I checked in /etc and I do not have the rc.d dir! I have rc0.d through to rc6.d and rcS.d dir, but no rc.d one. Is this normal? and if so how can I get the correct file to start/stop the ccpd daemon for the printer? At the moment the print command brings up the printer icon for about ten seconds and then it disappears and nothing happens.
I just bought a Canon MF4370dn printer. It comes with Windows drivers on a cd. I was able to configure it for Windows 7 but not for Linux. Where can I get a Linux (Fedora 13) driver?

# rpm -ivh [file name of common module for CUPS drivers]
This rpm package construct was used in the Fedora distro.
Does it also work in openSUSE?
The only other construct given was for a deb package.
I looked in YasT for the driver but it was not there.
I've been running Xubuntu 9.04 for the past couple of months but have difficulty installing my Canon MX-860 wireless printer. Everything else works perfectly and connects wirelessly to internet. Since I run a couple of other Win based computers, printing from the Toshiba 1100 laptop hasn't been a problem. It would be an advantage. I tried to install the latest Xubuntu distro on the Toshiba and it installed but could not connect to the wireless Atheros card. Where should I start? get Distro 10.04 working first or try and install the printer with the existing distro?

I have read this wiki page but unfortunately it is a little old. I still have followed/adapted the instructions there but it fails on my system on step 6. I will explain below.
Latest Canon drivers in the official website is v3.10. US version of it can be obtained from here.
When I try to install .deb package in the driver file archive I get following output:

Need to install a Wacom Intuos2 tablet. ALso Have a Canon MP620 multi-function printer that YaST does not see. It tells me that it is a bad port. I have pinged it and it is there but YaST won't let me install it.

I recently reinstalled my system with 11.3 64 bit, and after installing the canon rpms and creating the printer I get the following error in /var/log/cups/error_log:

Ive found the drivers for my printer (Cannon MP 210) but i have no idea what to do with the files. The file for the scanner is a .tgz file, and the printer driver is a .tar file. When i connected my printer a few minutes ago, ubuntu 10.10 brought me to the installation and i installed and older printers driver (mp 180) but the scanner wont work and a bit of excess ink is on the test paper.

I was wandering if anyone may know of a way to install it or if anyone knows of any other available drivers. After my latest upgrade its giving errors saying "Printer not connected -- Check your connection" Fortunately I had a backup of my root before the upgrade and one difference I see is that on the new system theres no /dev/usb/lp0 which there is on the old one. So how do I make it? Or should I use the /dev/lp0? Note they are different:

I have installed Canon ImageRunner 2018i on my linux box using CUPS web interface. When I try to install this as a network printer from a Windows XP machine, the windows XP machine keeps asking me for a device driver. Is there a way to configure the printer on CUPS/Samba so that when I try to install it on Windows XP machine as a network printer, it does not ask me for a device driver?

The summary is as follow:
I have download a printer driver and had installed but got error when I tried to printer a test page.
Been using ubnutu gnome for a loooong time and my printer (Canon MX340) has been running just fine, configuration and usage.
I now switch to kde. configure my printer the same way i would under gnome and as soon as i send a job, it processes for about 3 seconds and just marks "stopped" under status. nothing goes through anymore!!
i've updated from 4.5 to 4.6 with backports and nothing is happening on there either.
im running maverick amd64 and using the i386 drivers (with dpkg -i --force-all) which are still recognized even under kde.
p.s.: the printer normally runs as wireless standalone (no samba/cups involvment whatsoever)
Is there a way to print from a Canon MX 330 All-in-One printer in Ubuntu 9.04? I'm trying to print through a Linksys WRT54G router. The printer is physically connected to a Desktop PC running Windows Vista (64-bit).I've tried installing the printer though CUPS to no avail. I tried the iP4600, iP3600 and iP2600 drivers and none of them have worked for me. I've even tried the Gutenprint PIXMA IP4600 drivers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit on an Intel i7. I just bought a Canon color ImageClass MF8050cn laser printer and connected it to the network. I let the software pick a driver, but when I print my document goes into a black hole never to be found again. I also have a Mac and a Vista machine which can both connect just fine and print in color. So it's not the printer.
Has anyone successfully made this work? If so, what driver are you using, where do I get it if it's not in Synaptic, and what settings do I use? I checked on the Canon site, but they only support Windows and Mac. Before anyone goes there, I would like to use a non-generic driver for this if possible. I'm at work right now and the printer is at home, so I can't get specifics at the moment.
