Debian Configuration :: Configure To Automatically Use Wine To Execute Using The ./executable.exe Format?

I've recently been trying to restore a Debian installation back to it's previous state after a serious operation system crash. Efforts are largely going well however I've run into problems since reinstalling Wine. Previously I could execute a Windows executable by simply entering ./executable.exe in the bash shell but this no longer seems to work as now I have to include the "wine" command in front of the executable. how to configure Debian to automatically use Wine to execute using the ./executable.exe format?

This looks like an issue of 10.10, in 10.04 I execute my windows aplications with wine without a problem, now I cant, see the screenshot, I need a solution, how I disable that security issue?, or how can I activate the executable bit, because it doesnt allow me to change anything of my windows files because this security issue, please help needed, I need that aplications running.

A few days ago I booted up my computer as normal and loaded vista. It loaded fine, but then froze at the login window. I restarted my computer but this time when I tried to load vista I got the "Error 13" message. Ubuntu still loads up fine however.
I'm fairly certain that I'm using Grub - Legacy, and since most posts that I see post the contents of the menu.lst file, I will too Code: # menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8)

while trying to get a game to work on wine I was surprised to find out that the wine version that ships with sid is 1.0.1 released in October 2005. So I installed the latest release I found at [URL] like this :
dpkg -i wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
The install failed, I think because I hadn't remove the old wine version, and that's when the joy-ride started. Impossible to remove wine to restart properly. (apt-get remove libwine wine and apt-get -f install didn't) After some googling I tried this :
dpkg -i --force-depends wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
This did install the wine version I wanted, and the game ran fine after that. However the result was a borked apt-get. Tried to remove wine again with the above commands, resulting in apt-get failing to do so because it tried installing wine-unstable and reported errors similar to these : E: Could not perform immediate configuration on 'wine-unstable'. see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details. I'm connected to the internet using a wireless router. Each time I boot, I have to grant root privileges and type in a shell: iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys key dhclient wlan0 Isn't there a file(or location) that I can modify to automatically grant root privileges and execute these commands when debian starts? Something like autoexec.bat in windows.
Something else I'd like to mention is when I execute iwconfig.... for the first time, I get this incomplete result:

I have a PC104 running debian. I have 3 hard drives (in addition to the one booting) mounted in fstab by UUID. I use the options defaults,error=remount-ro. However, this means that when I boot with the hard drives not attached, I have to press Ctrl-D to bypass when the boot discovers the drives are missing. Is there a timeout commandoption I can add to fstab so that it automatically continues booting even if the hard drives are not attached? I could not find anything on a timeout command. (I tried adding timeout=1000 but no-random guess)

Using Ubuntu 9.10/Epson Perfection V5001) I downloaded and extracted VueScan 9.0.08.2) The executable does not execute.3) Trying a cmd line execution (./vuescan) I get "./vuescan /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by ./vuescan)
4) However, libc.so.6 (link to shared lib) is located at /lib///cmov. It is linked to libc-2.10.1.so (shared lib) which is also located in /etc///cmov.So what may be the problem? My scanner works with Xsane, Iscan & VueScan 8.6.08. Unfortunately, Ed Hamrick (www.hamrick.com) does not support this type of problem(linux library compatibility issues), though a very nice application when the versions are compatible for Linux.

I have been having trouble setting up a daily backup script with cron. It would basically never worked. Searched the net for answers but didn't find anything. I finally figured it out !! When root crontab is edited the execute flag is removed from #/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root. I change it with #chmod a+x /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root and all is good.

I downloaded a program called tonespace http://www.mucoder.net/en/tonespace/ which I extracted and then tried to execute the executable file with ./tonespace. This gives me the following message:
bash: ./tonespace: No such file or directory
When I use the command: file ./tonespace I get this: tonespace: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, stripped
I dont get it. The file is clearly there, yet when trying to execute it bash doesn't seem to recognize it.
It has permissions rwxr-xr-x and is not owned by root. Am I overlooking something?

I have a copy of "Riven" for Windows 95 still laying around, and I decided to see if I could run it in WINE just for the hell of it. I got the following error when I tried to run the "Setup.exe" file (or any other executable on the CD-ROM, for that matter) using WINE:

I would like to start with simple example:
1. Create a "Hello world" executable.
2. Attach files to it.
3. Add the code in in "Hello" executable to extract the files to a custom location.
1st is simple.
For second, above mentioned article suggest that CArchive can be created using Python. It means you can create a CArchive using "hello" executable and other files. How do you do that using Python?
For 3rd, I need more info about the implementation using C.

I recently got the information that Windows software do not run in Linux as such. In order to run these software (Running the software also includes installing the software by running the set-up executable file) I need to install 'wine' on my system and then run the set-up files from within this 'wine'. I therefore wish to install 'wine' on my system in order to run the corresponding Windows set-up files (which are executable files). I am running Linux Mint version 10 on my system.

I have PCI-device and driver for it - tmk1553b.ko
The problem is to make this device work i have to open terminal after system starts and write

sudo insmod ./tmk1553b.ko d0=1 t0="TAI" misc=1
But idea is that this PC will work without operator so driver must be loaded automatically. As i realized the solution is to make script but when i try google it shows me how and where to put this script but not how to make it. Also i've tried to put tmk1553b.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.32-5-686/kernel/drivers/misc but it doesn't work.

I've just installed Debian 8.2 KDE 64bit, installed wine, and found that a 32-bit Windows program (Agent newsreader) could not see the linux system fonts. (This worked fine on Kubuntu 14.04)
Since this is the first time that I've installed Debian, I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious or if this is an actual bug.
Steps to reproduce:
Fresh install of Debian 8.2 KDE 64bit.
apt-get install wine
wine wordpad # this is a small word-processor for wine that is supplied with wine
menu -> format -> font
all linux fonts are visible -- so far so good
Because I want to use a 32bit program, I now have to do this, I understand:
dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update
apt-get install wine-bin:i386
But after that,if I run "wine wordpad" and look at the fonts, all the linux system fonts are gone. The only fonts visible are the nine that are built into wine (Courier, Fixedsys, Marlett etc..) So installing the i386 wine support seems to have broken something.

Has someone tried to build and install wine in squeeze? I tried follow different manuals (e.g. [URL].. but always run into lots of warnings, missing packages and abortion of make. No wonder, squeeze seem to be pretty different from lenny.
I installed the binary wine, but that does not help in my case. There is a kind of bug in code for the mouse that can be fixed only by applying a patch. So anyone want to build wine and write down all the actions?

brand new Squeeze box built toady - I'm trying to install a init script and I want it to start last and only in runlevel 2...
The script "test" is executable and located in /etc/init.d
so I run update-rc.d -f test start 2 95 - I expect /etc/rc2.d/S95test but instead get S01test
On my Lenny boxes symlinks in /etc/rc2.d are in the S10 - S99 range but the Squeeze box has the same services in the S01-S06 range?
Did something change in Squeeze?
I also tried creating the symlinks in rc2.d manually but the script never ran...

I wanted to clean up /usr/share/bin and only have the executable "eclipse" in there. I created a a directory Eclipse and moved everything but the executable into it, you guessed , that doesn't work so well. So what I'm wondering is there a way I could put all these other files and subdirectories somewhere else, maybe /usr/local/src and have just the one executable in /usr/local/bin?Is this where ln comes in? I've been googling all afternoon to fix this error I get. The situation is as follows: I have multiple harddrives (3x320gb and 1x160gb) all on the SATA interface. One of these drives contains Windows, and the rest I use for programs and downloads. I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 from a USB-stick using the installer's partitioner to make some room for Ubuntu (Ext4 filesystem). I've tried Ubuntu and SUSE in the past.

After coming home one evening I found my server was turned off. My suspicions lead me to believe we had a storm and the power went off, then the UPS went off and finally at that point the server went off too. I think my server was set to allow security updates. After it turned of and restarted it seems it made a change to Grub and upgraded it to Grub2. In doing so I now get the following message:
Error 13: Invalid or un supported executable format
I have tried to do the following:
