View 4 RepliesAudacity doesn't have a menu bar anymore! It doesn't even have that narrow space where a menu bar would be!My problem doesn't have anything to do with Gnome's menubars as far as I can tell, but I even tried removing and reinstalling Audacity.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAs you probably noticed, the "Light" themes (Ambiance and Radiance) as well as quite a few other gtk themes now enable moving windows by grabbing the menubar, which is quite useful with the unified titlebar/menubar style of certain themes.
So does anyone know of any way I can force Firefox to behave the same way.
I would prefer to do it through userChrome.css rather than adding an extension but whatever works.
Firefox is the only non-gtk app I use extensively so I'm not too bothered about any other apps that don't follow the behaviour.
I want to change the color of just the menubar: the bar at the top of the webbrowser that has "Menu Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help" etc. I do NOT want to change the color of the Ubuntu Top and Bottom "taskbars." If I go to System-Preferences-Appearance and customize Controls it always changes all three. Is there a way to just change the color of Firefox's menubar so it's more decipherable from the Window Border?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt feels like it is a keyboard problem because the symptoms always show after pressing a key.
In most instances, a line I am typing in "gedit" at the correct place in the text is unexpectedly continued a few lines downward even though no arrow key has been pressed. In another instance, I click "new thread" in Linuxquestions, a new window opens asking for a title, after entering the title I click "Click Here to Find Similar Threads", a new smaller window opens on top of the existing one and shows the existing options but as soon as I select (click on) one of these options, the main Linuxquestions window disappears and there is no option of "going back" to it and no "back" button to click.
If the keyboard needs cleaning, how do I do that? I found a few cleaning hints about separate keyboards but nothing about laptops.
The little window that pops up if you download something.

I installed the Gnome global menu bar URL... for my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop. All that was there was the files that I had to make and make install. But this happens when I type make or make installNo targets specified and no makefile found. View 3 Replies View RelatedI heard all about the awesomeness of Firefox 4 and decided to ditch the old Fedora default one (3.6.16). I put the firefox folder in the .mozilla directory and I run it from there. The problem is that the only plugin I have is the 64-bit Flash plugin (because it is the only one in the plugins folder in the .mozilla directory). I have no idea where the other plugins for things like Adobe Reader an VLC are. If anyone knows Fedora well, I want my plugins to work in the new Firefox.
View 4 Replies View Related(I am new to Ubuntu though have experimented with various Linux flavors in the past.) I have been struggling with this issue with Firefox 3.6.17 on Ubuntu 10.10. When I start Firefox it always loads the previous session's tabs, though I have the option set to load home page, not restore tabs. Where would it be picking this up from ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but show Desktop Ctrl-Alt-D suddenly stopped working for Firefox only (in all workspaces).
Any ideas what might have caused this? Any work-arounds? (apart from Ctrl-Alt-(arrow) / switching to a different workspace - which is a fair workaround)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed VMware Player on my Ubuntu 10.10 machine, which uses Macbuntu skin. Loaded Vista on VMware Player so I could sync my ipod... works great. One problem I want to use VMware Player's unity mode but there is no menu to select it. From all of the screen shots I have seen on the web there is suppose to be a menu bar selection at the top next to the ubuntu (apple in my case) symbol to select unity mode through... but it is no where to be found. Here is a screen shot with VMware loaded with Vista, VMware is the active window:
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs that rather strange or am I missing something. Firefox is obviously open and connected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed FC14 on my system as I was previously on FC8. Everything seems to be working fine, but I ran into an issue today where I wanted to kill firefox. I checked in gnome system monitor and I did not see a running process for firefox or firefox-bin. I also ran a "ps -e" command from a terminal as root and did not see it there either. I don't know if this is a fedora issue or a firefox issue, so I am posting it here first.
And just to vent on something that IS a firefox issue. I have the new firefox 4 running and when I click the X in the top corner, it doesn't give me the option to save my current tabs and exit like the previous versions did. That was a feature I liked.
I have a laptop with Redhat 5 installed and a Windows 7 Virtual Machine. The laptop is connected to the internet but I cant access any web pages in firefox - it just comes up with Server Not Found (tried all different sites). I know the internet connection is good as if i go into my windows VM firefox works normal. Ive checked the network settings and tried setting to 'no proxy' and automatically detect but nothing seems to work. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and still get the same.
Ive tried both wired and wireless but makes no difference. Seems really weird that it works in the Windows VM but not in Redhat which its booting into.
If I try opening a folder from the menubar or any other programs, it doesn't work. It does work when I run nautilus from the terminal and, oddly, try to open Computer from the menubar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI somehow messed up the file association of the panels.... Alle Folders in the "places" are linked to vlc media player.... except the "Computer" icon If I drag a folder on the desktop it opens with nautilus as it should I remember that i wrote somewhere manually "vlc..." to associate a videodvd, that worked too well I deinstalled vlc, but i only get an errormessage then " cant execute child process" so its still linked to vlc.....

The pic I installed as desktop background is still there, and the desktop icons are as well, but no sidebar or taskbar/menubar at the top,I dont know if this is a resolution issue, or if unity is the desktop environment then it maybe' isn't enabled?,...
while trying to fix this issue(in recovery mode) I got an error message saying that my hardware doesn't support unity, I do not know if that is the problem or not, everything worked fine until I tried to run compiz fusion, now all I have is a desktop background and icons?? I am still learning the Linux environment and how to do things with the command line

View 4 Replies View RelatedI download a file to my laptop desktop, it saves above and behind the panel menubar (Applications / Places / System). As such, the files aren't easily accessible. How might I ensure that downloaded files are visible on the screen and not 100px above & behind it? Perhaps related, I've got a second monitor attached to the laptop (primary). It seems this second monitor's resolution is affecting where downloaded files are put...out of sight.
Primary laptop: Dell Vostro 1310. Resolution = 1280x800
Secondary monitor: Acer 19-inch LCD Flat Panel. Resolution = 1280x1024.
I've tried all the settings in Monitor Preferences to no avail. Searched Google without luck. Currently on Ubuntu 10.10 and the system is (according to Update Manager) up-to-date.
