Actually I had installed some missing plugins and I set up free and non-free rpm repository through the kernel, based on the information given on the below site.! Personal Fedora 15 Installation Guide. Guess that might have done some damages to the RPM Fusion non-free repository.!

I tried yum because when i did the simple download o the newest amanda rpm and tried t install.. i get the following dependency problem..

I installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?

I`m having a problem with upgrading my Fedora 11 to either Fedora 12 or Fedora 13. When i start preupgrade, it lists all packages that need to be upgraded, but then it ends with the message that none of the mirrors can be found. I`m seeing the messages in the console, and indeed all the mirrors return "HTTP Error 404: Not Found". Any idea how to change this and eventually do an upgrade?. I also downloaded the Fedora 13 DVD, and tried to upgrade that way, but it never showed me the window which must give me the option to upgrade instead of doing a fresh install. The explanation in the official website clearly shows that this window exist, but after several tries with the DVD I did not get it.

When i use the kickstart install i get an error on boot saying "File based locking initialization failed" "no volume groups found". Then it proceeds to boot up with no issues and appears to work just fine. I have a Feadora 12 Live CD. It booted up fine on my 700 Mhz computer. I've since then put a new HDD in with which I intended to install Fedora on. But now i get this message

I have installed CentOS 5.6 guest in vmware. This machine has host-only networking. I would like to install vmware-tools, which requires that gcc be installed. (As vmware tools is not yet configured, I cannot copy paste the error. So I am typing it out). As gcc has dependancies, I thought of configuring a local yum repository via http. http is already up and running fine.These are the steps I did:
I mounted the iso as loopback in /mnt/cdrom.
cd /var/www/html
mkdir -p yum/base-pkg
/var/www/html/yum/base-pkg is where all the rpm's going to be served via http will be present. I am changing the ownership of /var/www/html/yum/base-pkg to apache:apache, though not sure if this step is required.
chown -R apache:apache /var/www/html/yum/base-pkg
Now, cd /mnt/cdrom
ls CentOS | wc -l
shows 2684
I am copying these 2684 packages as follows:
cp -avr CentOS/* /var/www/html/yum/base-pkg
I am also copying the directory "repodata" as follows:
cp -R repodata/* /var/www/html/yum/base-pkg
Now, cd /etc/yum.repos.d
ls shows the following files:
CentOS-Base.repo
CentOS-Debuginfo.repo
CentOS-Media.repo
CentOS-Vault.repo
I am renaming the .repo directories to something else. I hope this will ensure that yum will not look into the default repositories, rather will look only into my custom repository file.

have a simple program attached below. I login as root, compiled and ran setgid_test.c as root also. The program simply tries to copy a file "seed_file" to a new "test_file". The new "test_file" should have user id: 40088, group id "40000". When I ran a.out, setuid() worked, but setgid() failed. I have to have this work, because I always login to a root, but will create files with different uids and gids to test a quota system.Please note that both uid and gid I used are valid. I'm trying to install Wine on Fedora 13, I tried installing it from the "Add/Remove Software Repository" but the installation fails, I tried installing it from the Terminal using the following command as root: "yum install wine"

I am trying to install v 10.04.1 and it works up till 34% and then it gives me that error. So annoying and i don't have any other OS's.
I am posting this from a bootable 9.10 CD which doesnt even partition right.
I have a 64 bit CPU but i downloaded 32 bit ubuntu.
I've managed to boot up ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64 using PXE, but when the installer is copying the files it fails. I've md5sum checked the iso and it is OK.

I recently built a cluster with Centos 5.3 and nodes that used different versions of the w83627ehf sensors chip. On some nodes sensors-detect detected the chip:

But starting lm_sensors returned the error: Starting lm_sensors: No sensors found!
On other nodes sensors-detect did not detect the chip at all: Found unknown chip with ID 0xb073(logical device B has address 0x290, could be sensors)

I have just done a reinstall of Centos 5.3 on a dedicated server (via a KVM). My partition arrangement was the default presented to me by the installer:
As you can see, I'm using LVM for everything other than /boot (I need to use LVM for an app I am testing).

I have rebooted using the Centos Install Disk 1 and gone in to rescue mode. Rescue mode mounted my / under /mnt/sysimage, from there I could see that /boot had been mounted from /dev/sda1 as it should be.
However, there was no initrd.image or /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 under /boot or /boot/grub. Shouldn't the CentOS installer have created these?
Is there anyway I can recover this installation?
