CentOS 5 :: Can't Install Dahdi - Sources For 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 Not Found - Error
Nov 19, 2009
I am quite new to centos as I am from a windows back ground and trying to change over. I am trying to install Asterisk on a dell quadcore server running centos. I need to install Dahdi for hardware support but when I try to install it I get the following error You do not appear to have the sources for the 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 kernel installed I don't have a clue
i am having following error: /usr/src/dahdi-tools-2.4.1/ppp :this is my current path when i use make here i get below error pppd version not found (in patchlevel.h). Install ppp source/headers and/or ./configure --with-ppp=PATH. exit 1 make: *** [dahdi.so] Error 1
I have just done a reinstall of Centos 5.3 on a dedicated server (via a KVM). My partition arrangement was the default presented to me by the installer:
As you can see, I'm using LVM for everything other than /boot (I need to use LVM for an app I am testing).
On reboot, I get the following:
[QUOTE]
It looks like it can't find vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 in /boot.
I have rebooted using the Centos Install Disk 1 and gone in to rescue mode. Rescue mode mounted my / under /mnt/sysimage, from there I could see that /boot had been mounted from /dev/sda1 as it should be.
However, there was no initrd.image or /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 under /boot or /boot/grub. Shouldn't the CentOS installer have created these?

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 and I'm trying to install Webcamstudio through the Software Center but I get this "There isn't a software package called webcamstudio in your current software sources". How do I add this to my software sources?
I recently built a cluster with Centos 5.3 and nodes that used different versions of the w83627ehf sensors chip. On some nodes sensors-detect detected the chip:
Found `Winbond W83627DHG Super IO Sensors' Success!(address 0x290, driver `w83627ehf')
But starting lm_sensors returned the error: Starting lm_sensors: No sensors found!
On other nodes sensors-detect did not detect the chip at all: Found unknown chip with ID 0xb073(logical device B has address 0x290, could be sensors)

I am currently trying to install Debian 8 "Jessie" AMD64 on a Dell Latitude E7240. I have two 256 GB SSD disks, on the first one I have installed Xubuntu 14.04 successfully. I want to install Debian 8 (XFCE) on the other one.I have tried using Debian-8.0.0-Live-amd64-xfce, Debian-8.0.0-amd64-DVD and Debian-8.0.0-amd64-netinst, all from a USB key (prepared with Unetbootin), but after successfully partitionning SSD disk, the installer raises the following issue:"no install-able kernel was found in the defined apt sources".
When I try to add software sources (specifically those for Scratchbox, but I get the same error with everything), I get an error message: "http://http not found". Obviously that is not a valid APT line and I have no idea what it is doing in my software sources. How do I take it out?
I have a problem with GPG key, when I tried to run #yum updateI have got this errorwarning:rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID d05c057cGPG key retrieval failed: [Errno 14] HTTP eRROR 404: Not foundI used Centos 5.5.
I was having a problem on my squid server whereby 1 website would timeout daily and return a nscd not found error: [url]....There may be other sites but this is the only one I know of. A selection of other sites still work correctly, which is the strange thing.I have found that by restarting the dns cache everything works again: /etc/init.d/nscd restart.I never know quite when this will timeout so it is not very good for people accessing that site on the server.
Im trying to install CACTI EZ on a HP Proliant Blade 460c G6. But im having problem with detecting the hard disk. CACTI EZ installation has the drivers for this and loads the driver itself. Tearing my hair out on this one a little bit, having problems sending message from web based PHP form to user inbox.I keep getting: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender<me@mydomain.co.uk>: Host or domain name not found. Need to yum install apache2-threaded-dev but says "no package available". There is no "/etc/apt/sources.list" - so what do I do, and what should be the urls?
I have 2 network cards eth0 and eth1, for eth0 i set a manual MACADDR in network scripts. Ok so every time i boot, if the cable is plugged in, my eth0 fails to mount or i don't know.. i get this after bood when i type ifoncifg eth0 (eth0: error fetching interface information:Device not found). So i have to unplug the cable when i boot, then plug it in and do a service network restart.
I would like to test 12.1 M5 on my real hardware, so I have special for this purpose two additional partitions (sda2 (to install milestone) and sda3 (to store installation ISO files)). I am running my stable 11.4 with Grub on sda1.
I do not like to burn DVDs just for short test of one milestone, so I was used to download DVD ISO, to unpack it to sda3 partition with all its files, then I changed Grub to boot install Linux from sda3. Installation complains there is no DVD or CD, then I chose to force installation from hard disk and select sda3 partition and select root directory "/". As I was used to from 11.4 this will start installation as it would be started from DVD.
But I think the problem has appeared since 12.1, where I get message: No repository found. (on sda3 / ), so the installation does not start.
I know this is not official way to install openSuse, but it worked before, and it was fast and easy for me, to install from hard disk.
After a disk crash I reinstalled openSuSE 11.2 and as always downloaded the latest Nvidia driver for my geforce 8200 graphics.
Unlike all previous cases, this time the driver does not install. The contents of /var/log/nvidia-installer.log are below. The error refers to being unable to to locate version.h
I have a weird problem with one of my servers (normal PC hardware). I was connected remotely using Putty, doing some stuff, and all of the sudden some commands, like "ls" stopped working, giving a "file or command not found" type of message. I restarted the ssh session, only to find out I couldn't log on any more (access denied). When I got home and rebooted the system, I was greeted with this:Booting 'CentOS (2.6.18-194.el5xen)'root (hd0,0)Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83kernel /boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5Error 15: File not foundPress any key to continue...Then I searched about this, found out that the files in /boot/grub/menu.lst did not exist at the specified location (/boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5). Somehow I managed to find them in another place, copied them in place, and now I get:Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
I have dahdi installed. And a wildcard card: dahdi_hardware pci:0000:04:07.0 wcfxo-1057:5608 Wildcard X100P modprobe dahdi returns: "FATAL: Module dahdi not found." and dahdi_genconf finds no spans.
I have commented out the following line in /etc/modprobe.d/dahdi.blacklist.conf: "#blacklist wcfxo", which I believe corresponds to the appropriate module. However modprobe wcfxo indiates that module is not found. I have an up to date fc15 installation.
I am using SAMSUN R-519 laptop with 4 GB RAM and 2.1 GHz dual core CPU and I intend to configure asterisk on this machine for voice conferencing with 4 other PCs. I am unable to configure asterisk. I don't have any hardware regarding voip such as Digium card.
I want to install the Empathy on my CentOS. And I configured, then I got a resposes: checking gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3... no configure: error: gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3 not found
But when I run "yum install gnome-doc-utils" The system respond: [root@localhost ~]# yum install gnome-doc-utils Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile Setting up Install Process Package gnome-doc-utils-0.8.0-2.fc6.noarch already installed and latest version Nothing to do
