waste a cd for 480k and not sure that will work as I only see a auto.sh and a couple other files under scr directory. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. This is a fairly new Motherboard/NIC so I do not understand why it isn't recognized. I know it cant have everything but Realtek is a fairly common nic.

The problem with my wireless network. I have Dell DV6 Pavilion 2115 eg laptop and i installed Ubuntu 11.4 and internet and wireless worked, until i reboted my system it has disapear. I cant no longer to connect to a wireless network. It dont shows me any wireless network. My wireless card is Atheros AR 9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi Adapter
I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.
my wireless home network is not recognized by my network card (RealTek RTL8190 mini PCI). The post was as follows: "I am using a new computer with Windows 7 , Athlon quad core 2.60 64 bit, 8GB RAM. I was looking for windows XP drivers to use Ndiswrapper but could not find a list of .inf files. My network is OK and works perfectly in windows and with my 2 laptops. I am new to this and thouroughly confused as to the procedure for installing the drivers if they are in fact available."
I am very frustrated in that I would like to use Ubuntu 10.04 but it is useless without internet connectability. I am new to linux and do not understand where to get the appropriate drivers or how to install them. I wish someone would answer this post and either give me a clue what to do or just say "give up" and uninstall ubunutu.
I've installed the Ubuntu 10.04 Server onto a PPC G4 Mac just for the experience of setting up a server. During the installation process Ubuntu couldn't auto-configure my DHCP Network. I'm using the airport card on a wireless network. How can I manually configure the network once Ubuntu is installed.
I am running SLED 11 and My Networkcard is Intel PRO/Wireless 5300. In short, it is not there anymore! I mean I was connected and everything and the next time I restarted It could not detect any wireless network. I deleted the wireless network card in hopes that the OS will automatically detect it on startup and set it right but NOPE. When I check the hardware information in YAST, it is listed there and it is also working under Windows.

I try to install Debian 8 on my desktop PC that has a wireless network card.I had already used this computer with debian 7 and I could use my problem-free network connection.

During the installation, a message occured to ask me to load a firmware (rtlwifi/rtl8192cfw.bin) which is loaded from a USB key.After this, Debian-installer seems to find my wireless card but can not find wireless network.I have this message, translated from French: "The search for an available wireless network failed" and I can enter an ESSID but inconclusive.
Any recommendations as to what card to use? Have Netgear WPN311 and can't find a driver that works. Reading recent posts, sounds like 10.04 is a wireless wasteland.
I'm thinking of adding a wireless antenna to my desktop since I want to get rid of the cable going outside my window into the other room. I know some cards have trouble with their drivers or performance in Ubuntu so I was wondering if there's a way of finding the best brand and model to get so I know I won't have any problems with it on my Ubuntu installation. A webpage, a place where people post their cards and how good they perform or something like that which can help me get the easiest one to work with. The card would be installed via PCI and the room with the router is pretty much in front of this one.
Unfortunately, due to the layout of my new apartment I'm going to have to run my desktop PC with a wireless card instead of a wired connection.
Googling turns up a lot of out-of-date information on hardware compatibility for Linux and PC wireless cards. Could anyone provide a suggestion or two for known-good, 2.6-kernel compatible PC wireless cards?
I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

Also, I've been doing some research and found out about some file located /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. So I looked in mine and found out that only my eth0 is added.
I have been trying to find a wireless card that will readily work with Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop. Preferably an +802.11 N with an indoor range of between 300 to 400 ft. with possibly two antennas. Am finding many that say linux on the box but find that it ain't so. Also most times with no instructions or very convoluted process that results in errors.
I have a dwa-125 dlink wireless card which will not work. This is my first time using OpenSuse 11.2 (Well OpenSuse period). I had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10 as well. If it will help the solution I used with Ubuntu is here: [ubuntu] Dlink DWA-125 Wireless Card Issue - Page 4 - Ubuntu Forums. I'd rather use OpenSuse than Ubuntu.
I can't get on the Internet at all not even through Ethernet. (It recognized my Ethernet hardware but doesn't connect.) I got the broadcom-wl drivers from Packman and installed those and it still was a no go. I tried to get the drivers straight from Broadcom and those didn't work. I couldn't compile the source code from the Brodcom site because i could not get build installed (got make installed but build just didn't install.)

So decided to try a fresh install as ubuntu was having issues every update for me. Regardless i can't seem to get my wireless working and i'd really appreciate some help as i have no idea what i'm doing.
Using a hp pavilion dv5 1235dx.So my network card does show up it's a broadcom 4312 pci id 4315.Installed the b43 & wl drivers but it didn't help. The hardware switch is stuck at orange but in ubuntu it would function despite this(sometimes ).
