CentOS 5 Networking :: Error: No Valid Servers Configured
Jun 3, 2010
My problem is configure and start FTP server on own computer. I edited configure files, and i try to run ProFTP. Then i see that communication: Launch proftpd: - warning: unable to determine IP address of 'dhcppc1'
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Repository updates is listed more than once in the configuration Determining fastest mirrors YumRepo Error: All mirror URLs are not using ftp, http[s] or file. Eg. 13 is not a valid release or hasnt been released yet/ removing mirrorlist with no valid mirrors: /var/cache/yum/i386/13/base/mirrorlist.txt Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base
i am trying to install the GD2 extension for PHP but i am not sure how to do this. i have try the
yum install php-gd Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://apt.sw.be/dries/fedora/fc4/mirrors-rpmforge error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: rpmforge
I have a server running centos 5 located in a datacenter. I am setting it up as a web server but haven't bothered to move the domain from my current registrar to the server as there are a lot of things I need to get done before that. I am having a problem where I couldn't install httpd. So i tried some of the basic fixes i knew as far as yum clean all and checking that my /etc/resolv.conf was ok. I have the two nameservers I am using listed there but I have no hostname set because I simply dont have the domain transferred or anything like that yet. Is that the reason I am having these issues. I installed the system with a network install fine about a month ago so im not sure why I am having problems now. When i try to ping centos.org I get an unknown host www.centos.org error. I tried changing the resolv.conf to have localhost as the hostname and I still have the same issues. I havent made any changes to anything that would potentially cause this.
My etc/resolv.conf looks like this: search nameserver 12.34.567.8 nameserver 12.34.566.8
Also it seems the problem may have got worse after yum clean-all because before that when I would try 'yum install httpd' it would show the files and filesizes and ask to install, when I would select yes It would give an error showing it could not find the fastestmirror. Now it doesn't give any file size or files or an option to approve the install. It just responds with an error saying it could not retrieve mirrorlist <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution' Error Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base
I have installed centos 5.5 / 64. Configured network but - no internet. On my router I see my pc and IP. On centos, Firewall and selinux are disabled. I try to disable network and activate network manager and reverse but no luck internet is not working. Try to ping my router 192.168.5.1
I am using an eeePC with Xubuntu Lucid and I just configured a wireless network to run with WPA & WPA2 (wireless access point NetGear WG103). It tries to connect and then comes back with a request for reentering the passphrase. I have had this once before in a pub. The way I read this the driver is getting confused how to authenticate.
I just ran into a weird problem with a CentOS 5.5 64-bit server running VirtualBox 3.2.8 (I would run Vmware Server 2.0.2 if not for the well known fact that Vmware doesn't care about its Server line anymore and it doesn't run on CentOS > 5.3 without major splits). I currently have two guests in that VirtualBox setup, a CentOS 5.5 64-bit and a Fedora 13 64-bit. The CentOS 5.5 guest shows less memory available than configured. If, for example, I give the virtual machine 512MB of memory the guest OS only recognizes 380MB. If I give it 768MB it only recognizes 637MB, and so on. I don't have that problem on the Fedora guest - 1024MB configured, 1024MB available.
i used my windows box to connect to ftp(fed box) and i keep getting an error saying "The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found." does anyone know why i cant connect?
i have a recicled sun fire v240 that i need to use for central loging server, i got an ubuntu 7.10 cd that i got to install succefully in the server. So foar so good, the problem now is that i cant install any software, everytime i run apt-get update the error says:
[Code]...
I guess the old repositories configured in the old 7.10 iso are no longer valid, where can i find a valid one?
I just install a new server and I would like to now what are the basics that I should install. It currently has LAMP stuff. Any one know how are the VPS server configured at hostgator.com and similar web hosting platforms.
I have Ubuntu server 10.04 joined to a domain using Likewise Open. I can login using my domain credentials and have added my domain account to the sudoers file. Now that I've got it joined to the domain I want to add some samba shares and have domain members use their accounts to access them. However, no matter what combination of my domain name and the domain user or group I use in the valid users field it won't let me in. What's the proper way of inputting a domain user or group in the valid user field?
This is the entry I'm using for the share:
Code: [testshare] path = /srv/testshare valid users = @"Domain Name+Domain Group" (Have tried many things here) public = no writable = yes printable = no create mask = 0765
I have tryed for hours trying to get this right but failed.I configure the dhcp file and when accepting the changes i get the error NOT CONFIGURED TO LISTEN ON ANY INTERFACE.
My file looks like this
Heres my current settings
I am getting an error: NOT CONFIGURED TO LISTEN ON ANY INTERFACE
- Procmail forwards this mail to a perl script which extracts the attachments
- then this script executes the bugzilla importxml.pl with the attachments.
This works like a charm on the ubuntu machine. Unfortunately I now have been forced to rebuild this setup on a oracle linux. Well, I can run the imports from terminal as root user. The import works well. But if fetchmail trigges procmail and the the perl scripts become executet I get following error:
Code:
'oracle' is not a valid choice for $db_driver in localconfig: Can't load 'lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so' for module DBD::Oracle: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 230. at Bugzilla/DB/Oracle.pm line 41
[code]...
The path "lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so" is right if you go from the importxml.pl but if perl realy looks on this as absolute path to oracle.so then its clear that the file is not there... Again. The script works if I call it manually. So whats the difference between manual call and call through the process described at the beginning? Something seems to be different in the perl environment. The .procmailrc lies in /root and fetchmail is startet manually by the root user in the terminal (for testing). So I thing at the end its in both ways the same user who calls importxml.pl...
I recently did my first installation of centos on a vm. I tried playing around for a while but when I tried doing an update it says Determining fastest mirrors for a while then gave me Could not retrieve mirrorlist [url]
When trying to run 'yum update' or 'yum install' i get the following message:
Quote:
# yum update Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, kmod Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile YumRepo Error: All mirror URLs are not using ftp, http[s] or file.
I am having trouble with setting up BIND9 for 6 virtual servers that use ubuntu x64 v10.10. I have main server running ubuntu as well. host name is xeonserver I would like to explain my setup first.
my router ip: 192.168.1.1/24 host server for VMs ip: 192.168.1.2/24 Then on qemu my virtual machines are in 10.0.0.0/24 network, gateway to my router is 10.0.0.1
1. kerberos.xeonserver (not configured yet) 10.0.0.2 2. dns.xeonserver (the one I have trouble with) 10.0.0.3 3. mysql.xeonserver (not configured yet) 10.0.0.4 4. apache.xeonserver (not configured yet) 10.0.0.5 5. ftp.xeonserver (not configured yet) 10.0.0.6 6. mail.xeonserver (not configured yet) 10.0.0.7
To configure it I followed instructions found on [URL]
Basically im trying to setup a dynamic vlan setup with my Cisco 2950 switch. I understand that freeradius has support for vmps and i'm wanting to use this. (as i'd also use the radius server for authentication for my squid proxy server)
But i have no idea where to start to get this configured. Right now i've got the freeradius package installed and i've done a bit of google'ing and i cant seem to find much about vmps and freeradius.
I came to a "weird" situation when I saw in yum log files that several centOS systems have been automatically updated via yum. I checked the following: 1. chkconfig for init services that could upgrade the system: only yum-updatesd 2. In the config file of yum-updatesd.conf the do_update function is set to no. 3. If an updated made manually by a user ..no. Where else should I look or how this update happened?
I've been running a SuseStudio-built VM for a few weeks with no issues. I built a new one recently, and now I can't configure a new vhost in Apache using the http-server module. It gives me this error. Screen shot 2010-11-06 at 11.42.24 AM.png. Why YaST suddenly decided that my hostnames aren't valid?
i was installing YUM GROUPINSTALL 'DEVELOPMENT TOOLS' but in start i got an error saying "Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: extras". how can i solve this issue?
I have setup a Centos5.5 VMWare guest with Samba and Winbind for Active Directory integration, using GUI tools. Authentication works flawlessly, with automatic home directory creation. What I want to achieve now is using local UNIX groups to controll access to shared folders, to avoid bothering AD administrators with groups management. This is my smb.conf global section:
'finance' is a local UNIX group where I added user 'COGITANSalberto' (I also tried with 'alberto') as a secondary group (primary group is 'domain users' and it cannot be changed). I am sure the user is added, because it is listed in 'getent group'. If I specify user COGITANSalberto in valid users it works, i.e. only that use can access the share, the others get a NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED error. But if I use +finance, access is denied to everybody, and this is the log:
[2010/09/11 14:12:37, 10] smbd/share_access.c:user_ok_token(211) User COGITANSalberto not in 'valid users' [2010/09/11 14:12:37, 2] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(617) user 'COGITANSalberto' (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (finance)
[code]....
It seems like winbind cannot recognize finance as a local group. For the same reason, I guess, 'force group = finance' does not work either (files are created with 'domain users' group ownership). My /etc/nsswitch.conf:
I keep getting the following error when trying to install anything:
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/mirrorl...d-11&arch=i386 error was [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: rpmfusion-free-updates
So this tells me the servers are down however if i put the link in FF I don't get 404.I am installing on a new box and I can't get the stuff I need.
