Just installed Karmic Koala on my Intel Macbook via Virtualbox and cannot get wireless working. Previously did this with 9.04 and everything worked. Do I need to use ndiswrapper? I don't remember having to do that before.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAluminum Unibody macbook, the only aluminum macbook to date. It has a Broadcom chip in it and I installed the STA drivers. The first day it seemed to work fine. Then I noticed pages stopped loading. The max throughput I get is like 30KiB/s once in a while. Sometimes I see consistent speeds of 600B/S...this really sucks. Is there a fix or anything?
I was going to make the switch slowly to 10.10 full-time, but the wireless issue is bothering me. The keyboard brightness keys don't work natively, but there's a fix I saw but didn't have time to implement earlier. I like ubuntu but I don't like my wireless not working!
I have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.
I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

I have installed Fedora 12, i'm using an external lcd samsung screen on the vga port, it works fine. My display properties shows two screen as well as the correct resolutions...the problem it that i can't use my latopt screen, i have tried different resolutions..but nothing. I can't use mi laptopt without an external screen.Even if i boot without my external screen, my laptopt screen goes black.

I have been on Intel's website and downloaded e1000-8.0.18 and installed as the instructions. But it is still greyed out on the Network Manager. View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell XPS M1530. I'm getting very frequent disconnects to my wireless network, despite good signal. I have wicd and nm-applet running side by side, wicd doesn't work by itself and nm-applet won't get a new IP after reassociating with the AP.
Wireless connection is steady in Windows 7, so I'm guessing it's a problem with the driver.

I have a new Thinkpad t510 laptop with an intel centrino wireless N card (no bluetooth). I installed ubuntu a couple weeks ago after I got another hard drive in the expansion bay. I have the drive partitioned into two sections, 250gb for file storage, and 250gb for the linux OS. Currently no other OS is installed on the other harddrive.

I have Dell 1537 laptop having Intel 5100 wireless card. It is not supported by Fedora 9. I have tried downloading the driver iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.24.2.12.tgz from URL...Downloads and copied it to folder /lib/firmware and rebooted the machine. But still it is not detected by the system. In Windows 7, after installing the relevant drivers everything worked without a hitch.In my Ubuntu 10.04 installation, however, I have been unable to get it working.Initially I had the compat-wireless modules installed (linux-backports-modules-wireless-generic), as I had done so to try and get the Atheros card working better. View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

I'm dual booting windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.1 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 11z with an embedded WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 series wireless card made from Intel. I only use it for wifi, not 3g or wimax. I installed the latest driver from intellinuxwireless.org, iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1, but it still doesn't seem to work. I ran these terminal commands from another thread:

In the ubuntu help section it tells me to flip a manual wifi switch to enable it, but pressing my windows wifi button, F2, doesn't appear to do anything while in ubuntu. The only experience I have working with linux is typing some terminal commands on my android phone to root it.
when it comes to openSUSE but I am earnestly trying. I installed the openSUSE OS on my HP dv6000 laptop, but it does not seem to recognize my wireless card (which is a Broadcom 4311).

The funny thing is that it works fine in a Fedora installation, which has an older kernel and older drivers, on the same laptop. The fact that the indicator light doesn't come in when the physical switch is turned on suggests it's something to do with that switch.
Wireless networking doesn't seem to work. When I try to create a new network interface with system-config-network, my wireless card doesn't show up. The following comes from dmesg:

When I do, 'aplay /home/emor/sample.wav' it says it's playing but I don't here any audio. Its a HP dm3 and the intel network adapter is supported as I can scan and detect wireless access points.However, when I attempt to connect to my home network, it fails and this is probably a result of two things: The BSSID is missing and/or the DHCP client ID is missing.I am running Kubuntu 10.10 32 bit
