Server :: Accept Mails To Unknown Users And Route Specific User
Jul 31, 2009
I need to instruct sendmail to accept mails that are destined to users that are not available on my server and then forward those emails to catchall@mydomain.tld.Please remember that i don't want to forward every single mail to catchall user. I just want to forward those emails which would be destined for users that do not exist on my server.i have used define(`LUSER_RELAY', `local:catchall@d.com')but it doesn't seems to work.

I have a Linux server that has local mail service. There are few user accounts on this server. User may send the mail to each other but that only restrict to LAN environment only.
For example, I may
# mail user1
To send mail to user1. User are not able to send mail to public. Some service like hylafax using this local mail service to send notification of fax status.
I don't want to manage and maintain local mail service anymore. I have subscribed a package from ISP to host a public domain of my own. I wish to have my hylafax service to able to send the notification mails to public mail server, is that possible to do it? It is great if all mails that send to local mail server may forward to public mail server. That makes the local mail service serve mail forward only.

So, I have mail server ( posfix ) and ldap server, they works fine. I can add/delete users from posfix, and they can send / receive mails to/from any address. At same time my ldap server works fine, I have also users in it, my "simple" question would be...if I have user "test1" in ldap, what I have to do to connect--enable that user to send mails ?

I'm having a problem whereby I'm able to send mail to a mailbox from several different email addresses and SMTP servers (gmail, RoadRunner broadband), but I'm unable to send mail to the same address from one particular account, the SMTP server for which runs on a mediaTemple (dv) 3.0 box with CentOS 5 Final.I've spent a full workday on the forums, trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm running out of ideas.The server on which I'm having the mail processing problem is a mediaTemple (ve) running Ubuntu 10.04 x64 (Linux 2.6.18-028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 13:53:00 MSD 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux), with ISPConfig 3. Here's how I setup the mail-related aspects of the Ubuntu box:
Code:
apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server openssl getmail4 rkhunter binutils dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

I've been reading for a while about samba but I haven't found a solution to my problem yet.I'd like to know if, the configuration I have in mind, is possible at all ("security = user" is what I'm using now).I want a directory to be:
1) read only for guests and some UNIX users;
2) write for some other UNIX users.
The advantage of this configuration would be that every single user in my LAN (with or without a UNIX account) would be able to read the content of the shared directory Music and I (UNIX user andrea) could manage the folder directly trough samba preserving the correct owner/group and permissions on the new files/folder created.
Notes about my configuration above:
1) as it is now every user gets authenticated by samba as nobody so even I (andrea) cannot write in it;
2) commenting out the line "guest ok = yes" I can authenticate as "andrea" and write in it but guest access is not possible any longer.

I have this strange error - I switched from postfix 2.6.5 to 2.8.2 and I some mailservers cannot send mail to me. One of them was some sendmail server. I have virtual alias maps in mysql. It works fine for almost all server that are sending mail to me, but some of them seems to send mails as user@FQDN instead of user@virtualdomain my machine name is x49.tvujweb.cz, and mz email is kamil.horky@servis-it.net but in server logs is that user kamil.horky@x49.tvujweb.cz cannot be found in virtual alias maps.
here is my postconf:
Code:
2bounce_notice_recipient = postmaster
access_map_defer_code = 450
access_map_reject_code = 554
address_verify_cache_cleanup_interval = 12h

I have an Asterisk-server with 2 interfaces, a WAN-interface (eth1) and a LAN-interface (eth0).
SETUP : IAX-provider(internet) --> firewall --> Asterisk-server --> switch --> clients_on_LAN
So everything coming from the IAX-provider on port 4569 is forwarded to the Asterisk-server's WAN-interface (eth1). This needs then be routed to an internal SIP-phone (an IVR-system will define which one) via eth0. When a call is initiated from an internal SIP-phone (they register to the IP-address assigned to eth0) it needs to be routed via eth1 to the gateway (192.168.4.250). Asterisk will setup an IAX-channel on WAN-interface (eth1) to the IAX-provider (via gateway). So... will this work :
Code:
route add -net ip_IAXprovider netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.4.250 dev eth1
Code:
route add -net 192.168.4.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev eth0 (no gateway needed for the LAN-interface, communications to the gateway need to go via the WAN-interface !)

I have to route some packages over the right interface.I default route everything for the target-network over one network-interface. That works perfectly. But i have to route packages for one specific host and one specific port over another network-interface. I tried many things with the route-command, but i think there's no possibility to route only one port? May i can do this with iptables? I only found ways to forward some packages, which are coming in over one interface. But in my case all packages go out over one interface.

I've got a few systems which forward ports to one another all over the place, and somewhere along the line a port forward fails. I want to trace the route of a connection on a specific port to see where the connection hits a wall, to see what system is causing the problem. I've tried `tracetoure -T -p <port>` but it doesn't output anything about the ports it hits, stops when it hits the address I supplied even though it is forwarded elsewhere, and there doesn't seem to be a verbose mode. interstingly, if I specify a different source port via the '-s' option, the trace keeps hopping to * * * * and never get anywhere (at least to 27 hops then I CTRL+C)

start working with SA+Amavis+clamd+postfix+dovecot.will be my filter:spamassassin+amavisd-new+clamd. 1 Server will be my mail server: postfix+dovecot. Like u see, the emails from the outside reach first the filter, latter the mailbox. Now, I have seen in my log files, that if I receive a email to a "unknown user", the filter doesn't detect this and process the email and send it to the mail server. Exist a way to setup the filter to first check if the user exist and them apply all hard work and latter send the email to the mail server

there is a qmail server running in the office. we are using 2 Mb/s dedicated connection with web server along with the ajax based
mail server. we are hearing complains from various users inspite of the fact that the mail server is working fine about MUA's(mail user agents) taking too much time to download the mail.Nowadays there are attachments in most of the mails. the mails in Mb/s mostly take time to download. Now I and my coworkers are thinking of enhancing the bandwidth, but one piece of advice i would like to take from the people here is that if there is any chance that the problem can be from the mail server, where can be the problem and how to end that problem.

I've setup postfix using mysql tables and all works except for sending to an alias. The mysql logs show that postfix is only looking at the mailbox table for where to deliver the mail for the alias. However it is not looking in the virtual alias maps table. There are no complaints from postfix on startup to indicate that there is anything wrong, and if I send to a virtual domain listed as a relay on the server it does look up the virtual alias table... even though the domain is not hosted on the server....
So the question I have is where to look next? The mysql log shows the expected lookups from postfix EXCEPT for the virtual alias map queries.... why would it not be checking the table? Since it is not looking up the virtual alias it bounces the addresses back to sender complaining that the user doesn't exist... It does deliver to a virtal mailbox, however again it never checks the vitual alias table.... so it only delivers since there's a mailbox for it rather than needing an alias...

This new account can send mail internally and externally but cannot receive mail internally and externally.
The error message internally is: 5.1.1 <admin@threadneedle.com.pg>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

I have a linux router with 2 physical ISPs and a VPN tunnel that all my traffic passes through. I would like to setup a rule to redirect all traffic from one internal IP address (10.0.0.x) through the physical link only. My current script is as follows.
iptables -F
iptables -X
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
[code]....
My goal is to do something similar to the mangle on the tor traffic, but for an entire host.
