Ubuntu Multimedia :: Cannot Run The Iriverter Program
Jun 5, 2010
I installed "iriverter" and would like to use it to convert some video files. I like it because it uses mencoder. The problem is, after it installs it will not open. Here is the output running it from a terminal:
Code:
iriverter
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/events/SelectionListener
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
ireverter will not launch due to a java problem: "Could not find the main class: org.thestaticvoid.iriverter.ConverterUI"
In the past a solution was to add: "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib/jni" before the java line in the script. This does not correct my problem.
Loaded iriverter through automatic Ubuntu Software Centre, it is listed under Applications Sound and Video but it will not activate or load when I click on it. The site saids that adobe is required but I have adobe loaded.
I'm converting my parents to ubuntu, so they stop complaining about how slow there windows installation is. I've only come to one problem now. my mom is in love with this Microsoft Picture It program, where she can fix red eyes, chance colors, contrast, tints, ect. Is there a program I can get for ubuntu thats very simple like Picture it? she is extremely computer illiterate, so the easier the better.
I travel a lot and I want to convert all my DVD's to avi format so that I can play them through my media player. K3b has an option for ripping DVD, but it doesn't seem to do anything!
I have some 10hrs videos with around 6GB in size. Unfortunately avidemux2_cli runs into problems copying certain parts of it into an output file (frames get blur).
So I tried ffmpeg, but even if I use the sameq switch (same quality as source video), the output video is not a 1:1 copy of the source video. In fact the output video is encoded again (and sound is not as in the source video) and that takes ages against a copy activity by avidemux. Is there any other cli program for simply copying parts out of videos?
I have downloaded all the filesand tried to do a "cmake" but it didnt work and i cant access the program.I do have zynaddsubfx but they sound different. Are they?
There is a new website running tv program It work just great a quickly on Windows but for some reason it is not working on My Ubuntu / firefox. Can any one confirm if it is working on your box or why it is not working and what can I do to get it to work? [URL] I do not like to use the windows so I sure would like to get this working
I haven't put this in the forums for any of the separate programs, because im having the same problem in all of them, im thinking maybe its a problem elsewhere?I recently got a Canon DSLR. It can save in Raw format, I use this function. Canons Raw format is "Whatever.CR2"F spot viewer and all editor programs see then and 'preview' them with no problem. The images appear to have no problem until you load them into GIMP (with UFRAW) UFRAW standalone, RAWStudio etc.
They load, but only as a small vertical rectangle. Often very purple in colour.I thought maybe it was something wrong with just the way it looked, so I just loaded one, went save as (a jpeg) and then loaded it up, it loaded as a small picture of the same purple-haze bar.Have I done something wrong? I googled it, downloaded UFRaw, even Ubuntu studio, same problem before and after studio installation. All these programs claim to read raw images.Just as an example, In RawStudio:I load up the folder of raw images. I can see all the images clearly with no problems in the preview slider up top. I can scroll through them and see them all no problem. When I click on one, it loads in the editing box as some weird bar (always vertical in orientation) often faintly resembling part of the photo but with seriously acid trip colours. Eg massive purple hazes, green everything etc.
I need a simple program that I can talk into a microphone and the sound will come out the speakers. I want to use my Computer that's hooked up to the store speakers as a PA System.
I am having a difficult time finding a program that will let me do this without having to record and playback. Any help would be wonderful.
I recorded many useful lectures this year. They are now on my HDD an with their 196Kb/s mp3 compression they take almost 30Gigs of space.good GUI Ubuntu 10.4 program for ripping them to smallest size possible (I don't care about quality - they are voice recordings) 8 Kb/s would be nice. But all programs I have tested since offer me only higher qualities.
I have just installed mythbuntu and my drivers for the tv card are in a compressed .rar folder. I have installed rar and unrar from the synaptic repository. Still when I click on it, it has no program associated with rar files. When I search the drop down menu for applications I can't find it there either. What can I do?
How can I make a script file a runnable thread auto-start program. the script is: executable permission I add: #! bin/sh -e at the first of the code I add /home/sok/Scripts/check.sh at the end of /etc/rc.local before exit 0 I add /home/sok/Scripts/check.sh in Autostart as program. I restart the system. no effect.
Anyone here have a good solution for individually controlling sound output without relying on that individual programs audio settings? For example:I am writing a paper while listening to some nice creative commons jamendo music, and I have to look something up online - I don't want to hear random audio/video advertisements.
or I get a VoIP call and I want that program to continue with sound, but want to mute my 8bit sequencer and whatever else.
My terminal program comes up as a white screen (see Screen shot picture)and so does the login screen (Like when you run updates and it asks you to log in so you can update, YES that screen) I have searched and found nothing on this
I have a Dell Optiplex GX115 Dell LED flat screen 49T monitor Ubuntu 9.10 512mb ram 80gb hard drive
I used to be able to say that miro is the best internet tv viewer i've ever used, hands down. But, ever since my upgrade to karmic, and then lucid, the videos i try to watch on miro lag a LOT.
So, is there anything out there that would make a good replacement? Or, better yet, is there a way that i can fix miro?
I used dvgrab to pull the video off of my Cannon HV30 HDV camcorder. Now I have a bunch of 5 minute clips at about a gig each. I need to edit these together and use a better file type. What should I convert to, and what program should I use for encoding and editing?

I was running 9.04 and could, through some magical sequence of toggling options that I was unable to figure out, occasionally get recording from the mic to work in audacity. Ardour worked more reliably, but is kind of over-featured. Audacity is simpler and I know how to get things done. For a while, I was doing basic recording in Ardour, saving it to wav then editing in audacity.
Well, I noticed a howto on getting audacity working in 9.10... so I upgraded ("what could possibly go wrong?"). I still can't record audio in audacity and ardour is now ALSO unable to record audio. They start recording samples but nothing comes in but silence. I've got audacity set to ALSA/default/default and when I click monitor, the stream appears in the pavucontrol app. I've moved it to the input device and that doesn't seem to affect the results at all. Everything looks like it should be working fine except there's some invisible mute button, or something. Under alsamixer's Capture section, Mic has a red "CAPTUR" with no bar to adjust.
Yes I know there was so many themes created about broadcasting shoutcast radio, but I wasn't got information where program work good. I have tried IDJC, but not work. I need the program that I just install it and works. Program should have 2 audio players (1 is good too) and microphone "player" for talking (key OFF/ON).
