Ubuntu :: Tar.bz2 And No Configure File?

Mar 7, 2011

Im trying to install a program (Celtx, a media pre-production assistant) that Ive downloaded as tar.bz2 file. Ive unpacked it, moved it into my Home folder, and then wanted to configure, make and install it through the terminal.

However theres no configure file (and no readme, help or install file either for that matter).I can cd to the Celtx folder in the terminal and then start the program with ./celtx but thats a bit tedious. How would I install it 'properly' if the ./configure command doesnt work?

Ubuntu :: Configure Xorg.conf File In Lucid?

Jun 8, 2010

All I need to do is get my screen resolution to 1024x768, I can currently only get 800x600 and that's unacceptable for school. I created an xorg.conf file in Lucid and it does in fact refer to and use it. what led me to believe that is when I looked in the mirror and noticed smoke slowly rolling out of my ears! After replacing some of that smoke with a cigarette I decided to make this thread. As I said, I created the xorg.conf.new file with:

Code:
sudo Xorg -configure from recovery mode. And then moved it to its proper place with:

Code:
cp /home/william/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

And that nested it right where it needs to be. X does in fact use it as confirmed by my Xorg.0.log.

Now I have an xorg.conf file, but am quickly becoming overwhelmed with information as to what to do. I've tried to create mode lines with xrandr, which gave me new settings, but I was unable to use them. Obviously the EDID info. is not being read because there is no mention of clock speed, Vsync or Hsync in my Xorg.0.log either. I have tried many things and really don't have time to spend all day at my computer, at least not with this issue. I'm in school and have to focus primarily on that right now. I will give what info I know is relevant starting with my monitor specs:

Dynex DX-LCDTV19
vertical resolution: 720 p
aspect ratio: 16:10
screen refresh rate: 60hz
comb filter: 3D/YC digital

Ubuntu :: Redirect Output Of Xorg -configure To A File?

Jun 29, 2010

Ubuntu 10.04

I booted to command line only and entered the following command: Sudo Xorg -configure > xorglog.txt

the command seems to run just fine and does create a new xorg.conf.new file but I would like to see all the output of the Xorg -configure command but it just scrolls by too fast and I can't go back to see it. Hence this is why I'm trying to do the > . It seems to ignore the >.

how I can see what the command is doing?

Ubuntu :: Configure Talika Dockbar (text File)?

Anyway is there any way to configure it, any text file...I searched it on ~/.configure but nothing there. As well on internet I couldn't find any solution. I know Xfce has an own iconozed dockbar applet, but I guess Talika is more configurable. Or there is any tweak for the inner dockbar applet on Xfce?

General :: Configure A File To Fit With System

Oct 7, 2010

I need to use MFix a open source program Therefore, because i don't have Linux on my computer i use Cygwin_NT-5.1 the latest version. From the help desk they told me that i need to configure a file to fit with my system. I just changed operation system to CYGWIN_NT-6.0 (instead of the command uname -s ; set opsys=$1. this was the only way i had an idea to do it, so i tell the programm that my sytem is a 6.0 but it isn't

then i wanted to install mfix and it gives me the error

../../model/make_mfix: line 119: syntax error near unexpected token '('
../../model/make_mfix: line 119: 'echo -n "Do you need debug version? (y/n) [no] "'

by looking in he make_mfix file it looks like this echo -n "Do you need debug version? (y/n) [no] "

Ubuntu :: Configure File & Folders / Applications Objects To Display

May 18, 2011

It functions perfectly well, but the Files & Folders object has as a feature a 'recent' section which displays recently opened files. This is much the same as a menu object available in Gnome, except with the latter you could clear recent files for security or privacy purposes - you cannot do this in Unit.I have found that if you drag a file from the 'recent' section in the Unity Files & Folders object to Trash it doesn't just delete the shortcut - it deletes the target as well.

It is not at all clear if and how you can configure the File & Folders and the Applications objects to display what you want rather than the default, and the inability to quickly and safely clear recently opened items is something I think is in need of a fix.

Ubuntu :: Edit File Discovered It Didn't Exist - Configure Grub?

I have recently installed Ubuntu Karmic on my laptop, which also has Windows 7. It now has GRUB, and I have been able to modify some settings via the GRUB command line. However, these changes are not permanent; they are reset the next time I load GRUB. I have seen many people trying to configure GRUB who have been pointed towards /boot/grub/menu.lst. I expect it would) I went to edit that file... and discovered that it did not exist. I am certain that I am using GRUB, not some other bootloader. Is there another possible way to configure GRUB, or somewhere else I might look for this file?

General :: Configure RTorrent To Stop Downloading After Certain File Size

Aug 26, 2010

I am looking for a way to configure rTorrent to stop downloading all torrents after they have downloaded x amount. For example, specify 15mb and as soon as the torrent reaches that size have it finish downloading the pieces it has requested and then start seeding partially completed. The reason for this is I'm trying to come up with a way to build ratio on a site where torrents are added very fast and at a very high frequency.

I download and add the torrents to rTorrent automatically via RSS, but I only want to download a small amount and seed that small piece while there are still a lot of people in the swarm (swarm drops off very quickly) and come out with a positive ratio from that small piece, beating the ratio clock so to speak. I thought it would be an interesting all be it somewhat impractical exercise in shell scripting, if rTorrent can be hooked into like that, documentation is sparse in some areas.
