View 4 Replies View RelatedRight so I managed to fix this once, by installing the wine.i686 instead of the x86_64, but now it's back. So I removed the 686 package and installed the x86_64 package again, no go. I get a fairly sizey list of memory dumps. The audio is working on everything else. But winecfg keeps crashing when I click the audio tab.This is on a Packard bell with ATI chipset, an ATI tech Azalia (Intel HDA) soundcard, an AMD Turion 64x2.I'm running FC12 on the 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64 kernel, the version of wine is 1.1.38.x86_64 (right now) on kde 4.4.2

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with current updates. I installed MS Office 2007 suite using WINE - the other users are not comfortable with OpenOffice. There are no issues with the installation, but it is in my user home path so it doesn't appear in the WINE config when I log in as another user. Should I start over with a generic user account and re-install Office/ WINE under that user?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently been trying to restore a Debian installation back to it's previous state after a serious operation system crash. Efforts are largely going well however I've run into problems since reinstalling Wine. Previously I could execute a Windows executable by simply entering ./executable.exe in the bash shell but this no longer seems to work as now I have to include the "wine" command in front of the executable. how to configure Debian to automatically use Wine to execute using the ./executable.exe format?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm a beginner to Ubuntu so this is probably an easy question, but: I installed a windows application using Wine and that worked, it launched the application just fine. But now after restarting the computer I can't see how to run that application again. It would be nice to make a desktop icon for it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a windows app I run under wine that always displays a blank dos window first when I run it directly from a link to application on my desktop.I wrote a bash script to run it and put that in a link to application and that works without the blank dos window. Why doesn't the first way work?
Long version:I have a small old windows application that stores all my passwords. I like it because it's simple and I can access it (dual boot) from Windows or Linux. It just displays a very simple window with a list of accounts and clicking on one of those opens a child window with the details. It has no graphics or anything fancy. On the windows side, installing it
was as simple as unzipping it and creating a desktop shortcut for it - no setup at all.
On the Linux side (kubuntu hardy), I created a link to application on my desktop with Command set to
wineconsole /media/windoze/Program Files/Passkeeper/pass32.exe and work path set to/media/windoze/Program Files/Passkeeper
It works fine, but when I start it up, I always get a blank dos window on the screen first and then the application window appears. I have to manually minimize the dos window to get it out of the way. It does nothing useful by itself. But, if I close it, it closes the application with it.I tried to run it as as wine instead of wineconsole, but that does nothing at all - at least on the screen and dmesg.
How do I know what sound system my Centos 5.5 install is using and how would I configure which soundcard output to use? I want to use the digital coax output from my M-Audio PCI soundcard, which appears to be detected and loaded. When I launch MPD, it autodetects an alsa sound system, but programs like alsamixer don't exist and I can't hear any sound out of the digital coax output. I haven't checked the 3.5mm stereo out yet.A little confused as to which documentation to be looking at at this point.
View 9 Replies View Relatedadmit I don't know everything and right now I am at my wit's end trying to figure out this one.The system is: F13 x86_64; GNOME (compiz turned off); wine-1.1.38-1.fc13.i686 and nvidia er from RPM Fusion xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-195.36.24-1.fc13.x86_64The problem is: When I run a fullscreen app in Wine, switch virtual desktops and switch back, the fullscreen app has shrunk. This did not occur on F12 prior to upgrading to F13.The app itself seems to have not noticed it was resized; on checking its configuration panel it seems to still think it's running full screen.What I want to know is whether the problem is in Wine, the video driver, or the window manager, or somewhere else, so that I can report it to the right people (or just fix it).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am brand new to this forum! I have spent some time on other Linux forums but based on my usage of CentOS I figured that it would be best to come straight to the pros. I've been using CentOS for a while now, mostly as a web server. Actually I use it as the base and installed Parallels Plesk Control Panel.
Anyway I want to setup a VPN and so far I haven't found any real solid documentation on how to do that! Yes I could install DAG/RPM Forge but what I really want to know how to do it from scratch. What I mean by scratch is that I want to download the tar.gz package from openvpn.net and then build it as required. I don't know much about building or compiling a package so that is why I have come here for help! I am guessing that I need to compile openVPN with openSSL and probably a few other packages... I could use openSWAN but I don't want to.
Can someone explain how to install Wine 1.3.7 on CentOS 5.5?
View 4 Replies View RelatedNow i have 64 bit computer i installed Slackware 23 64 bit on it. i followed Alien Bob's multi lib how to and installed needed libraries one by one. everything is fine expect wine configure script can not find some libraries needed: libgsm, libmpg123, libopenal, libxcomposite.
I have already installed 32 bit compatibility packages and used /etc/profile.d/32bit.sh as recommended in Alien Bob's howto. configure -- does not really list anything for pointing for libraries.
I've tried downloading the RPM file on their website, But I always get an unknown error message.how to do this? Like what commands should I Run, etc. I'm VERY new to linux, and every time I read a guide one command seems to be for one os, and the other command for another.

I have already downloaded version wine-1.1.37
Let me start by saying I'm new to CentOS. But we're getting a server with CentOS soon so I'm experimenting on a virtual machine for the moment. One of the things I'm going to test requires me to have wine installed on the CentOS box. I found that to install wine I need to use the command "yum install wine". When doing this nothing really happens. I get the following output on the screen:
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: centos.crazyfrogs.org
* updates: base: centos.crazyfrogs.org
* addons: base: centos.crazyfrogs.org
* extras: base: centos.crazyfrogs.org
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package wine available Nothing to do.
I've already issued the "yum upgrade" command but my problem still remains.
Does anybody know of this issue or is there anybody who can help me with this?
