CentOS 5 Networking :: ZyDAS Virtual Media For 802.11bg - Wireless USB Device Not Working

I just installed Centos 5.4 on the 2nd partion of my hard drive. I have an ethernet card in my machine (a 3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang] card), but I need to be able to use my wireless USB device I bought from my local phone company (Qwest)...because I will not always have the luxury of plugging in to a hard-wired connection. The USB wireless device works fine in Windows, but I need to be able to use it on my newly installed Centos 5.4 partition.
I'm new to ubuntu and using 9.10. I have installed a dlink wua 2340 wireless adaptor and it is working properly. But after waking up computer by standby mode, wireless connection breaks and the wireless device is not mounted. Therefore I always have to shut down the computer and restart again to establish wireless connection.
When i am trying to access the any directory other on port *80, its not being accessible from the static ip which is routed through a DMZ server. http://122.165.35.9:8085 something like this returns the error "could not connect to web browser"
i have some basic knowledge about device drivers.can any one tell how to write drivers for virtual modem, Actually my project is to implement communication between the two PCs by using two virtual modems. so for that i need to write the code for the virtual modem which it should understand all the AT commands exactly as physical modem and it should send/receive call and SMS.
I have spent considerable hours searching forums and googling. I have yet to find out what "lm-sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:" is actually looking at. I have an Abit IP35 motherboard with Ubuntu 9.04 installed.

Virtual Device Temp 1 keeps going up to 121 degrees and the computer shuts down. None of the others overheat. Also, my bios does not show my voltages to be set like it lists above. The bios in the motherboard is the latest from Abit.
The computer networking works fine with a normal static setup, but adding a USB wireless device is not successful. It is my own network so the wpa-ssid and wpa-psk are known to work with Lenny and a previous wireless device.The device is recognized (lsusb) and the driver is confirmed to be in the kernel (lsmod). Here is the iwconfig output:

After typing: ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.144 up I can ping that address, but it is not working. I have just done a fresh install of Sid so that I could get the 2.6.35 kernel which contains the ath9k_htc driver for the USB wireless device that I am using. The firmware is ar9271.fw but my source of that is questionable because it does not seem readily available. I am temporarily using a PCMCIA wired connection which is what I am using to connect to the computer via telnet. (This is just for convenience so as to avoid getting up all the time.) My HP laptop has a wireless network device, Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g Wifi adaptor. I was previously running Vista on this machine, and today loaded CentOS 5.5. In system-config-network, this device shows up properly in Hardware and in Devices. Hardware device shows the right mac address. In General, I set Activate device when computer starts, Automatically obtain IP address setting with dhcp, and Automatically obtain DNS information from provider. I've left the DNS and Hosts page blank.When I try to Activate the device, I get
"Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06): SET failed on device wlan0; Invalid argument Determining IP information for wlan... failed."
I have tried nfs restart, to no avail. (When I do this restart, I get the usual OK on seven of the messages but Shutting Down NFS services " shows FAILED.) I know the wireless router is working because I am connecting to it from another machine.
I have recently installed CentOS 5.3 in my system. I needed some help with the wireless configuration. Actually i have configured it and it shows the wireless name but it doesnt connect to it. in solving the issue.In the /var/log/messages , the following error appears :
I am new to Linux and after a lot of research I settled on CentOS to be my OS for Linux. But I am having trouble with sound right now as I can not play audio. Clicking on the volume icon gives me message that either Gstreamer plugins are not installed or sound card is not configured.
While Trying to install gstreamer using YUM, I got following message: [root@localhost ~]# yum install gstreamer Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile ..... So I guess gstreamer are installed but how to configure the sound card or is there any other problem.
I want to add more than one Virtual IP to my CentOS machine. I was able to add one ver easily by creating a file ifcfg-eth0:1 and editing the IPADDR field. But I cannot create more by creating a ifcfg:eth0:2, for example.
I have a Dell Inspiron E4300 provided to me by my employer. I have installed CentOS 5 without much of a problem. The only issue is the wifi isn't working (doh!). I've had much experience with this kind of thing in the past (FreeBSD/ndiswrapper) with successes. Here are some details:

The device does not appear in dmesg :(I have installed ndiswrapper (dkms-ndiswrapper and ndisgtk from RPMForge) and provided it with the correct Windows XP driver. It has installed the driver and ndisgtk tells me that the hardware is present.
I'm trying to get WiFi up and running on an older desktop PC. lspci gives me the following information about the WiFi card: 00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413 802.11bg NIC (rev 01) Is there an RPM package for the driver that I need? If no, what should I do to install the driver manually? The PC in question doesn't have any other form of direct internet access. It does have an Ethernet port, but the WiFi router is too far away to hook it up to the access point directly.
I'm running Linux 11.04 and my wireless network was working just fine until today. I cannot connect to WiFi - it acts as if the device wasn't there. The hardware switch led isn't working. No matter how much clicking on it, it won't work.

Suppose that it is not convenient to go behind a machine to have a look.So I want to use a command to show whether the cable is plugged into network card. (Media connected or not)Can ifconfig do this? Or another one?
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I got this error after: Reducing my Windows 7 partition by about 100gb. Creating a new partition (100gb) and copying my Ubuntu partition (10gb) to the new partition. After it was copied, and pasted, the original partition was deleted. I now had two partitions a new 100gb Ubuntu partition and a 600gb (or so) Windows 7 partition.
All of this was done using a bootable USB with Ubuntu 10.10 and GParted partition editor. Now when I boot I get the "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." error.
I have a webserver with 3 virtual interfaces named eth0:1 eth0:3 and eth0:3. Until yesterday all the virtual ip's worked but eth0:1 decided that it just won't work anymore since yesterday. The configs are:
I have freshly installed ubuntu 9.10 and moreover i am completely a newbie to Linux. The problem now i am facing is, i am not able to configure my wireless router. I tried finding drivers for it in System->administration->hardware drivers. But it showed me none. Then i checked out one of the threads in this forum and came across the 'lspci -nn' cmd. This gave me the info abt my wireless network controller and it was : 'Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01)'.
I've tried to install Linux systems have been failures. Trying to make this work, trying to get on the right wagon, and it's frustrating as all get-out.
Installed netbook remix onto a HP Mini 1000 (1116NR?) and everything seems to be working alright, except no wireless networking. I tried a couple of things and now it shows "device not ready" instead of "disabled", so I figure I'm getting somewhere.

I want in. This is my 3rd try over the years of running Linux and I always hit snags like this that I can't fix because I've never gotten to play with it enough to learn what I'm doing and generally don't have a 2nd computer like I do right now.

It's been ages since I've been on here I've been messing around with BackTrack. I've come back to Ubuntu but seem to be having some problems getting my wireless network thingy working. Here are the specs of my system. Any advice on fixing this would be very very apprciated.
On another note I'm trying to run debain I've got no startx on there or anything like that it's feeling very basic atm. I want to keep startx outta there but I can't connect to the Internet and run apt-get install to grab handy things.
I'm hoping whatever I am gonna do to solve this on Ubuntu will let me connect up to my wireless network with the internal network thingy. However if it doesn't I'm guessin I can just connect up physically to the router. Any tips on doing this from the command line?
Not sure if this is a networking issue or not but I have a Buffalo drive NAS device that I have my mp3 on. I can see it from my Ubuntu laptop, I can see it from my windows laptop. However when I go to my centos system and the networking option under the places menu nothing comes up. I do see a workgroup and a network option. I tried both but just opens a blank folder. How can I get this drive to mount to my centos system?
HeI just started up my netbook (Medion Akoya E1315), and for no apparant reason, the little icon in the top-right corner (the Network Manager) says "Device not ready" in grey. So, after looking on a million forums and websites, I decided to go for a complete re-install of Ubuntu (9.10 netbook remix). I took the same driver that always worked before (RTL8192), and installed it with succes: I had wireless again!But, of course, as these things go, after a restart of my laptop, the same problem occured. So the obvious question: What is this problem?
Here's what I did: I downloaded the tar.gz from Realtek. I downloaded RTL8192se, untarred it and gave the "insmod" command. And that worked before.I also downloaded WICD as an alternative to Network Manager, but that just gave no for an answer.
I want to switch my laptop from XP to Ubuntu, but right now, i cant risk installing it. i dont want to have it partitioned so i can dual boot, so for now i only run the try-it-out mode.Before i consider installing though, i want to see if i can get everything to work ahead of time, that way im not regreting instalation. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, with 55GB hard drive and 516MB ram. So far, the trial mode is working great, but the wireless will not work. Ive tried to install the driver, but i am unable to do so. I have looked this up, and i have tried many things, and so far, none have worked.I was wondering if it was just part of the trial thing or not, but it is a Broadcom Wireless BCM4318 driver
I've run into a problem gathering usage for my xen virtual systems. With my old model I used to gather all network usage via my cisco devices using the the counters for each port. Each system had it's own port on the switch, and I tracked network usage accordingly. Now that I'm using xen for virtual systems, and multiple vm's share the same switch port, i'm not exactly sure what my best option is for tracking usage.
I thought I may be able to setup vlans on the switch, and bind each vm to a different vlan using vconfig... but it seems like there has to be a better solution than that.
I need to set a NAC (PacketFence) system (CentOS 5.5), i would like to set in my case eth0 to work with several different VLAN'S i created ifcfg-eth0.2 copied from orginal ifcfg-eth0 and changed the ip and append VLAN=yes but when i am triyng to load ifcfg-eth0.2 i get error

I have just installed openSuse 11.4 KDE 64-bit on a Dell M1330. When I click on my networking panel, it says WLAN interface is unavailable.
