Aug 11, 2010I upgraded the wireless card in my laptop (sony VAIO CW) due to the original Atheros being incurably slow.The new card is an Intel 6300 ultimate n. In Windows 7, after installing the relevant drivers everything worked without a hitch.In my Ubuntu 10.04 installation, however, I have been unable to get it working.Initially I had the compat-wireless modules installed (linux-backports-modules-wireless-generic), as I had done so to try and get the Atheros card working better. I tried removing all of these, and that made the difference that iwconfig now (instead of nothing) listed

Ubuntu Networking :: Slow Wireless Connection With Intel 6300
Dec 30, 2010I want to connect to a 300mbit network (802.11n). With Windows (the same Computer) I am able to connect with full speed, but with Ubuntu Maverick (64bit), and a lot of other distros I tested, I am only able to connect with 54mbit. The builtin wireless network card is an Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 35). Is this a driver Problem? I updated to kernel version 2.6.37-rc2 via ppa sources, but with no luck. I tried to extract the windows driver and started it with ndiswrapper, but i properbly made somethng wrong, because the card did not show up, though ndiswrapper said adapter available... oO?

Mar 5, 2011Alright this is my first post on here and I hope I got sufficient Information for you available. I ran Ubuntu based Distros before but this is the first time under a Debian based Distro for me. I got a newlaptop and this one does not seem to let me get my wireless to work after multiple efforts
My problem: My Intel Centrino N-6300 () does not seem to find any network connections.
My previous attempts: (Some of which required me to reinstall Suse)
1. I installed new kernels as my first assumption was that the kernel was not supporting it. I know now that it is supported.
2. I installed drivers from http://intellinuxwireless.org/ which was pointless.
3. I installed backports (THat was still under Linux Mint. Same problem there.)
4. I tried NDiswrapper without success.
5. I checked rfkill as you can see further down below.
Alright here are some of my info's I have collected so far. Let me know if anything is missing.

Debian Installation :: Debian Testing Does Not See The Network Card?
Oct 8, 2010I just installed the Debian testing release(with LXDE) from this week. Everything works great except the network card. I know the network card works because Windows and the Parted Magic Live cd recognize it. Also "lspci" seems to list the card, but when I fire "ifconfig -a" it is not listed there.

- I get that I should change jessie but to what, testing or stretch?
- Is it considered reasonably "safe" to upgrade a system by changing sources.list and then running apt-get update && apt-get upgrade?
By safe I mean something along the lines of that given that I have a fresh install of jessie is there a great chance that the upgrade will break my system?

Mar 3, 2010To make Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card work on ubuntu, you just need to download the firmware from here decompress it and copy the ucode in /lib/firmware. This works in jaunty. My laptop is a HP Elitebook 8440p.

Sep 26, 2015I found a nice old mini industrial PC with an Jetway NF92 motherboard (Atom N270/Intel GMA945 GPU).
Installed Jessie on it, I have a strange problem under X11: mouse pointer is garbled (looks like somebody cut the arrow in four separate sprite and shake them well , and screen flickering. If I move down the mouse in the lower part of the screen, the screen flicker slowly, if the mouse goes in the top part of the screen, screen flicker rapidly... And finally, putting the pointer on the last line of the screen make the screen stop flickering with perfect screen....

Ubuntu Networking :: No Wireless After Installing Ndiswrapper T61 With Intel 4965AGN Wireless Card
Dec 31, 2010I have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.
Debian Installation :: X Server Crashes On New Install On Intel I855 Graphics Card
Sep 13, 2010I have just reinstalled testing on a Samsung Q30 and I cant get X to start. I am just left with a blank screen and ctrl+alt+Fn does nothing. I had a previous install of testing that worked fine but it might have been running a previous version of the kernel, or I had installed a bug fix to do with 915resoultion that I can't remember about. Booting off a Slax live cd works fine but I have had similar problems with Knoppix and Ubuntu.
I am running LXDE but I previously tried Gnome and had the same problem. Running xander displays cant open display Running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg returns nothing, as does Xfree86 -configure There is no /etc/X11/xorg.conf or installed by default, I have tried running startx with a custom xorg.conf and the automatically generated one from -configure. The automatic one did not include any resolutions and was configured for a dual head set up although there was only one monitor connected.
I thought it may be the same problem as this:[url]
But I have tried following the bug fixes on that site and I have had no luck.

Apr 8, 2010I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

I must add: lxde Debian uses Wicd, so network-manager is not installed !
Wicd seems to be the problem. After changing to network-manager, everthing is ok.
Next install with the official Jessie release, i will look, why wicd not work out of the box.

I have tried what it says here http://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary but I only come up with a blank screen (and also invoke-rc.d gdm stop does not work either?) I have also followed the directions at [URL]....html and that doesn't work either (make error 127). I must be doing something totally wrong.

May 2, 2010This is a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell XPS M1530. I'm getting very frequent disconnects to my wireless network, despite good signal. I have wicd and nm-applet running side by side, wicd doesn't work by itself and nm-applet won't get a new IP after reassociating with the AP.
Wireless connection is steady in Windows 7, so I'm guessing it's a problem with the driver.

I have the drive partitioned into two sections, 250gb for file storage, and 250gb for the linux OS. Currently no other OS is installed on the other harddrive.

The funny thing is that it works fine in a Fedora installation, which has an older kernel and older drivers, on the same laptop. The fact that the indicator light doesn't come in when the physical switch is turned on suggests it's something to do with that switch.

Dec 14, 2010I'm dual booting windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.1 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 11z with an embedded WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 series wireless card made from Intel. I only use it for wifi, not 3g or wimax. I installed the latest driver from intellinuxwireless.org, iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1, but it still doesn't seem to work. I ran these terminal commands from another thread:

In the ubuntu help section it tells me to flip a manual wifi switch to enable it, but pressing my windows wifi button, F2, doesn't appear to do anything while in ubuntu. The only experience I have working with linux is typing some terminal commands on my android phone to root it.

Nov 8, 2015I'm trying to set up my Intel Wireless 3945ABG (which is supported in the kernel) and I don't understand where to start if I want to use systemd to do this.
I've installed my Debian (Stretch Alpha4) base system using the wireless to download the necessary components but when I boot into the system I need to set up the wireless card separately.
I would prefer to be able to install wireless without the requirement of connecting via ethernet so no package installs other than what is downloaded by the installer.
I can't even find documentation on this specific issue because everyone seems to reference /etc/network/interfaces which AFAIK is not supported in systemd. How do I configure a wireless card using only systemd?

I need to get the comparative info off the new desktop, but I am currently hampered by the old mouse and the bug, whereby when I asked for the LXDE desktop I also got Gnome installed, and Lightdm ignores my request to start LXDE and dumps me in Gnome!!
The main differences that I have found was in the modules where the 32 bit one uses uhci_hcd, while the 64 bit one uses xhci_hcd. The dmesg section is like the above, finding the Unifying device, but is missing the last line where djdevice finds the mouse..

Aug 3, 2010According to HDA Analyzer, my sound card is muted; however, I can't unmute it through HDA Analyzer or anything else. According to alsamixer, everything is unmuted, though. According to the ALSA documentation, there's no 'model' id for my codec -- Conexant 5069 -- so I don't have an option to put in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf. What can I do to unmute the card???

Debian Hardware :: Lag On Every 5 Min Or So With Intel 7265 WiFi Card
Sep 13, 2015I have an intel 7265 AC wireless card. When I try to download something my estimated download time is tripled almost every 5 mins.And when I play an online game from steam (cs:go or dota2) the ping goes to 250-300 ms which generally stays around 80ms. I'm using debian jessie. So far, I've tried turning of the power save mode of the card, changing ISP and router but none of them worked. I have a fairly good internet connection (I'm using it with my other machines without a problem) so I don't think the connection or router is the problem. Below you can find some information about system.

Sep 19, 2015I have a problem with my laptop Dell Inspiron 1525 wireless on Jessie Cinnamon.
I have installed the b43 firmware and after that everything seemed working but just for a few seconds.
I have tried to reboot and after that I can't browse the internet just for a few seconds and after that Iceweasel loading and loading and nothing's happening.
I can't surf on the net just with cable but the wifi setup shows everything is okay 95% signal strength and connected.
Also tried reinstall the firmware and reboot and it's all the same after.
I can easily use my wifi with my smartphone too.
