I installed the Gnome global menu bar URL... for my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop. All that was there was the files that I had to make and make install. But this happens when I type make or make installNo targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.Is there a prebuild version of the gnome global menu bar on the Ubuntu Software Center, or can someone provide the link?
I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 (all the way from 8.04) and I can't seem to get Tomboys global hotkey bindings to work. In addition to Tomboys own settings, I have been messing with gconf-editor, but had no success there either. All I need is Alt+F11 combination to open the default note and I have no idea where to go next
As you probably noticed, the "Light" themes (Ambiance and Radiance) as well as quite a few other gtk themes now enable moving windows by grabbing the menubar, which is quite useful with the unified titlebar/menubar style of certain themes.
So does anyone know of any way I can force Firefox to behave the same way. I would prefer to do it through userChrome.css rather than adding an extension but whatever works.
Firefox is the only non-gtk app I use extensively so I'm not too bothered about any other apps that don't follow the behaviour.
Audacity doesn't have a menu bar anymore! It doesn't even have that narrow space where a menu bar would be!My problem doesn't have anything to do with Gnome's menubars as far as I can tell, but I even tried removing and reinstalling Audacity.
I installed VMware Player on my Ubuntu 10.10 machine, which uses Macbuntu skin. Loaded Vista on VMware Player so I could sync my ipod... works great. One problem I want to use VMware Player's unity mode but there is no menu to select it. From all of the screen shots I have seen on the web there is suppose to be a menu bar selection at the top next to the ubuntu (apple in my case) symbol to select unity mode through... but it is no where to be found. Here is a screen shot with VMware loaded with Vista, VMware is the active window:
I want to change the color of just the menubar: the bar at the top of the webbrowser that has "Menu Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help" etc. I do NOT want to change the color of the Ubuntu Top and Bottom "taskbars." If I go to System-Preferences-Appearance and customize Controls it always changes all three. Is there a way to just change the color of Firefox's menubar so it's more decipherable from the Window Border?
I have two major issues, and one minor one, after I started using Ubuntu, I tried searching the forum for them, but couldn't find anything relevant to my problems.First issue: Screenshots and the cursor. This is probably a very easily fixed issue, but none-the-less, I can not figure it out.How do I NOT include the cursor in my screenshots on Ubuntu 9.10?What I do is, I press the Prt Scrn button, and my cursor is always there in the image, and I don't want that.Second is pidgin.I love it, but every time I boot it up, my friendly name is reverted back to firefoxfag.I think it has something to do with me using gmail for msn, but I'm not sure...Also, as a last very small issue, the global hotkeys on audacious don't respond unless i open preferences, open settings for global hotkeys, then close down the settings..
If I try opening a folder from the menubar or any other programs, it doesn't work. It does work when I run nautilus from the terminal and, oddly, try to open Computer from the menubar.
I somehow messed up the file association of the panels.... Alle Folders in the "places" are linked to vlc media player.... except the "Computer" icon If I drag a folder on the desktop it opens with nautilus as it should I remember that i wrote somewhere manually "vlc..." to associate a videodvd, that worked too well I deinstalled vlc, but i only get an errormessage then " cant execute child process" so its still linked to vlc.....
I just upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 on my compaq laptop, My Issue is this, the upgrade went well for being over the internet, rebooted, got to the kewl new desktop environment, then tried to enable compiz fusion desktop cube, and darn it if I didnt lose the desktop environment. The pic I installed as desktop background is still there, and the desktop icons are as well, but no sidebar or taskbar/menubar at the top,I dont know if this is a resolution issue, or if unity is the desktop environment then it maybe' isn't enabled?,...
while trying to fix this issue(in recovery mode) I got an error message saying that my hardware doesn't support unity, I do not know if that is the problem or not, everything worked fine until I tried to run compiz fusion, now all I have is a desktop background and icons?? I am still learning the Linux environment and how to do things with the command line
One day I opened Konqueror and it didn't have the menu bar! What should I do?
Here's a screenshot (this may or may not be useful, but the Konqueror instance in the sceenshot hung up and had to be killed after I took that screenshot):
I download a file to my laptop desktop, it saves above and behind the panel menubar (Applications / Places / System). As such, the files aren't easily accessible. How might I ensure that downloaded files are visible on the screen and not 100px above & behind it? Perhaps related, I've got a second monitor attached to the laptop (primary). It seems this second monitor's resolution is affecting where downloaded files are put...out of sight.
I've tried all the settings in Monitor Preferences to no avail. Searched Google without luck. Currently on Ubuntu 10.10 and the system is (according to Update Manager) up-to-date.
I would like to have a global equalizer in KDE. I have done a bit of searching and didn't find anything that looked promising. It looks easy with ubuntu since it uses Pulse audio. I actually installed pulse audio and it seems to have somewhat integrated lol but I can't find an equalizer to see if it works.
Been looking online and have only been able to find PPA lines. I tried adding them to software sources with no joy. I keep getting an error message. Are there any .deb packages for global menu? If not can anyone give me straight forward steps on how to install it? I am running Jaunty.
Is there a way to see the global statistics in KTorrent? I'm referring to the overall share ratio and the total amount of data downloaded & uploaded. - not for the current session, but an all-time info edit: KTorrent version 3.3.4
I'm looking for the file in which global keybindings are set for Gnote. The man page claims they are stored in gconf --> '/apps/gnote/global_keybindings/open_start_here', /apps /gnote/global_keybindings/show_note_ menu'
I have a ~/.gconf/apps/gnote directory, but no files to set the individual keybindings. The keybindings work and can be set from within gnote, so i know they have to be somewhere on my system. Anyone have any ideas where I might look? I'm using Openbox on a Karmic command line install. I have no gconf-editor, and gnote looks to be the only program installed that uses gconf.
I have just installed LUbuntu on a machine, mostly to try it out. I have been trying to setup a global proxy, but there doesn't appear to be an option for that. I have changed the /etc/wgetrc file to enable the proxy & set the proxy in there, but this has not helped.
I actually like some aspects of the global menu, but the reality is that a better solution for non-maximized windows is to just have the menu in the titlebar, and have title hide when you hover over it to reveal the menu, just like it does for maximized windows. You aren't losing any screen space with this solution.Having to click on a window, then go all the way back to the top left of the screen is hardly a convenience, especially when using a touchpad.
In Perl. I can't find the global variable for $_ (except not $_ it's the one to specify AFTER the matched string.) its dollar sign then something else. Does anyone have a cheat sheet for global symbols?
I'm really liking the global-menu bar that I recently installed, except for one thing: The application name on lots of programs shows up non capitalized or in the picture above the name of Google Chrome shows up as 'google-chrome'. Being the extremely organized person I am (verging on OCD), this bugs me. A lot. Is there any way to change it?
