Mar 9, 2011

I have an emachines D620 laptop running Ubuntu 10.10 with a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01). I havent done anything with it and cant seem to get it to work. I know this because when I had visto on it the card worked, but know it says that its firmware is not enabled and ive tried installing the drivers using the Additional Drivers under Administration. I would like it to be working so I can use my laptop's internet.

Ubuntu Networking :: Intel Broadcom - Bcmwl6 - Wifi Driver Unfunctional

Mar 3, 2011

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx Entertainment Notebook with Broadcom Wireless Lan Driver.

I didn't want to bother anyone with this, but I just could't find a solution. I was happy using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition, because the wifi was working fine, but I messed everything up dealing with networking in terminal.

So formated and now I have Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition, but that didn't solved my problem at all, because my wifi driver still unfunctional.

Before anything, I tried commands like "dbus restart" and "network restart".

So after reading that I can install by getting ndisgtk and the .inf file, I downloaded the right driver from HP Support's page of my notebook. Extracted the package with Wine (got some error because I wasn't running Win7, of course, but that doesn't matter.).

I did this: [url]

And this is my final result:[url]

Ubuntu Networking :: Broadcom 4727 Wireless Card Cannot Connect To WiFi?

Jun 16, 2011

I just installed 9.10 and I can't detect any wireless networks. Is the card compatible with 9.10? Do I need to install any drivers? If the card isn't compatible with 9.10 is it compatible with later versions of Ubuntu? Marking this as somewhat urgent as I need to get internet access for some coursework soon, and also because my parents will kill me if they find out I've done anything unusual with the laptop because it's new and they think anything non -MS is a virus.

Ubuntu Networking :: Broadcom Network Card - WiFi Light Stays On All The Time ?

Dec 13, 2010

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 online today. I was using 10.04 32-bit before, and the network drivers were easy to find and install. Ubuntu did the job for me and they worked flawlessly. It was a relief I didn't need to search around.

Even though 10.10 (64bit) found the drivers for me, both ethernet and wireless, they do not seem to be working alright. I installed both, made a restart. I found that the WiFi light on my laptop stays on, even if the wireless network is turned off using either the key combination (Fn+F2), or manually turning it off.

Issues with the ethernet? I am right now using ethernet but it does not care to detect the connection. Empathy won't connect automatically as a result- says no network connection. But here I am, posting this. Evidently, there is a connection, right?

Issues with the wireless? The WiFi light stays on all the time, and it isn't able to get hang of the connection I have at home. It just won't show any wireless connections available. When I tried to connect by giving it the SSID and the encryption type and password, it didn't work. Just kept asking for the password again and again (I have checked with the router- the password is correct).

Ubuntu Networking :: Wifi Card Rtl8172 Not Working When Laptop On Battery?

Feb 24, 2010

I am using a Fujitsu Amilo pi3560 with a Realtek rtl8172 wireless card, and running the latest driver (rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0014.0115.2010). The OS is Ubuntu 9.10.
Everything runs perfectly - when my laptop is connected with the power cord. But when I go battery the wireless disconnects after a few minutes. It then asks for the wpa password, searches for the router, asks again, and so on indefinitely, until I reboot and it all replays once more.

Ubuntu Networking :: HP G62x Laptop - Ralink 5390 Wifi Card Does Not Work?

Apr 29, 2011

I recently bought a HP g62x laptop for myself. It sports a decent Core i3 processor, 4 gigs of RAM and a 500GB HDD. It also came with Wireless-N, a real bonus because I am using a Wireless-N router. The chipset is a Ralink 5390. It came preinstalled with Windows 7, and everything works fine in there (obviously).

I then proceeded to install Ubuntu 10.10 x64 a few days ago (this is before Natty came out) and everything worked . . . except WLAN. So I plugged in via Ethernet and went looking and found that I clearly wasn't the first to discover this issue. I found a guide here that I followed to download the Ralink Linux driver (which is stated to support my chipset), configure, compile, and install. Everything went perfectly, I restarted; lo and behold, I have a list of access points. I went to connect to mine, entered the password, and now the animated "WiFi wave" logo keeps going indefinitely until you click it, and it freezes for a few minutes. It will unfreeze if you let it sit but clicking it causes the same freeze again.

I couldn't really care less about a WiFi icon freezing, but a.) it freezes everything else in the system up, not just the icon, and b.) it never actually completes the WiFi connection. I really, really don't want to be forced to use Windows because of a crappy WiFi driver!

Since Natty came out I installed that and I can't even compile the driver without fatal errors, so I reverted to 10.10 and everything is the same as it was before. Note that this is a clean Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition 64-bit install, nothing updated/modified/changed besides (attempting) to install this driver.

Ubuntu :: Broadcom Wifi Card In 10.04?

Jul 13, 2010

I'm sure you've seen this question before -- I tried searching but I can't find a clear answer. All I need is to get my wifi up and running in Ubuntu 10.04. I'm currently double-booted with XP on a Dell Latitude E5400 laptop. I'm in Windows right now. I can't post my lpsci readout because I can't access the internet from Ubuntu -- no access to wired connection.

I worked on this problem for a long time last night and fixed it somehow by installing a driver program -- it had "cutter" in the name. Today, however, I try to log in and Ubuntu won't connect to an open wifi point. Boot #1 it recognized it but wouldn't connect. Boot #2 it wouldn't recognize it at all (said "wireless is disabled" even though it wasn't. Boot #3 it would recognize the wifi point but wouldn't connect.) I can mantain a constant connection to this wifi in Windows XP and also on my Android phone.

I just want someone to please tell me how to get my wifi working reliably. I'm excited to switch over to Ubuntu, all I need is for the wifi to work. My wifi card is a Broadcom 43xx (4312?). Something like that.

To enable the wireless connection, I have to press Fn + F6. If I do it now, the wireless led indicator turns on for a couple of seconds, then turns off again. Hardware :: Getting Mint 10 Julia GNOME To Recognize Broadcom WiFi Card

Nov 29, 2010

Here are the specs for the computer in question:

Distro: Mint 10 Julia Gnome
Dell Inspiron 1100
2.40 ghz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobytes primary memory cache
512 kilobytes secondary memory cache
20 GB HDD
1 Gig MB RAM (2 512mb sticks)
Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G V3
CDRW/DVD Optical Drive

From the title of this post, you can see that I am having some trouble getting the Linksys Wireless-G broadcom card working. I have been doing some research and have heard that getting a broadcom card to work in Linux can be a real pain.

I have verified that Mint 10 recognized PCMCIA so I am good there. I installed Wifi-Radar to see if maybe it would recognize it but it did not.

When I type iwconfig, it does not show any wireless signals available. When I originally set up the partitions for this laptop, I used PartedMagic and was able to quickly set up the network on that with vertually no problem what so ever.

It's a broadcom 4328 a/b/g/n/bluetooth card and it was using the broadcom-wl driver. Earlier today i plugged in an usb wifi adapter to test whether it worked on suse plug and play. Well after plugging in and using this wireless adapter, my internal wifi card is no longer visible to the system. I've tried lspci and its not displayed. I booted into a different suse install and it wont work there. My bios does not seem to have a disable feature and the killswitch is in the correct position. The bluetooth is working but the wifi is not. In lspci i used to see "hp integrated (wireless+bluetooth)" and "broadcom 4328..." but now only the former.

Debian Hardware :: WiFi Card Not Recognized (Laptop HP 430 G2)

Sep 12, 2014

I'm a brand new user of Debian, and I just bought a (too much?) new laptop, the HP 430 G2. It seems to work great for almost everything, except that I don't have any wifi available.

I tried so many different things (without any success) that it would be hard to resume. But for now, all I have is a new installation (to avoid parasite installations of weird things), and a kernel updated to 3.16. I don't know if it's useful though...

Some information from my system :

Code: Select allbonyhoax@bonybook:~$ sudo ifconfig
[sudo] password for bonyhoax:
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 14:58:d0:09:72:bd
          inet adr:130.125.57.144  Bcast:130.125.57.255  Masque:255.255.255.0
          adr inet6: fe80::1658:d0ff:fe09:72bd/64 Scope:Lien
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:27329 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:3491 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

[Code] ....

The first element I notice is that I don't have the line with "Kernel driver in use...". Which seems to indicate that there's a problem with the kernel module (is that right?). But I don't know how to fix it...

The other thing that puzzles me with these last two commands is that according to this page, my wifi card is a Broadcom BCM43142. But it's not the result I get with the lspci command.

Anyway, I'm really lost, I don't know what to do, what to check, what to install. I don't want to go by random, testing all the different solutions I see on the web blindely. This is the reason why I ask it here.
