I have a problem installing mi dlink dlw-g122 wireless usb adapter.I installed the drivers, in fact when executing
ndiswrapper -l
the output is
dr71wu driver present, hardware present
but when I try to execute
modprobe ndiswrapper
I have this error:
FATAL : Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.12.9-386/kernel/drivers/net/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko): Operation not permetted
i was given a new DLink DWA-130 REV E draft N usb wireless adapter and was wondering if there are linux drivers for it?

I've copied it to a dvd, and have placed the dvd in my openSUSE machine. I've made several attempts at installing this myself, but Linux has me a bit stumped.
How can I Install DLink wireless driver on Ubuntu ?
I had downloaded the driver . The file contains some files like MakeFile and ifcfg-wlan0 ,etc
+ a tar.gz file . which contains c or c++ source codes.
There are 4 folders also .
I have recently installed Linux Mint 10 on my laptop. When I look at the Device Manager in Windows 7, it says I have an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. Right now, I am unable to connect to wifi with Linux. What drivers am I able to install, and how would I install them?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 9.10, which I just now installed on my Dell Dimension 3000. The computer has all of its USB ports working perfectly; tested in Windows. I plugged in my SMC USB Ez Connect g wireless adapter, and it isn't even recognized by the system. I used lsusb, and nothing except the USB keyboard and mouse shows up. Every time I boot or shut down, I get tons of errors saying that it's "unable to enumerate USB device on Port...," then the port number of whichever port I plug the wireless adapter into. I've tried using ndiswrapper, and have completely installed the Windows drivers using that (which were the same ones that worked perfectly in Windows XP Pro). I've tried looking into compat-wireless and Linux Wireless, and have successfully installed the zd1211rw drivers and everything. The drivers install completely and work, there is just no hardware present, or so it says. This is what the terminal says when I type dmesg, and also part of what shows up on booting and shutdown:

I hope I've given enough information. Oh, and I downloaded Ubuntu a few days ago from their website, burned to a CD-R, installed, and downloaded all updates that it asked me to. Other than that and the ndiswrapper and driver installation, I've done nothing on the system.

am running Ubuntu 10.04 ... only because for some reason that is the only version that will load onto my IBM pentium 4 desktop! I installed ndisgtk, ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 by using the Synaptic Package Manager GUI. Using Windows Wireless Drivers GUI, I installed the driver rt 2870 off the Belkin CD that came with the product. Status is "Hardware present: Yes"

It seems I have ndiswrapper working (I think!) ... but i still can't connect my wireless.
I have a old mac G4 and I just recently installed ubuntu 10.10 on it. It doesn't recognize my wireless adapter at all so I get no wireless on the computer. I've never used any linux distribution in my life so I don't have any idea how to install drivers for it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop and I just installed ubuntu 10.04 as a dual boot with windows 7. My desktop has a wireless ZEW1642S card. I don't have access to a wired internet connection, but I can use the wireless on my windows 7 fine. It seems like there is no driver for it to work on ubuntu, and since I don't have an internet connection while in ubuntu, it seems I can't update it of course because I need internet to update. My wireless network does NOT have a password if that even means anything for this. I have the exe installer for the driver for it but I don't know how I'm supposed to get the INF file or whatever.

But it was lost.Now I am trying different distro images to get back to what I had. But none has the Network mgr with wireless in it.I don't have any other Linux/UNIX machine here at home. I recently reformatted and dual partitioned to both Windows 7 as well as ubuntu 10.10. Loading works fine and Windows 7 is 100% operational. I cannot seem to get my wireless network adapter to be read by Ubuntus 'Windows Wireless Drivers' gui. Here are the steps that I have done THUS far, to make sure that we are all on the right path. Before I go any further, my wireless network adapter is an old school WUSB11 Linksys Wireless Network Adapter (running version 2.6).
1) Downloaded and installed "ndiswrapper" from ubuntu's main website. I downloaded the common, utils and ndisgtk files and installed them accordingly.
2) I extracted these three files to the desktop of Ubuntu and accessed the terminal page.
3) From terminal I typed "cd Desktop" to change the directory to the desktop.
4) Next, I typed in "Sudo dpkg -i ndiswrapper-common_1.54-2ubuntu1_all.deb
Sudo dpkg -i ndiswrapper-utils-1.9_1.54-2ubuntu1_i386.deb
Sudo dpkg -i ndisgtk_0.8.5-1_i386.deb"
5) This installed Windows Wireless Drivers gui successfully and I can access it.
6) I have downloaded the driver files for the adapter from the cisco website and searched them for the required files needed.
7) After extracting the .INF file from the "Drivers" directory named "NETUSB.SYS" (I wasn't sure if the other associated files within the same folder needed to be present together with NETUSB so I moved everything to the desktop) I typed in "sudo ndiswrapper -i NETUSB.inf". After accessing the Windows Wireless Drivers gui I have noticed that the 'netusb' driver is present yet under it, the system states "Hardware present: No". This leads me to believe that maybe I installed incorrectly or my "fireware?" is not present? I was reading through the installation guide posted on the ubuntu website that in addition to the .INF file we also need the BIN file(s)? and SYS file(s)?.. The folder with the drivers for my adapter contains a BIN file but it is not within the "Drivers" section of the folder.
9) Upon mousing over the network Icon naturally my hardware is still not present.
10) From what I gather after the system finds the hardware I am to write into the terminal

I have just performed the first clean install since new. Installed a new Hard Drive as well. The machine and wifi was fine under Ubuntu 9.04.
