Ubuntu Networking :: DWL-G122-RevA2 Not Detected
Oct 18, 2010
Installed 10.10 using wubi. My wireless NIC is not detected in ndisgtk (although the driver: PRISMA02.inf is installed). The lights on the DWL-G122 are on normally while operating under Windows XP, but turn off after it's unplugged and plugged back in under Ubuntu.
EDIT: I've attached an image of my wireless NIC so you know what I'm dealing with.

I was wondering where to find the drivers for my D-link adapter. It says on the box that it has Linux support, what does that mean? I have already used it without any drivers and it works for a bit but after a week or something it doesn't work anymore (it is connected to the network but no download). What should I do? Would installing the drivers solve the problem?

I had Xubuntu 9.10 installed on my computer and everything worked fine, i could download and surf the net pretty fast, but all of a sudden i couldn't do this anymore. The adapter was still connected to the network but when i opened firefox it worked for 5 seconds and then it would not load any pages, and even synaptic couldn't download any packages, even though it was still connected to the network. So i tried to reinstall network manager but it didn't work, then something happened and i couldn't access my Xubuntu anymore so I decided to delete the partition and install Xubuntu 10.04. I still have the same problem. What should i do? I am sure it is not a problem with the adapter because it works on the Windows partition.

All four PCs can connect and browse internet but cannot detect each one in the local network. I have edited already the network connections. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 with latest updated kernel,Yestarday I purchased a Netgaer WG111v3 USB Adopter (Here is the Product Page). When I plug this device it instantly detected but can't browse the internet,Blue Led is also lit up &ystem->Administration->NetworkHere is the Screenshot. But this Wi-Fi USB dongle flawlessly work under Windows XP after installing the driver from the CD.In windows it can't be detected automatically but in Ubuntu can.So my question is,what else I need to perform to get the work done?Tried NDIS Wrapper but can't find any .inf file in the driver CD.Installed Wi-fi Radar but it can't did anything better.

I got my hands on an old BorderWare MXtreme MX-200 mail firewall and decided to install Ubuntu 10.04.1 on it and use it as a regular firewall - just for funzies. It's basically just a vanilla P4 PC in a 1U rack casing, so the hardware is not too exotic. After adding some RAM (and hooking up a CD-ROM to be able to boot from CD), Ubuntu installed and works fine, except for the second NIC.The NIC is there, enabled in BIOS and detected by Ubuntu:
Code:
$ lspci

Recently I bought a USB modem SEOWON SWU-3120. According to the manufacturer, Linux is supported, but ubuntu doesn't detect it Both "usb-modemswitch-data" and "usb-modeswitch" packages are installed (I use GSM and CDMA modems without any problem). When I try to add a new broadband network I have only two choices: GSM and CDMA networks. WiMAX doesn't appear. Looks like Ubunto 10.10 "doesn't know" about the existence of the WiMAX technology. I sent some e-mails to the manufacturer but they never answered.
I friend of mine informed me to try the following commands:
sudo lshw -C network
lsusb

I use ubuntu 9.10 and PCI connected Conexant CX11252 Modem. My GNOME PPP doesn't detects my modem. How can I create a connection? Is there any way to detect my modem and connect ? or ubuntu is fit only for broadband? I think most of the activities in ubuntu depends on internet. I can't do any work. I am losing my money in Internet Cafe. Broadband is even not available in my resident area. Therefore. find a solution to connect internet via my dial up modem!

I have freshly installed ubuntu 9.10 and moreover i am completely a newbie to Linux. The problem now i am facing is, i am not able to configure my wireless router. I tried finding drivers for it in System->administration->hardware drivers. But it showed me none. Then i checked out one of the threads in this forum and came across the 'lspci -nn' cmd. This gave me the info abt my wireless network controller and it was : 'Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01)'.

I have been having trouble getting my network card to access networks. I currently am using a wired connection. A while ago when I first installed Linux on this same computer, I got it working by installing the driver. But since I reinstalled Linux, I tried the process again with no success. Can anyone give me explicit instructions on installing the network card driver so I can use it on Linux.

I run ubuntu 9.10. I recently convinced my wife to give it a shot. The problem is, the bluetooth dongle is detected and the icon appears when its plugged in, the mouse is found and says it is pointing in bluetooth manager but it does not move the cursor on the screen. I have tried 2 different dongles and both work correctly and control the mouse on my asus laptop. She is using a toshiba satelite. Both dongles show up in lsusb as hci0. I've tried everything on the forums and everything I could think of but no go. If she doesn't have use of the mouse for farmville I will be in trouble.

I have bought a new laptop with W7 installed. And I installed dual boot with Ubuntu 9.10 on it.I tried to connect my laptop to Internet by Ethernet port. It works with W7, but Ubuntu doesn't detect my Network card .After some research on Internet, I suppose that it's a problem of drivers for this card. Here some parameters I could get :
>ifconfig :
lo Link encap:Boucle locale
inet adr:127.0.0.1 Masque:255.0.0.0

I'm dual-booting Ubuntu 9.10 (upgraded from 9.04) and Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.Ubuntu doesn't recognize any wireless network (both in 9.04 and 9.10); my Windows OS works perfectly well with wireless, as does my wired Internet connection with Ubuntu and Windows.I've had this problem on previous installations of Ubuntu (I've removed and re-installed it several times) but I can't locate the solution anywhere. I've tried numerous fixes that I've found online, but none of them have worked.System>Administration>Hardware Drivers tells me that the Broadcom STA Wireless driver is activated and currently in use

I'm in serious need of some help. The network adapter on the motherboard of my main machine apparently failed about noon today. This machine serves as the firewall and router for my home office LAN, and so it has two network adapters, the second being a PCI card installed in the only PCI slot of the mobo. The mobo's adapter served the WAN while the PCI card serves the LAN.Since the mobo has only one PCI slot, none of the other PCI cards I have on hand could be used. Instead, I pulled an unused PCI-e dialup modem card from the machine, and bought a PCI express gigabit card to put in its place.
The problem is that the machine (running Hardy 8.04.4 LTS) does not recognize the new card at all. Running lspci shows only the old PCI card that serves the LAN. Similarly, running "sudo lshw" shows only the old PCI card together with a virtual adapter that's part of my VirtualBox installation on that system.I then dual-booted into Vista Home and attempted to install the new card there, using the CD that came with it. Vista detected the card and asked for the disk, but then was unable to find any drivers on the disk! The box says the card is from Star Tech, and the instruction sheet says its model is ST1000SPEX.If anyone can point me to the correct module to add to the startup list and/or remove from the blacklist, that may get me going again.

I'm a ubuntu linux 10.04 LTS user with a problem. i have been using a vodafone 3G card in South Africa and it has been working correctly. I have used it since Ubuntu 9 and it was correctly detected all the time, so that's great.
But then I got myself a mifi 2352 device (for those who do not know, it is a device that shares a mobile 3G connection to at most 5 users using wifi. it also works in usb mode, like a normal 3G card when you plug it on computer. You can just google the device for more info.
My problem is when i plug in the device through the usb, Ubuntu does not detect, which is very frustrating. I've tried a lot of things, including installing "vodafone-mobile-connect_2.25.01-1_all" with no success.
Is there any reasobn why the mifi 2352 is not detected by Ubuntu?

a few weeks back I got an Indian Reliance 3g dongle. I installed usb-modeswitch, plugged in and it seemed to work brilliantly in Ubuntu 10.04.The problem was it was dropping the connection every ten minutes. The logs had the error message "Terminating on signal 15".I had to unplug the dongle and then it would connect again.x the problem, I tried installing first Sakis3G and then Betawine, both of which were reported by some users to haved. Sakis said "the device did not report GSM capabilities"d no good.Installing Betawine was apparently a bad idea, as after that the dongle ceased to work with Network Manager and Betawine itself was useless. Uninstalling Betawine and re-installing usb-modeswitch did no good. Now, when I plug in the dongle, the logs say:Quote:
Nov 9 17:52:31 lauri-laptop kernel: [28563.368241] usb 5-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
Nov 9 17:52:31 lauri-laptop kernel: [28563.530547] usb 5-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1

I've just installed a fresh copy of Maverick Meerkat 64bit and I wanted to setup static ip, but unfortunately I can't because of invalid mac address detection during each startup. The message looks like this
Code:
dmesg |grep Mac
[ 5.988576] forcedeth 0000:00:07.0: Invalid Mac address detected: 0b:68:66:ea:0f:00
[ 5.988590] forcedeth 0000:00:07.0: Please complain to your hardware vendor. Switching to a random MAC I remember having the same problem on suse distro and the solution I found at that time, was to change the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and edit it to look like this

I have BCM4113 LP-PHY on my HP ProBook 5230m (14e4:4727) wireless card with b43 driver installed (instructions here). I have firmware installed (/lib/firmware/b43, /lib/firmware/b43legacy), b43 module loaded (listed in lsmod output, dmesg says "Broadcom 43xx driver loaded"), but my wireless card is not detected anyway. The manual says I should see b43 in System > Admin > Additional Drivers, but there is only STA listed there.
