View 1 RepliesWhile attempting to download an epub file, I chose "open with the ebook widget" and to run rather than save and then clicked the box which says "always chose to do this and don't show this window again" (or something equivalent). The operation failed to bring up the file in the widget and the window no longer appears so I cannot try something else, e.g. "save".
How do I recover the original setting? (i.e. untick the box on the window that now does not appear).
I am using the latest Mint on a multi-booted DELL Studio 1740 notebook.
I have installed dwm as window manager and whenever I start firefox it crashes after a few seconds. When I use the gnome window manager everything works fine.Anyone has a hint for me what I can do?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone know the trick to getting Ubuntu to show the contents of a window while I resize it? It WAS doing this until I loaded up the drivers for my Nividia Quador 135M (works great!) I'm very happy with my Ubuntu 9.10, I even have all the bouncy window effects running.
Still, I would love get rid of the "faded blue resizing box" and see the contents instead.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 10.04 and I use a left panel to show window selector.
I have the problem that Window Selector continuously change the window list from one column to two columns of windows icons.
It is so impossible to click on a window icon to select it.
I've tried to set the size to larger and different sizes. I've tried to show or hide the panel. I've tried to group or ungroup windows.
Is there a way to tell windows selector to stay in one column windows list?
Vidalia control panel has no check box for "show this window on startup". Is there a way using linux commands to stop it from popping up or would I need to change something else?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI heard all about the awesomeness of Firefox 4 and decided to ditch the old Fedora default one (3.6.16). I put the firefox folder in the .mozilla directory and I run it from there. The problem is that the only plugin I have is the 64-bit Flash plugin (because it is the only one in the plugins folder in the .mozilla directory). I have no idea where the other plugins for things like Adobe Reader an VLC are. If anyone knows Fedora well, I want my plugins to work in the new Firefox.
View 4 Replies View Related(I am new to Ubuntu though have experimented with various Linux flavors in the past.) I have been struggling with this issue with Firefox 3.6.17 on Ubuntu 10.10. When I start Firefox it always loads the previous session's tabs, though I have the option set to load home page, not restore tabs. Where would it be picking this up from ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but show Desktop Ctrl-Alt-D suddenly stopped working for Firefox only (in all workspaces).
Any ideas what might have caused this? Any work-arounds? (apart from Ctrl-Alt-(arrow) / switching to a different workspace - which is a fair workaround)
Firefox doesn't show subtitles from a video source. What do I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I click on the button to close Firefox I get a warning message saying the window is busy and not responding and asking if I want to shut the application. It disappears after about three seconds.
This happens even in safe-mode with one tab open. It's version 3.0.19 on Jaunty.
I run Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition. Whenever I start Firefox, the window is displayed in fullscreen without the usual controls (close, maximize and minimize). It even covers up the application bar on the left. As far as I can see, this issue only occurs with firefox. Other apps are not affected.

I am dyslexic. Is there a command for install webcam drivers that I can copy and paste to terminal window?
Is that rather strange or am I missing something. Firefox is obviously open and connected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed FC14 on my system as I was previously on FC8. Everything seems to be working fine, but I ran into an issue today where I wanted to kill firefox. I checked in gnome system monitor and I did not see a running process for firefox or firefox-bin. I also ran a "ps -e" command from a terminal as root and did not see it there either. I don't know if this is a fedora issue or a firefox issue, so I am posting it here first.
And just to vent on something that IS a firefox issue. I have the new firefox 4 running and when I click the X in the top corner, it doesn't give me the option to save my current tabs and exit like the previous versions did. That was a feature I liked.
I have a laptop with Redhat 5 installed and a Windows 7 Virtual Machine. The laptop is connected to the internet but I cant access any web pages in firefox - it just comes up with Server Not Found (tried all different sites). I know the internet connection is good as if i go into my windows VM firefox works normal. Ive checked the network settings and tried setting to 'no proxy' and automatically detect but nothing seems to work. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and still get the same.
Ive tried both wired and wireless but makes no difference. Seems really weird that it works in the Windows VM but not in Redhat which its booting into.
I like to alias my firefox commands so I can open up mutiple pages at once. This works great. firefox [URL]
But if I have firefox already up and running it will open as tabs of the firefox I already have running. How can I open the multiple pages in a new window in this case?
- Using -no-remote could work, but I would have to make a whole different firefox profile for each set of pages, not really a solution. - Also tried setting it to a particular display and it opened as a tab again. ie. firefox [URL] -display=":0.0"
For the last year I was using the version of Firefox that came with 32-bit Karmic Koala. Recently I installed 64-bit Maverick. Meerkat, so I'm now using Firefox 3.6.10. Previously, when first opening Firefox, the window aligned to the left edge of the screen. Now it is centered. The window dimensions are correctly retained between sessions, but not the position. Can I get it to open at the left again?
