Ubuntu Networking :: Installing SMC USB Ez Connect G Wireless Adapter?

Apr 19, 2010

I have Ubuntu 9.10, which I just now installed on my Dell Dimension 3000. The computer has all of its USB ports working perfectly; tested in Windows. I plugged in my SMC USB Ez Connect g wireless adapter, and it isn't even recognized by the system. I used lsusb, and nothing except the USB keyboard and mouse shows up. Every time I boot or shut down, I get tons of errors saying that it's "unable to enumerate USB device on Port...," then the port number of whichever port I plug the wireless adapter into. I've tried using ndiswrapper, and have completely installed the Windows drivers using that (which were the same ones that worked perfectly in Windows XP Pro). I've tried looking into compat-wireless and Linux Wireless, and have successfully installed the zd1211rw drivers and everything. The drivers install completely and work, there is just no hardware present, or so it says. This is what the terminal says when I type dmesg, and also part of what shows up on booting and shutdown:

[code]....

I hope I've given enough information. Oh, and I downloaded Ubuntu a few days ago from their website, burned to a CD-R, installed, and downloaded all updates that it asked me to. Other than that and the ndiswrapper and driver installation, I've done nothing on the system.

On my desktop, I have Windows 7. I just also installed ubuntu on a partition in order to dual-boot. The installation worked fine, however now I cannot use the internet on either os. I have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller On Windows 7, the LAN flashes from "Enabled" -> "Identifying" -> "Network cable unplugged". It does this on a seemingly continuous loop. When I disable it, it will not let me enable it. It says it can't start. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed the driver for my ethernet with no change. On Ubuntu, when I try to do "ifconfig eth0 up" and "dhclient eth0" I get the message "No DHCPOFFERS received. No working leases in persistent database - sleeping."

Ubuntu Networking :: Installing Wireless USB Adapter: Belkin FD4050?

Apr 11, 2010

am running Ubuntu 10.04 ... only because for some reason that is the only version that will load onto my IBM pentium 4 desktop! I installed ndisgtk, ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 by using the Synaptic Package Manager GUI. Using Windows Wireless Drivers GUI, I installed the driver rt 2870 off the Belkin CD that came with the product. Status is "Hardware present: Yes"

here is the status of my lsusb and iwconfig:

finn@finn-desktop:~$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 045e:008c Microsoft Corp. Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 050d:935a Belkin Components

It seems I have ndiswrapper working (I think!) ... but i still can't connect my wireless.

Ubuntu Networking :: 10.04 - Installing Driver For ZEW1642S Wireless Adapter

I don't have access to a wired internet connection, but I can use the wireless on my windows 7 fine. It seems like there is no driver for it to work on ubuntu, and since I don't have an internet connection while in ubuntu, it seems I can't update it of course because I need internet to update. My wireless network does NOT have a password if that even means anything for this. I have the exe installer for the driver for it but I don't know how I'm supposed to get the INF file or whatever.

Debian Installation :: No Ethernet Card Detected

Jul 28, 2015

I am installing Linux for the first time right now and I am facing a bit of an issue when it comes to network hardware driver installation. The NIC on my motherboard is a Marvel 88E1111 (computer is very old). During the installation of Debian, I got to a menu which read "No Ethernet card detected. If you know the name of the driver needed by your Ethernet card you can select it from the list", then provides me with said list of driver names.

However, the only driver I could find that came close the NIC I am using was one called just "Marvel", and selecting actually didn't do anything (screen flashes blue and returns me to the same menu). So I continued by selecting the "none of the above" option, and now the new menu reads: "A driver for your hardware is not available. You may need to load drivers from removable media (...)". So I thought I should google for the drivers and see what I can find. The official site of the company that made my NIC doesn't even list my model in their drivers' list (to be expected since it is so old).

Then I found this: URL.., but I was expecting more of a download than the source code itself.
