View 1 RepliesAt Dell we have worked hard to build out the Dell Consumer Support Home Page to be a thorough support website providing all levels of self-support service, as well as providing easy access to all of the relevant information needed to obtain assisted support. The design of the page has grown organically over time, but we feel it's time to give the look/feel of the page a facelift.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBrowsers under Debian distros used to allow cookies per site but now it seems it is all or nothing. Perhaps I should install another web browser. I have Epiphany and Iceweasel.
My main problem is that I cannot set non-volatile the number of results per page in Google to 100.
I understand that a website can set a cookie which means a little text file with a no. in it will be created on the client side, and then the no. will get sent to the server with every visit. But how is this used to customize a page? Does this mean that a MySQL database *has* to be created, which can be used to match up that no. with a particular login name, for instance? How exactly is this pulled off?

View 9 Replies View Relatedusing ubuntu 10.04 I have followed the instructions here: [URL] for installing the Amazon downloader. I was able to purchase and download the .amz file from amazon, but my system doesn't know what to do with it. IOWS, if I click on the .amz file from the file browser or from firefox, it is opened as a binary file in gedit. Unfortunately, I can't locate where the downloader executable was installed and don't know how to make a file association.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo do this, I would like to recursively download all the pages within the domain, such that their link structure is preserved. This would be tedious to do by hand, however. As it stands, I could probably use wget for this, but I would prefer something more specially designed for site downloading. I have already tried webHTTrack, but found it unsuitable. Perhaps httrack with a particular set of command line parameters would work better?

One of the few things that keeps me hanging onto my Windows partition is the Amazon.com MP3 Downloader. There's a way to download Debian 5, Ubuntu 9.04, OpenSUSE, and Fedora packages, but they've never worked in Debian-based distro's that I've used in the past (Ubuntu, Mint, Crunchbang).Has anyone found a way around this that I haven't found yet?

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirefox used to work fine, then I played around (only) with privacy settings, and now it deletes all cookies (including ones set to expire in a month) at the end of the session. It is set to "remember history". Moving to a new profile is not an option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am aware of the multitude of firefox addons there are, but they are not really what I am looking for. I am also aware that I can just recover the temp files from my hard drive, that is not what I am looking for either. I was wondering if you guys knew of any actual software for linux that does the job, something like orbit downloader. The reason being is that orbit allowed multiple http connections at once, making for much faster downloads, much more efficient on system resources that browser addons. It was also in a neat little menu.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm totally new to ubuntu. I tried to download software from my MSDNAA account using wine. I installed wine from ubuntu software center, I went into terminal and wrote
Code:

Then I went into properties of the downloaded .exe file and allowed it to execute. And then I double clicked it and then I pushed the button to download, but it got stucked there.
I was curious if I would be able to view cookies from a command prompt when ssh'd into a machine. On a test machine running fedora 13, I found that the cookies were stored in a cookies.sqlite. I made sure that all instances of Firefox was closed and attempted to view the file running the following command
sqlite3 cookies.sqlite
It loaded but I was unable to run view any of the information because the database was locked? There were no instances of Firefox running and I check to make sure there were no services of Firefox running as well. Am I doing something wrong? Is this not the correct way to view cookies from the command line ? I have tried google searches and has since been unable to come up with anything.
I can manage my printer through the web browser interface in 12.2 without cookies but in 13.1 I need to allow cookies.

Is there an option to disable the cookies requirement?

View 1 Replies View Relatedhas anyone been successful in using the Amazon MP3 downloader on 11.2? It does no longer work because it wants specific (old) versions of libboost*:
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1001 > /usr/bin/amazonmp3
/usr/bin/amazonmp3: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_filesystem.so.1.36.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1002 > locate libboost_filesystem
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem-mt.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.39.0
I notified Amazon about this, and they said they do not know if or when there will be a running version of the MP3 downloader available and without it there is no way to download any MP3 from Amazon. They gave me back my money and recommended to buy elsewhere....
Does anyone know if installing the old version of libboost (from 11.1) will work? What else, aside from amazons downloader, does use libboost*? So what app might fail if I install the old version of libboost suitable for the downloader?
just wondering what others are using to find and find and download new music. I'm also curious to know of other alternatives to Nicotine+, which I've been using for a little while. I've recently found a nice little widget called Seesu, which is great so far. It lets you search up bands and listen to their songs, and you can download the .mp3 for free afterwards if you like it. Anyway, enough of my pseudo-advertising.
What do you all do to find new music? Are torrent clients like Vuze the way to go, or is software like Nicotine+ better suited for the job? Perhaps you prefer the way of sites like Bandcamp, or by downloading from various online music stores. In any event, it'd be interesting to see how you all go about building onto your playlists.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIMDB gives me a "recently viewed" list of pages I viewed recently (and a few of them were months ago, since I don't go there too often) at the bottom of every page I view. My cookies are enabled for session-only, have adblock plus, my ip changes every day, how are they doing that? How can I prevent it? What other websites are using the same trick? At this page [URL] there's a link there that says "Clear entire history", but I want to disable them from being able to track me like that, if they can track me, so can others.
