when i want to install centos 5.5 i take this error:
An error occurred - no valid devices werefound on which to crate new file systems.
my hardware specification is:
motherboard: gigabyte p55a-ud3
ram: ddr3 crucial 4gb
cpu: corei5 750
hdd: 2X1TB wd black edition raid1
It's been years since I've set up a Linux machine and I am getting a "no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystems" during a Centos install on a Asus P5BV-C/4L motherboard. I am assuming that there is a raid driver that needs to be installed, but when I went to the asus download site, selected linux/P5BV-C/4L and downloaded all of the available drivers, I keep getting errors saying "Driver disk is invalid for this release of Centos".
I take the zip file, extract it down to the .img file, burn it to disk and try to load it after running a "linux dd". Is this the correct way of doing it? Am I using the correct file?

I followed this tutorial: [URL]... I followed it on my ubuntu system to get my 2 x M-AUDIO Delta 1010s working. My deltas are now detected. And apparently it's all ok. However when I try and open Ardour (which I installed from the repos), I get: Quote: [ERROR]: No devices found for driver "OSS". My graphics cards aren't attached to their break out boxes. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

But starting lm_sensors returned the error: Starting lm_sensors: No sensors found!

I have just done a reinstall of Centos 5.3 on a dedicated server (via a KVM). My partition arrangement was the default presented to me by the installer:
As you can see, I'm using LVM for everything other than /boot (I need to use LVM for an app I am testing).

I have rebooted using the Centos Install Disk 1 and gone in to rescue mode. Rescue mode mounted my / under /mnt/sysimage, from there I could see that /boot had been mounted from /dev/sda1 as it should be.
However, there was no initrd.image or /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 under /boot or /boot/grub. Shouldn't the CentOS installer have created these?
Is there anyway I can recover this installation?
