Ubuntu :: Recursive Site Downloader Unsuitable

To do this, I would like to recursively download all the pages within the domain, such that their link structure is preserved. This would be tedious to do by hand, however. As it stands, I could probably use wget for this, but I would prefer something more specially designed for site downloading. I have already tried webHTTrack, but found it unsuitable. Perhaps httrack with a particular set of command line parameters would work better?

I`m running Lucid on my laptop. Now I wish to install WinXP in dual-boot mode, but it says there are no suitable partitions for it. I`ve tried to install it on existing ntfs partitions as well as to create a new partition with windows partition manager (the one that is offered in the beginning of the installation), /sda7 is the result, but it won`t help.

I have to ubuntu machine (9.10 and 10.4) with a openvpn tunnel between them.This is the situation:

UbuntuA has one only interface etho and there are two openvpn instance: one bridge istance with br0 and another instance with tun0.
UbuntuA is not the gateway for networkA. UbuntuB is the gateway for NetworkB.I need to comunicate between pc on networkB e those on networkA.This is the "ping situation" (no pc tested has an active firewall):
ubuntuA vs ubuntuB: OK
ubuntuB vs ubuntuA: OK
pc on NetworkA vs ubuntuA and ubuntuB: OK[code].....

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...

I have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?

In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

i can only get 64bit from amazon's site. I tried running windows version in wine but it failed to work.edit: due to a mislabeled CD, I had errantly installed the 64bit version of Ubuntu and had not known until I was told later in this thread.

using ubuntu 10.04 I have followed the instructions here: [URL] for installing the Amazon downloader. I was able to purchase and download the .amz file from amazon, but my system doesn't know what to do with it. IOWS, if I click on the .amz file from the file browser or from firefox, it is opened as a binary file in gedit. Unfortunately, I can't locate where the downloader executable was installed and don't know how to make a file association.

One of the few things that keeps me hanging onto my Windows partition is the Amazon.com MP3 Downloader.There's a way to download Debian 5, Ubuntu 9.04, OpenSUSE, and Fedora packages, but they've never worked in Debian-based distro's that I've used in the past (Ubuntu, Mint, Crunchbang).Has anyone found a way around this that I haven't found yet?

I am aware of the multitude of firefox addons there are, but they are not really what I am looking for. I am also aware that I can just recover the temp files from my hard drive, that is not what I am looking for either. I was wondering if you guys knew of any actual software for linux that does the job, something like orbit downloader. The reason being is that orbit allowed multiple http connections at once, making for much faster downloads, much more efficient on system resources that browser addons. It was also in a neat little menu.

I'm totally new to ubuntu. I tried to download software from my MSDNAA account using wine. I installed wine from ubuntu software center, I went into terminal and wrote

, a window appeared and I clicked ok.
Then I went into properties of the downloaded .exe file and allowed it to execute. And then I double clicked it and then I pushed the button to download, but it got stucked there.

has anyone been successful in using the Amazon MP3 downloader on 11.2? It does no longer work because it wants specific (old) versions of libboost*:

Does anyone know if installing the old version of libboost (from 11.1) will work? What else, aside from amazons downloader, does use libboost*? So what app might fail if I install the old version of libboost suitable for the downloader?

just wondering what others are using to find and find and download new music. I'm also curious to know of other alternatives to Nicotine+, which I've been using for a little while. I've recently found a nice little widget called Seesu, which is great so far. It lets you search up bands and listen to their songs, and you can download the .mp3 for free afterwards if you like it. Anyway, enough of my pseudo-advertising.
What do you all do to find new music? Are torrent clients like Vuze the way to go, or is software like Nicotine+ better suited for the job? Perhaps you prefer the way of sites like Bandcamp, or by downloading from various online music stores. In any event, it'd be interesting to see how you all go about building onto your playlists.

I have downloaded and tried to use emusicj to download music from [URL] but without success. I have java 1.6 installed which is required but I have not been able to get it to work. I'm still trying to learn, but seem to be hitting a few walls when it comes to man pages. I don't know where else to look so I hope to get some help here - or at least another idea. I'm trying to learn c++ as well as *nix terminal commands, and I like to make a backup of my compiled program and .c files each time I reach a successful compile (99-100% bug free).
My problem is I like to use an alias instead of a script to backup my work onto a USB. I don't want the hundreds of log files (10K+) copied since I usually delete them anyway.
My alias:
How do I tell cp to ignore the folder '~/work/log' during the backup?
If cp doesn't have such an option, I am open to other ideas, but I would still prefer something that I can alias since I already backup my .bash_aliases file.
