View 2 RepliesUsing Oracle VM to run XP so I can watch Netflix. However, the VM doesn't go completely fullscreen, unfortunately. So this just doesn't cut it for watching movies.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got off the phone with Netflix support. Apparently they really want everyone to CALL to request Linux support. You don't have to be a current subscriber (though in fairness you should probably at least be open to subscribing). Archaic if you ask me, but I guess that's how they gauge interest. So, if you're interested, give Netflix a ring and say that you want Netflix on Linux. It might help to mention that Amazon's recently released "Prime" video service DOES support Linux already. They have some competition now!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed Boxee on my freshly built Mythbuntu machine. Being my first experience with an HTPC media center, I am impressed.
That being said, I began to link Netflix, MLB, and other accounts. I was looking for the ability to add a Netflix app, but have yet to find it. I attempted to use the Boxee browser to navigate to Netflix, which I did, but the mouse cursor would not select anything.
My girlfriend just got the new dell inspirion mini with ubuntu on it, and when she tries to stream videos on her laptop it wont let her it says she needs either a windows comp. or a macintosh, is there any way i can get her computer to stream these videos off netflix?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a HP DC 6000 small form factor which has not taken the GUI after installing the debian lenny version 5.07 on it. I have tried installing 5.01-5.07. None of the Debian series do have the supported driver for the on board graphics card for HP box it seems. I can take the terminal and can see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file which does not have much alterations form the default one which can make the driver been taken by it. Could some body help with the hp driver for Debian for the respective graphics card or could some body me with the content of xorg.xonf file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've seen several threads in Ubuntu regarding implementing vaapi/xvba enabled media players for ATI GPU rendering. Does anyone know of any precompiled rpms for 11.3 (or tips for building on opensuse). I've installed Hellgasts xvba-video-amd rpms from the build service. I wasn't able to successfully build my own mplayer-vaapi from Index of /~gbeauchesne/mplayer-vaapi.

I was thinking about installing ubuntu. Now I know that boxee software can install into ubuntu, and that boxee has a netflix app ,so yeah the question is will I be able to stream netflix through ubuntu/boxee?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI put vbox on my wife's Dell Inspiron 6000 to play Netflix but the video won't play. After buffering it says there's an "internet connection problem". From what I've read that means the connection is too slow. Netflix works fine on my wired desktop (also Lucid+vbox) and on the same laptop booting into Windows (not VM). So I'm thinking there's a problem with vbox slowing the connection between the laptop's wireless and the VM?
I don't know if it will help with Netflix but 2D video acceleration is grayed out on vbox. Strangely, the 3D acceleration is fine and I can select it. If this is due to an unsupported video driver, can I change it?
I know how long people have been trying to make this work forever, but I feel I'm a bit close after playing with it for a while. This solution uses Wine, FirefoxPortable (so it's self contained and not relying on registered dll's a lot) and using instructions found at the following link for getting silverlight installed into the portable app: [URL]..
I think it's REALLY close to working. I can open netflix, and hit the play button, at what point it goes through a "please wait while this installs" then finishes, giving me a screen with the netflix streaming controls, and sits at a screen saying "Thanks for installing, once installation is complete please restart your browser to watch this movie." If I restart the browser, it does it again. I think it might be more of a firefox configuration, something to tell it that silverlight is there instead of trying to re-install it. It's registering as an installed plugin but silverlight test sites work albeit very slowly and with mixed results. I'm not having any more luck, but it seemed like a method with promise i haven't seen tried before. Here's a whole package with my experiment, all set [URL]...
New Ubuntu dummy here. Can anyone tell me how to get Netflix to work in Firefox on my newly installed Ubuntu operating system?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to use the Netflix watch instantly option on Linux? If so how?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt doesn't appear there is going to be any resolution to the Netflix streaming issue anytime soon.
Does anyone know of anything else out there besides Hulu that offers a service like that which IS Linux-compatible.
It's really nice to be able to stream a movie on your laptop sometimes. Are there any alternatives out there to Netflix streaming for us?
So I want to be able to stream netflix on ubuntu 10.04, but netflix requires M$ silverlight. I am trying to get moonlight to work but it still tells me I don't have the right software for this. I have installed moonlight 3.0, not sure if I got all the plug in for it though.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running 10.04 on an old computer. I can watch netflix videos, but there is no sound. I tested the speakers on another computer and they work. That leaves either the sound card, or something about 10.04. How do I debug this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem started happening a few days ago. Only my linux computers are affected. Yup, that's right. My roommates running windows have zero problems.
What's the problem? Suddenly, I cannot access 2 websites: namely facebook and netflix. I just get a "waiting for facebook.com" status from my browser, and it waits there patiently until the browser finally gives up. I haven't found any other sites that give me this issue. Gmail, ....., flickr, etc all work fine.
This happens using both firefox and chrome browsers. I've tried using Ubuntu 10.10 (on my desktop) and Peppermint (distro based on ubuntu, runs on my laptop). Both machines access the internet via wifi. Both have the same problem! o_O
Both machines are up-to-date. I've rebooted many times. I've tried booting an old kernel. I haven't installed any new software lately. I've tried disabling all plugins for the browsers. I've tried power-cycling our internet modem. I've tried changing my DNS settings to use Google's Public DNS service. Nothing helps.
Actually, one small piece of information: If I put my browser in incognito mode, I can get to the "sign-in" page for both facebook and netflix. But upon putting in my credentials, I still cannot reach my custom user home page for either site.
Did ubuntu removed files for 9.4 repository from there server coause when I do Quote: sudo apt-get update I get following warnings

Each time after boot up from hibernation I see notification that "Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode". I tried to solve the problem as usual but this time I can not resolve it.I haven't expected this problem on new boot or restart. I suppose that the problem is in incorrect video driver or something else.Could you please share your experience how to resolve my problem? How can I upgrade video driver for GMA 3150 supporting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a .swf file that I was going to play, but when I try to open it, totem (which apparently is my .swf program) says "GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error." Now since I know a little bit about linux, I opened up a terminal and redirected the stderr and stdout to a file called "error". Then I read the file and it said:
** Message: Error: GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error.
gstffmpegdemux.c(1243): gst_ffmpegdemux_open (): /GstPlayBin2lay/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin20/ffdemux_swf:ffdemux_swf0:
Input/output error
So then I interpreted that as meaning that there was a library called "gstffmpegdemux.c" that needed replacing. So I tried using synaptic to replace. Then Synaptic wouldn't let me get the package, Though I could see it existed (I would put up a screenshot, but for some reason it won't let me upload) then I tried aptitude, which claims it doesn't exist, and then apt-get which also claims that it doesn't exist.
So I just wanted to see if there is any way to get Netflix or Zune Market Place to work with Ubuntu without dual booting with a Microsoft OS?

I have a 802.11a-WLAN running. Due to regulatory restrictions, I am to do some dynamic frequency selection(DFS) on certain channels available in the 802.11a-band. This is called 802.11h. I am seraching for a solution reagarding 802.11h-functionality. I do know, there is a branch within madwifi called madwifi-dfs which was developed mainly by Bennoit Papillaut and Pavel Roskin.
The problem with this driver is, that it doesn't work reliable. If I simply start a network scan on my Lenovo-machine, the DFS-driver running on the embedded board recognizes a radar signal and switches the channel dirctly. So my question is - is there any driver available supporting 802.11h? I do not care about the chipset manufacturer or anything else. All I need is a working DFS-capable driver.
