Networking :: Detect SNMP Object Identifiers Of A Device?

May 30, 2011

I have a pair of special radio-devices which support SNMP, but the problem is, that if I snmpwalk those devices, I only see few generic values(sysContact, sysDescr, sysServices etc) and nothing else. Most likely I need MIB files so NMS could know what values can be asked from the radio devices? If yes, is there a possibility to get all the OID's device supports without MIB files as those devices have been out or production for years?

Ubuntu Networking :: Why Won't 10.04 Detect Any Wireless

Jun 20, 2010

I recently downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 into my Windows Vista laptop & I have downloaded the one that can run alongside my current system, so I'm running dual OS. At the start up screen where I choose the OS, I choose Ubuntu & it loads fine. Everything looks perfect except that it won't connect to or detect any wireless connections. I have tried clicking the Network Manager icon & clicking New Connection. I typed in the SSID & security key for my wireless connection/router & after I hit create, a small window pops up saying "Wireless Disconnected: you are now working offline" or something like that. Nothing happens/changes. There is no internet connection on Ubuntu OS. But when I switch over to my Vista OS, the internet works perfectly (obviously.)

Ubuntu Networking :: Eee PC 1000HE - Cannot Detect Wireless Networks

Mar 1, 2010

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on an ASUS eeepc 1000HE, and my wireless card, RaLink RT 2860, is failing to recognize any wireless networks. It was working fine this morning, until I accidentally hit Fn F2, disabling the wireless card. I hit Fn F2 again to reenable it, but it no longer will detect any wireless networks (and other computers in the household do recognize them). I googled quite a bit and talked to a human about this but could not fix it. We tried dhclient ra0, which returned

Ubuntu Networking :: Unable To Detect The Wireless Network

Apr 6, 2010

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell M6400, using Wubi for Windows 7 x64. My ISP sets my router password at source, meaning I'm unable to disable wireless encryption (which is WPA 2 Personal). That being said, I don't seem to be able to detect *any* wireless networks (I can still connect via ethernet, which does not require the password).

I'm not certain where the problem is, so I'll outline my steps and what the results were:
Under "System > Administration > Hardware Drivers" I have the "Broadcom STA proprietary wireless driver" installed (for BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4321-, and BCM4322- based hardware)
The driver is activated and currently in use. When I type

"nm-tool", I get NetworkManager disconnected

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Detect Wireless, Drivers Recognized?

Jun 30, 2010

No wireless networks can be recognized in Ubuntu, and now after several attempted fixes, my wireless toggle button won't switch from orange to blue. My wireless card is Atheros AR5001. I posted in the absolute beginners forum, but I've played around so much that I think I can move on to this one I'm so sorry if posting another thread is bad etiquette, but I need to have wireless access by Friday morning, and am slightly desperate.

Attempted fixes: First, I installed the backport modules using Synaptic. Then, I installed the madwifi driver. After those failed, I used ndiswrapper to install the Windows driver (linked from the ndiswrapper page). I made sure to disable the madwifi driver and restart first. My output all looks normal--I blacklisted everything mentioned in google searches. Here is the current output of ndiswrapper -l:

Code:
ndiswrapper -l

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Detect Wireless Card On HP Laptop

Jul 19, 2010

I'm on an HP Pavillion dv4-1125nr with a Broadcom BCM 4312 network card.

I only have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on this computer.

ifconfig reports:

Code:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1e:ec:b5:b4:85
inet addr:192.168.0.5 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::21e:ecff:feb5:b485/64 Scope:Link

[Code]....

It isn't even detecting the wireless card, and the network manager will only let me connect to wired networks (I'm connected to my router via ethernet cable right now).

I've pressed the LED killswitch but it does nothing (doesn't change from orange to blue nor does it have any noticeable effect on the network manager or the reports of the above 2 commands).

Ubuntu Networking :: Detect Wireless Networks But Cannot Connect

Aug 1, 2010

I have a WLAN Driver Azure Wave AW-NU222 Wireless LAN Card in my Medion computer.

After installing Ubuntu it seems to detect the wireless networks in my area. However, when I try to connect to my network, it tries for several minutes and then times out with no error message. I have set up the credentials and also tried removing the encryption (WPA-PSK) from the network itself, but it still doesn't connect.

Connect via an Ethernet cable is fine, and I know that the network is good because I can connect via my Windows Laptop and various other wireless devices.

I suspect it's due to drivers, but I'm having trouble downloading a driver which I can try and install using Ndiswrapper. The Medion website just a windows executable when I try and download the driver specific to my machine when I really need the .inf file.

Ubuntu Networking :: Doesn't Seem To Detect Wireless Connections?

Apr 22, 2011

i'm using a dell n5010 recently i installed ubuntu9.10 in my laptop and it doesn't seem to detect wireless connections, so, i googled it and downloaded a driver from broadcom and tried to install it as per the authors instructions and nothing seems to work well, the broadcom drivers are not detected in the additional drivers and when i try to install linux-wlan-ng tarballs it doesn't seem to work even, though i have gcc(i think thats it), so, i installed my windows driver through nsdgtk but it says that it is "unable to see if hardware is present" but, when i click ok on the error the wireless network applet says the hardware is present and when i click the network configuration tool it gives the error message "could not find a network configuration tool" and after configuring my network with network tools in administration it says "no wireless extensions" when i type 'iwconfig' and there is no ip address when i type "ipconfig".

To find the appropriate firmware without knowing the make or brand of your wireless chip, you can use the command:

But apparently debian package do not offer this useful tool, well, certainly for sidux exclusively.

Is there a package of fw-detect eventually?

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Detect Network On AWU212N Wireless Adapter / Fix It?

I just got a new AZiO AWU212N 802.11n wireless usb adapter (linked below). I updated my kernel and Ubuntu detects that there is a wireless adapter, but doesn't detect any networks. My old wireless-g adapter can connect just fine, so I don't know what the problem is.

Fedora Networking :: Can Not Get It To Detect My Wireless Network / Enable It?

Apr 17, 2010

I recently installed Fedora on an old computer of mine that I pulled out of storage, and I can not get it to detect my wireless network. Previously it was running Windows XP and I was able to get it to connect, but now that I'm on Fedora it doesn't even detect my network. I tried lspci and lsusb but I didn't find anything under network, only Ethernet showing my linksys. I know I must have a wireless chipset, but nothing will show.

I also attempted to yum install ndiswrapper because another thread with a similar problem suggested this, and when it prompted me for my password it wouldn't let me type. How would I go about fixing this?
