Ubuntu :: No Torrent Clients Will Connect To Any Peers?

Jun 6, 2011

I've used Transmission for about a year now, and i haven't had any problems with it. But a couple of weeks ago it suddenly wouldn't connect to any peers. It gets peer list from tracker, then nothing happens.Ive tried using different clients (Vuze and Deluge) and the same story goes for both. Ive tried restarting the router in case of any DNS crap, getting nothing.Ive installed Firestarter only to create an exception for traffic on the torrent ports (even though it probably is pointless)Now both google and myself seem to be out of ideas. Does anybody have something i could try out and possibly fix this. Everything points to some software issue...

Ubuntu :: 11.04 - Transmission Not Seeding To Connected Peers

Aug 16, 2011

I'm having a small issue with Transmission. (I am running Ubuntu 11.04). Every time I attempt to download a torrent, it will download fine, though I could do some minor improvements. The problem I am having is that once it finishes, the torrent will just sit there and say "Seeding to 0 of 0 connected peers" when I am sure as hell there are peers to seed to. I have done this with multiple torrents and they all seem to do the same thing.

Ubuntu :: Remotely Kick Off A 100% Automated System Update?

Jun 17, 2011

I have a client that needs 5 machines updated. They are all running Ubuntu 9.04. Long story short, I can only log in over VPN for the time being (as they're in another city).

That said, is there any good way to remotely update the systems without the need to remain logged in (e.g.via SSH)? I'd like to simply kick off the updates and check back in at a later time.

Server :: Kick Start Inastallation In Rhel 5

Jan 18, 2010

I have problem while configuring kickstart installation in rhel 5.2 .

I have followed bellow listed steps.

i, Copied iso.img into my server

ii, # mount o loop iso.img /tmp/iso # cp -a /tmp/iso/* /tmp/iso_new/ # system-config-kickstart - - generate ks.cfg ( creating kickstart configuration file) # cp /root/ks.cf /tmp/iso_new/isolinux/ ( As suggested by red hat I have copied ks.cgf file into /isolinux/ folder.

iii) mkisofs -R -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -o /tmp/new_1.iso /tmp/ iso_new # to create bootable disk

iv) Then started the system using this newly created iso image through HP ILO console and the system got booted successfully with boot prompt.

v) After executing the linux ks=cdrom:/ks.cfg from the boot prompt, we got a error by saying there is no CDROM deducted in your Machine and the installation got terminated .

vi) As per my understanding the ISO image is mounted as Virtual CD-ROM (/dev/scd0) in HP ILO.

Why the we are getting CD-ROM related Error ? How we can avoid this error? Is there any other set of configuration to achieve this ?

Howver, I just can't get into the much said "boot prompt".

Do we need to press certain hot key during certain stage of reboot?

Fedora :: Screensaver Doesn't Kick In Or Display Doesn't Suspend/sleep?

Jul 25, 2009

Anyone noticing intermittent problems with the screensaver not kicking in or the display not sleeping? This is in gnome under F11.I have the Power Management Preferences set to put the display to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity and gnome screensaver is configured for 5 minutes idle time.On a regular basis, I'll leave my computer come back anda) the screensaver hasn't kicked inorb) the screensaver kicked in, but the power management features didn't kick in to put the display to sleep. It seems to be an intermittent problem and usually it goes away after I restart X, but then at some point it comes back. In the past, I've gotten in the habit of being logged in for weeks/months at a time but I find that I can't go more than a few hours without logging out and back in or else the screen won't go to sleep.

Ubuntu Servers :: Grub To Automatically Boot - Wont Automatically Select One

Feb 28, 2011

I am having trouble getting grub to automatically boot into ubuntu server. When I turn on my server the grub menu shows up and shows me the choices. They all work fine except that grub wont automatically select one. This wouldn't be too much of a problem but this is a headless server and I can't boot into ubuntu without a keyboard. I tried looking through the grub 2 documentation but nothing seemed to work when I edited the conf file.

Ubuntu Networking :: Automatically Obtain A New IP?

Jan 26, 2010

I have an Ubuntu server running behind a router and I generally manage it from a remote location. I ran into a problem today when I changed the subdomain that the router is on and in turn changed all of the ip addresses for everything on the local network. After restarting the router, I can no longer access the Ubuntu server.

I made sure that I changed the port forwarding settings to reflect the changes in ip addresses. Also the router does not even show the Ubuntu server as having an ip address issued to it. So from that I guess that the server never requested for a new ip after the router restarted. I think I've had this problem before and I ended up restarting the entire server manually. I know that if I restart it, everything should be back to normal. That's what I'll have to end up doing, but I wanted to avoid having this problem in the future, so I was wondering if there is any way to set up the server so that it requests for a new ip address automatically.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wifi Not Loading Automatically?

Jan 11, 2010

I am a complete newbie to Ubuntu. Just installed it today and everything I have done so far has been found and worked out using forums such as this. So far I have installed ndiswrapper, the latest version, and got my wifi card working. In fact I am online now writing this!

Problem is when I shutdown and reboot. My wireless connection won't automatically run. It won't even show in the top left that I have a wifi connection. There is no "enable wireless" tickbox. I have to type in the terminal:

sudo depmod - a
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
then my WEP key
then it works.

BTW I have no idea what those commands do I just found them on a forum. I can't seriously have to do this everything I boot up?!! Can this be automated or is there a better fix?

Ubuntu Networking :: Log Into A Drive Automatically When Logging?

Feb 23, 2010

I am sure this is somewhere in the forums but since I don't know any of the buzz words associated with what I am trying to doI haven't had any lucksearching. Here's the deal:I have 1 physical drive. On it, I have a partition for XP, a partition for Karmic and a partition for all my data so I can share between XP and Karmic. When I boot in Karmic, I need to select the data drive (called SHAREDDRIVE) and enter my password before any of my apps can access the data. My question is: Is there a way to automatically connect / log onto the SHAREDDRIVE during bootup so I don't have to remember (this is VERY difficult for me!!!) manually log onto it?

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Does Not Connect Automatically?

Aug 26, 2010

Hi all, a new Linux user and long time Windows user, I have added a dual Boot to my Samsung N220 netbook to dual boot to Windows 7 or Ubuntu Netbook, Very pleased thus far, I had a little trouble getting the wirless network to connect and had to update the drivers via a wired connection.

My issue now is that I have to manually connect to my wirless network each time I use the netbook, I checked the box to automatically connect, but this does not seem to work. If I use the link at the top and select 'Connect to Hidden network' (my SSID is hidden) it will then allow me to select a previous connection and then connects fine, but I thought like Windows it would have connected automatically if a listed network was in range. Any ideas what the problem might be or suggestions to get this working better?
