Jun 14, 2011At the moment the Android version of Skype doesn't support video chat at the moment, just audio.There are lots of apps in Android for video chat (Oovoo, Tango), but I can't find one that will allow me to video chat from the phone to an Ubuntu laptop.

May 20, 2010I've been running 8.04 for a long time w/o problems. However, videos tended to hangup, as if waiting for more data. I have a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics card, so I attempted to load the latest driver. That landed me in Low Graphics Hell, where I couldn't change the resolution (even when a better one was offered) because I couldn't get to the bottom of the screen to get to 'Apply.' I had down loaded 10.04 and burned a couple of CDs, and I attempted to upgrade. But neither the Update Manager or CD worked because I couldn't get far enough down the update screen. After a long struggle, I have a reasonable resolution, with the Nividia x server running.
Now, when I try to up date, 10.04 is no longer offered to me, either by the Update Manager or the CD. Apparently, I've used up all of my chances to upgrade. What now?
Fedora :: Yum Update Offer Unneeded Package Only?
Apr 12, 2010Now, every time I do yum update my system will also offer me package for F12, F13, F14. But if I try to install it, it will not resolve because I my system is still F11. I don't remember exactly what the error message is, but I think it said that I should have system > 13 to install that packages. What should I do so next time I do yum update I just offered packages I needed only?

Jan 25, 2011I am trying to design an application which violates the DHCP. Specifically the difficulty in writing this application is physically sending the raw packet. I need some documentation on either a library that supports this or where to look for support for raw packet creation. I am not trying to create a raw datagram, that doesn't meet my needs because a raw datagram is still at layer 3 I need to craft a raw layer 2 PDU.
Specifically I want to
Send a very specific DHCPDISCOVER
Receive a DHCPOFFER
and pull apart the offer while never sending a DHCPREQUEST.
Specifically I am pulling apart various options that are sent in the DHCPOFFER. I have a raw DHCPDISCOVER already crafted and the formatted struct sockaddr_ll where I fault is I can't send the damn thing. Getting the file descriptor after calling socket is okay but what now? How would I write to that file descriptor and have it transmit?

Mar 30, 2010I installed Ubuntu 9.10 (desktop version) and it performs flawlessly. Now I want to add a second hard drive to the same box, install Ubuntu 9.10 *server* on it, and use GRUB to control which one boots.
Problem is, I'm a Windows pro but a Linux n00b. Should I disconnect the first hard drive (the one with Ubuntu desktop) before I do the server installation on the second (new) drive? Also, how do I edit GRUB's menu to offer a choice between the 2 OSes?

May 10, 2011I will try to keep this straight-forward. Yesterday I was able to access an ubuntu 10.10 (edubuntu) desktop using the tightVNC viewer that I installed on my Vista laptop. I never set anything up on the desktop it just worked and I didn't question it.
Today I get the following error on the viewer software: "Server did not offer supported security type" The only thing that has changed was that I installed a bunch of updates yesterday afternoon, but I am not sure what changed.

We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.
