Jan 12, 2010I just got my new ubuntu 9.10 os desktop version installed into my lenovo laptop but then my WiFi is not working. Previously I had a broadcom driver which currently is not functioning with the ubuntu 9.10.

Mar 9, 2011I have an emachines D620 laptop running Ubuntu 10.10 with a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01). I havent done anything with it and cant seem to get it to work. I know this because when I had visto on it the card worked, but know it says that its firmware is not enabled and ive tried installing the drivers using the Additional Drivers under Administration. I would like it to be working so I can use my laptop's internet.

Mar 3, 2011I have a HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx Entertainment Notebook with Broadcom Wireless Lan Driver.
I didn't want to bother anyone with this, but I just could't find a solution. I was happy using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition, because the wifi was working fine, but I messed everything up dealing with networking in terminal.
So formated and now I have Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition, but that didn't solved my problem at all, because my wifi driver still unfunctional.
Before anything, I tried commands like "dbus restart" and "network restart".
So after reading that I can install by getting ndisgtk and the .inf file, I downloaded the right driver from HP Support's page of my notebook. Extracted the package with Wine (got some error because I wasn't running Win7, of course, but that doesn't matter.).

Oct 29, 2014I am having a problem with the driver, I do lspci | grep -i net and this is my driver: Broadcom Corporation BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n...I have tried this: URL.. (I have debian squeeze) and it created a eth1 interface.I do ip link set eth1 up and after that I do : iwlist scan and it works, but when for example I try iw dev eth1 scan it doesn't work it says nl80211 not found.And when I try to run hostapd (which is my final goal) it also says nl80211 not found.

Dec 24, 2010ok basically i have a new dell inspiron n5010 with a broadcom 4313 wifi card. it doesnt work with ubuntu studio 10.10. I have the drivers all installed and it works on ethernet with the broadcom STA proprietry driver. if i disable this driver the eth doesnt work. but the driver shows its working (screenshot-1).
There is no pop up or anything in the task bar for detected wifi. i open the network settings and it shows up with a wifi option but i have to go into properties and manually type in what i have "the_den_meribel". which didn't work. (screenshot-2).
i have tried the other driver broadcom-sta-common and that doesnt make it work either. screenshot-3. i did try to install the "lp-pphhy" or whatever it is (seacrh for firmware-b43 in synaptic).

Jun 14, 2011I just installed the 64-bit Kubuntu 11.04 and i've been having some issues getting the wifi to work. At first I went to additional drivers and activated the STA driver and restarted. After restarting when I went into the network manager and any option for wireless was disabled.

Ubuntu Networking :: Neither Broadcom B43 Nor STA Driver Is Working?
Jan 23, 2010I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
I used the System -> Administration -> Hardware Driver and found 2 drivers. I have tried them both to connect to my D-Link Router. Neither of which worked.
For Broadcom B43 Driver, the wireless is able to detect wireless networks. However, it fails to establish connection.
For Broadcom STA Driver, the wireless cannot even detect wireless networks available.
What is the issue here and how do I resolve it so that I am able to connect onto the internet wirelessly?

Oct 2, 2010I applied the latest updates today and when I rebooted, My wireless broadcom driver is not working and the ifconfig does not list it either anymore, was working 8 min ago but is now dead. If I turn off the wireless with a switch and back on, I get a blue light but it remains disabled and greyed out on the network icon. Ubuntu 10.04, latest updates applied daily. I removed the driver and reinstalled it, it did not help at all. Also, my Truecryt gdecrypt stopped working.
Update: it seems the wireless switch on the front of the laptop is now working backwards, in checking the daemon log I found Turning off the wifi so the light goes out:

Update, I found that if I boot the laptop up with the networking switch off, then, after I'm booted up, turn it on, it works. However if I reboot the laptop with the network switch in the on position I get the above issue with the switch being inverted and not working properly.
OpenSUSE Network :: Broadcom BCM57788 Driver Not Working?
Aug 31, 2010I have bought a new Dell Studio XPS Desktop with Broadcom BCM57788 network card. The installation of the tg3 driver from Dell was done according to Documentation
But still, the network card is not there. When I call ifconfig, there is only "lo" and no "eth". In Yast it says that the Netlink BCM57788 card cannot be configured because the firmware is missing. I also already did modprobe tg3 and rmmod tg3.
BTW, I have installed OpenSuse 11.2 x32 which is Linux 2.6.31.5.

Currently I'm running Ubuntu 10.10, Kernel 2.5.35-29-generic. I have a Broadcom 4318 for my WLAN and a Broadcom 4401-B0 for my ethernet. I followed the tutorial and I managed to get packet injection working on my WLAN; however, my ethernet connection isn't working. I tried sudo modeprobe b44, but I get the following message:

Jul 13, 2010I'm sure you've seen this question before -- I tried searching but I can't find a clear answer. All I need is to get my wifi up and running in Ubuntu 10.04. I'm currently double-booted with XP on a Dell Latitude E5400 laptop. I'm in Windows right now. I can't post my lpsci readout because I can't access the internet from Ubuntu -- no access to wired connection.
I worked on this problem for a long time last night and fixed it somehow by installing a driver program -- it had "cutter" in the name. Today, however, I try to log in and Ubuntu won't connect to an open wifi point. Boot #1 it recognized it but wouldn't connect. Boot #2 it wouldn't recognize it at all (said "wireless is disabled" even though it wasn't. Boot #3 it would recognize the wifi point but wouldn't connect.) I can mantain a constant connection to this wifi in Windows XP and also on my Android phone.
I just want someone to please tell me how to get my wifi working reliably. I'm excited to switch over to Ubuntu, all I need is for the wifi to work. My wifi card is a Broadcom 43xx (4312?). Something like that.

Mar 8, 2011Been all over the net looking for some helpful solution to geting the wifi connection working.tried several and no go...ethernet connection is fine. does anyone have a sure fire way to get this running...quite a noob with ubuntu and have managed to find the "additional drivers" with both the B43 and the STA and tried to activate them but didnt help.was into "synapticP manager" and did the search for the B43-fwcutter etc and that didnt help...was into the "terminal" with a command to download updated drivers etc...cant recall the command right now..but that didnt work.when i go into the network connections... for wired I have "auto etho" and under wireless there is nothing. Marking this as somewhat urgent as I need to get internet access for some coursework soon, and also because my parents will kill me if they find out I've done anything unusual with the laptop because it's new and they think anything non -MS is a virus.
