View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and Samba 3.4. I've shared a folder and have accessed the share from a Windows 7 client. However, I've struggled to configure the share and folder so that the Win7 client can create files and/or folders in the share. Kept getting Permission Denied errors. Finally, (using Webmin) I set the permissions on the file folder so that "Other" had write access. I don't understand why this was necessary (and how unsecure this is). I already had the write access checkbox ticked for "User" but it wasn't enough.

What I have done is logged in through ssl as root.

Yes - I know about doing a right click in the background of the window to use the pop up menu to create a folder. BUT - ALAS - When the folder is full of files, there is no blank background space to click in so I cannot get the pop up menu to appear. Hence, I cannot create a new folder. Seems to me that the constant tinkering with Nautilus is leaving essential features missing or totally not-obvious to locate. Argh!!! Since the main menus are also missing (as compared to prior Fedora releases), I seem to be left with little choice other than to open a terminal window and do a mkdir command.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've searched and searched for a solution to this and cannot find one. I've installed phpMyAdmin on Fedora 11 using YUM. I've also got MySQL 5 latest and PHP 5 latest installed using YUM. My Apache server document root is var/www/html/ and I can go to [URL] to view my php files. MySQL has root user configured (as far as I can tell) and I have set the password for the root user. After installing phpMyAdmin, I did restart httpd service and I have mysqld enabled and running. However, after installing phpMyAdmin, it does not create a folder in var/www/html/ and so, of course, I get told that phpMyAdmin cannot find navigation.php when I go to [URL].
I've edited /etc/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php, but this has not helped. I've even DL'd phpMyAdmin from their site and copied the files over to /var/www/html/phpMyAdmin/ and chmod'd the files and folders to 777 permissions, but this has not worked, either. I still get the same "unable to find navigation.php" error.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 11.04, I noticed something strange, being that when I want to drag a file or folder from one Nautilus folder window to another which is not visible, I can no longer hold the item over said folder's taskbar button and wait for it to appear. It just shows the + for copy, and when I let go (which I have no choice but to eventually do), it creates a launcher to that item (I assume it's doing that, and not actually copying there, but the + has me unsure).
I've looked in Nautilus's preferences to see if this is some new behaviour that I can revert back to, but could find nothing there.
I'm of course using the Classic desktop with bottom panel being the taskbar. If you know how I can rectify this, please let me know, as the times I would want to create a file or folder launcher without the usual hassle would be rare, but I am constantly dragging stuff from one folder to another, and it would be a real pain to have to line up source and destination folders each time.

I installed them succesffuly. but when i compile the code it is showing number of errors. actually i hav to copy the libnewt.so file into /usr/lib folder. when i copy tat file it is displaying error as permission denied.
