Debian :: Cannot Allow Cookies Per Site

Aug 1, 2010

Browsers under Debian distros used to allow cookies per site but now it seems it is all or nothing. Perhaps I should install another web browser. I have Epiphany and Iceweasel.

My main problem is that I cannot set non-volatile the number of results per page in Google to 100.

Networking :: Enabling Full Routing Site To Site With Openvpn Not Using Masquerading?

Jul 27, 2010

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...

Networking :: Site To Site Vpn Racoon With Cisco Asa 5505 Routing?

Mar 25, 2010

I have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.

For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?

Programming :: How Do Cookies Work?

Mar 31, 2010

I understand that a website can set a cookie which means a little text file with a no. in it will be created on the client side, and then the no. will get sent to the server with every visit. But how is this used to customize a page? Does this mean that a MySQL database *has* to be created, which can be used to match up that no. with a particular login name, for instance? How exactly is this pulled off?

Debian :: How To Use Firestarter To Open Port To One Site Only?

Dec 6, 2010

I have a question about anybody who knows how to use firestarter firewall. I'm trying to get access to a Macromedia flash site that needs port 1935 open. While it is not a big issue to open the port, I want to do it just for the server that needs it. I do not want to open it to everybody else. I wonder if anybody has any idea of how to do this. Normally I just go to www.redhotpawn.com which is a chess playing site. I then pressed on the blitz button to go into a game. But it tells me access denied, and then the site has a warning about what it means. The site that mentions that if this is the case then this port has to be open. I don't have a problem of opening the port for the one site as I trust it. But I don't want the port open for every site. I know I can go into the firewall settings and under policy I click on the allow service port for. I put in the port number, but then I don't want to select all. I want to find out what the IP, host or network that I need to allow. Basically I only want to open the port to the one site.

Server :: Url Opens Same Site On Debian Lenny?

Feb 6, 2010

I installed for the sheer pleasure of it a webserver. includes apache2, postfix mail server, MySQL, MyDNS nameserver, PureFTPd, SpamAssassin, ClamAV, etc etc. (I have tried to use the config panels ispconfig and webmin)

The situation: There are 3 sites listed on the server, All 3 on different virtual hosts (obviously). The http access goes trough the 20080 port since my ISP blocks everything below 1024 (the bastards). I use a linksys router (192.168.1.1) with dmz pointing to 192.168.1.100 (server) The sites on the server:

inphone.be
fraksken.be
fraksken.is-a-geek.org (but appearently not geek enough)
I also gave them own IP's:
192.168.1.95
192.168.1.96
192.168.1.100

Debian :: Using Wget To Download Site For Offline Viewing

Nov 25, 2015

This is the command line switch I am using:

Code: Select allwget -p -k -e robots=off -U 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070802 SeaMonkey/1.1.4' -r www.website.com

For some reason it seems to be downloading too much and taking forever for a small website. It seems that it was following alot of the external links that page linked to.

But when I tried:

Code: Select allwget -E -H -k -K -p www.website.com

It downloaded too little. How much depth I should use with -r? I just want to download a bunch of recipes for offline viewing while staying at a Greek mountain village. Also I don't want to be a prick and keep experimenting on people's webpages.

Ubuntu Servers :: Access Web Site When Site's Domain Name / User's Local Server's Domain Name Are Same

Feb 18, 2010

In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

General :: View Cookies From Command Prompt?

Mar 11, 2011

I was curious if I would be able to view cookies from a command prompt when ssh'd into a machine. On a test machine running fedora 13, I found that the cookies were stored in a cookies.sqlite. I made sure that all instances of Firefox was closed and attempted to view the file running the following command

sqlite3 cookies.sqlite

It loaded but I was unable to run view any of the information because the database was locked? There were no instances of Firefox running and I check to make sure there were no services of Firefox running as well. Am I doing something wrong? Is this not the correct way to view cookies from the command line ? I have tried google searches and has since been unable to come up with anything.

Security :: Managing Flash Cookies - Relocating ~/.macromedia ?

Oct 27, 2010

I use different browsers for sites like facebook and general browsing (specifically rekonq for facebook, firefox for others).
However, I find that Flash cookies are shared between browsers, and are not cleared when clear my browser cookies.

Flash cookies are kept in ~/.macromedia, and it's OK for me to clear this periodically with a little cron job. However, I would really like separate places for flash cookies from rekonq and firefox.

Does anyone know how to do this? Maybe there is an environment variable which allows this?

My second implementation option would be to make a chrooted environment for each browser or something like that.
