Networking :: Unable To Connect To Printer?

Jul 8, 2011

I have a network printer which is on a windows domain/workgroup. Earlier I use to connect to the printer with URI socket://10.x.x.x:9100 and it worked fine. Then I after some time the going got tough and at the moment I am not able to print.

Initially I thought that I need to upgrade CUPS and even downloaded its latest version (did not installed it though).

My trouble shooting started with the ping then telnet followed it. Following is the output of telnet

Code:
****@linux-rafr:~> telnet 10.x.x.x 9100
Trying 10.x.x.x...
Connected to 10.x.x.x.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
****@linux-rafr:~>

I tried to telnet by turning off the firewall but no good. Hope someone has a solution to this issue.

BTW when test page print job is viewed in CUPS the following is the message.

Unable to write print data: Broken pipe

Ubuntu Networking :: Vista Unable To Connect To Samba Printer

Feb 22, 2010

I'm having some problems with sharing my printer via SAMBA. Connected to my Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop is a HP office-jet D135 witch I shared via samba. I have no problems printing from my Ubuntu laptop. And in Vista I can see and access all the other shares, including the printer. But ones i try to access the printer I get a pop-up window telling me: "unable tot connect to printer error code 0x00000709 check if the name is correct or if the printer is connected to the network" ( but of course in Dutch). What is going wrong here?My /etc/samba/smb.conf

Fedora :: Networking F11 With Windows XP (Canon Printer)

Aug 25, 2009

I am a new convert to Fedora with very little knowledge of Linux in general. I have managed to install Fedora 11 on my Advent 8315 laptop and I have wireless connection via my Belkin Wireless N modem router. I have always been able to setup Windows networking successfully but Fedora is much more complex, using terminology that I am not familiar with. What I need to do to achieve networking with my Windows computer? I especially want to network to my Canon printer which is connected to the Windows PC.

I am unable to connect to my printer wirelessly. I get this: Idle - "Connecting to printer..." The computer never connects. I can print a configuration report and get the ip address. If I type that in a webrowser, I get an error: unable to connect. Even if I plug the printer into the computer by a usb, I am unable to access the printer's ip address in the webrowser. I'm not sure how to proceed on getting the printer working wirelessly. It is a hp 6940 I use the HP Deskjet 6940 Series hpijs, 3.10.2rc1.9 driver. I have only recently been having printer problems. Ubuntu :: Unable To Connect Printer Via Network?

Jul 4, 2010

I give up.. after an hour trying to get my HP 7600 to network connect

My main box is usb connected to my HP Photosmart 7600 and works fine, my daughter has her winxp box connected to it over network as well. My wife's Ubuntu box (same OS and version as mine 9.10) CANNOT connect in any way, shape or form. I've tried every protocal, port, helper program (hp-setup, cups local webpage etc..) and nothing. I have the printer shared.

why connecting to a network printer in the same OS and version would take so much work?

Also we're all on the same network, & subnet with no filtering or firewalling in between the boxes.

*resolved* After trying everything else I restarted cups on the box the printer is attached and everything mysteriously works.

Debian :: Canon Printer - Lp0 - "Printer Not Connected -- Check Your Connection"

Jul 31, 2011

I have a canon printer which was working so far. After my latest upgrade its giving errors saying "Printer not connected -- Check your connection" Fortunately I had a backup of my root before the upgrade and one difference I see is that on the new system theres no /dev/usb/lp0 which there is on the old one. So how do I make it? Or should I use the /dev/lp0? Note they are different:

[Code].....

So (naturally) when I tried to make a softlink from /dev/usb/lp0 to /dev/lp0 it did not work.

Ubuntu :: Canon MX340 Printer Not Printing?

Feb 4, 2011

Been using ubnutu gnome for a loooong time and my printer (Canon MX340) has been running just fine, configuration and usage.

I now switch to kde. configure my printer the same way i would under gnome and as soon as i send a job, it processes for about 3 seconds and just marks "stopped" under status. nothing goes through anymore!!

i've updated from 4.5 to 4.6 with backports and nothing is happening on there either.

im running maverick amd64 and using the i386 drivers (with dpkg -i --force-all) which are still recognized even under kde.

p.s.: the printer normally runs as wireless standalone (no samba/cups involvment whatsoever)

Ubuntu Installation :: 9.10 - Canon Color ImageClass MF8050cn Printer

Apr 2, 2010

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit on an Intel i7. I just bought a Canon color ImageClass MF8050cn laser printer and connected it to the network. I let the software pick a driver, but when I print my document goes into a black hole never to be found again. I also have a Mac and a Vista machine which can both connect just fine and print in color. So it's not the printer.

Has anyone successfully made this work? If so, what driver are you using, where do I get it if it's not in Synaptic, and what settings do I use? I checked on the Canon site, but they only support Windows and Mac. Before anyone goes there, I would like to use a non-generic driver for this if possible. I'm at work right now and the printer is at home, so I can't get specifics at the moment.

Ubuntu :: Installing Canon Printer Driver - Missing LSB Information

Jun 8, 2010

I am running Lucid 64bit on my laptop and been trying to install a canon printer driver LBP3200 on it. There are some comprehensive tutorials that I have been following and they worked on my desktop. However the last thing I have to do is

Code:
sudo update-rc.d ccpd defaults 50
which gives me the error

Code:
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/ccpd missing LSB information
update-rc.d: see [URL]
System start/stop links for /etc/init.d/ccpd already exist.

I checked in /etc and I do not have the rc.d dir! I have rc0.d through to rc6.d and rcS.d dir, but no rc.d one. Is this normal? and if so how can I get the correct file to start/stop the ccpd daemon for the printer? At the moment the print command brings up the printer icon for about ten seconds and then it disappears and nothing happens.
