Aug 12, 2009installing my wireless card Atheros AR9285.I have tried to get it working with both compat wireless - Ath9k driver but I dont know exactly how to do.I have also tried to get it to work with ndiswrapper, but it is really tricky because nothing is available in centos like precompiled ndiswrapper.I used to work with Arch Linux so everything in Centos is totally new to me and I don�t understand a thing:I need to get it to work as soon as possible.What I have read the should go to just "activate" the ath9k driver with my card and it would work,

Mar 30, 2010I bought this new computer with an Atheros AR9285 wireless adapter, signal dropped out after a couple of minutes, sometimes reconnected, I looked up different posts on [URL] and [URL].
First I installed linux-backports and linux-backports-wireless, still dropped. Then I installed compat-wireless-2.6.33 and it still dropped. Finalley I blacklisted the driver with gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ath_pci.conf and it still drops. What should I do, it seems to pick it up again after 30 sec or so, but it a bit frustrating.
P.S.: It seems to be getting much better now that I have the torrent program shut down.

Nov 5, 2010I've a big trouble that curses me for months. I've an Asus K52Jc laptop with wireless card Atheros AR9285, Ubuntu 10.10 and this network set-up: a WDSL (so an antenna on my house) wired to a switch; the switch shares connection through 2 ethernets cables: one to my uncle house, one to my router Netgear DG834v5.If I connect my laptop via ethernet, internet works good, if I connect to my router, wireless works (I can ping my router), but no internet. I've been helped a lot in official ubuntu chat: after some tries we understood that the problem aren't drivers, isn't Netgear, but probably it's something messed up in routes or arp cache.Anyway note that I have also some difficulties to ping my router, on 3 tries he often loses 1 or 2 packets.

Apr 26, 2011I had U10.10 installed prior to running U10.10 Desktop, and the wlan worked flawlessly on that.My understanding is that the packages are the same and so this should be installed with Desktop, however it will not action the final connection. The wlan is finding networks and prompts for the Key when connecting, but it never actually connects.

Nov 3, 2010I'm facing problems with Fedora13 and the AR9285 wifi card... the connection is just too slow, and the wired connection works fine. I just figured out that a lot of VAIO users (so am I) were in the same situation, and solved their problem by downloading ath9k drivers from linuxwireless.org. Fine, I did it! That's what I found :

...but make is looking for source files in /usr/src/kernels/2.6.34-7-61.fc13.x86_64/build/ , which doesn't exist! The /usr/src/kernels/ folder is just empty. I also found something about the fact that Fedora13 didn't came with kernel's source files... So how can I install that driver? (I didn't find the package via yum...)

Mar 13, 2010I have a Samsung N150 netbook with Atheros AR 9285 WiFi card. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it, although this problem happens on other distros too (Network Remix 9.10, OpenSuse 11.2) My wifi card and networks get detected. The problem is when I try to connect to my network, which is protected by WPA key (I don't know if it matters whether it's WPA or not). After I input my network key, the network manager is trying to connect, but obviously cannot, because just prompts me for password again. I can connect without problems to this network from my other computer running WinXP

Dec 31, 2010I have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.

Those are my authentication capabilities, obviously. I am using a WEP encryption for my wireless router and according to this, it will not allow me to connect. Is there anyway to allow that? The wireless card works just fine in Windows, even on the same network encryption type. Using a Intel Wireless/Pro 4965 ag. Note* this is my mother's router and whatnot. She won't change it the encryption type.

Jun 30, 2011I installed a Tenda W322P wireless card in my dual-boot PC running both Windows XP and Ubuntu 11.04. The card worked straight out of the box on XP, but does not function correctly under Ubuntu. My apologies for any missing/irrelevant information, I am having to post this from the Windows boot so the Ubuntu settings are not directly available at the same time as internet access.I followed the process detailed here htURL...to install and configure the driver (I believe from reading other sites that this card is the Ralink RT3062 chipset), blacklisted the original RT2860 driver that was in use (couldn't even get the card to scan for wireless networks with the default driver) and restarted the interface.
Since then, sudo iwlist scan can find my wireless router but when I attempt to connect to it, it seems to enter a loop of requesting the WEP key then pausing for a while before re-requesting the key. I know I have the key value correct because it is copied and pasted from the same text file I used to copy and paste into the passkey field on the Windows boot. Attempting to connect to the router using Ubuntu also has the rather unfortunate side-effect of crashing the wireless router, killing off all other device connections until the router has been reset.

Dec 26, 2010I'm working with 10.10 (Maverick) on an older Compaq laptop. Wireless card is a Cisco Aironet 350. This card is listed as supported and drivers included in the server distro.
During the Network configuration portion of the install, I selected eth1 (wireless); the card came active and a valid network connection was established.
However, after the full server installation the interface (eth1) is not seen.
What's confusing is that modprobe -l shows the drivers as present:
kernel/drivers/net/wireless/airo.ko
kernel/drivers/net/wireless/airo_cs.ko
Insertion and removal of the card is noted in /var/log/messages:
pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket1 pccard: card ejected from slot 1
pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket1 pccard: card inserted into slot 1
(I'd be happy to supply more info, but currently set up with Fluxbox and I'll be darned if I can get copy from the xterm to paste into Firefox...)

Mar 28, 2010A friend who switched ISP's gave me his old Linksys WRT54-G wireless router. I went through the installation procedure and had a wireless connection up and running - smiley face. I had security set up for WPA, and decided to upgrade it to WPA2. Another smiley face. When I went to connect (had already done so successfully), I noticed it referred to my wireless as Linksys - I was expecting to see the SSID. So I started playing around in Network Manager and now I have things all effed up.
Don't know exactly what I did, but now I have no wireless. So I ran a few commands (lshw -C network, iwconfig, ifconfig, and iwlist scan), and looking at the results I see what appear to be inconsistencies in the output. I've posted them below, and make the following observations:
1. Under the lshw it refers to my wireless connection logical name as wmaster0, and has the correct MAC address, etc.
2. Under the iwconfig it says, 'wmaster0 no wireless extensions', but then refers to wlan0 as the wireless connection (although it does not seem to be running).
3. Under ifconfig I see both a wlan0 and a wlan0:avahi. The wlan0 has no IP, the wlan0:avahi does, but it is incorrect.

Dec 4, 2010Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.
