I was expecting that notify-OSD bubbles behavior to bring the app displaying the notification, when you click on them. But in my case, when the mouse pointer enters the bubble, it fades out a little, and when I click on it, nothing happens.
Is that normal? Why doesn't a click bring the related app to front?
Consider I am logged on a machine via SSH.I execute a process having "&" at the end from a shell - I run the process in background.Then I log off from the machine.I am just wondering if it is possible to bring that process to front after I log onto the machine again?I would like to check the output of my running process.Or is there any different approach to have a process running in background and to be able to view its output (i.e. printf)

If i do either it appears too the computer as though I unplugged it even though it's still connected to the computer. Is there a way to bring back unmount so that it will still appear under places? Recently came across this system monitor for the desktop (in PartedMagic).I liked it,thought it would be fun to play with. It bills itself as being for Ubuntu, but it appears to be available through the Fedora repo.I'm just wondering if anyone is/has run it on their Fedora install? View 9 Replies View RelatedI have got a Creative X-fi gamer card. I have Creative 4.1 speakers. One of the front speaker doesn't work and I use one front and two rear and of course one subwoofer.
In Gnome, it works after I do few commands and all is well. But, in any other desktop environment only the front one speaker works and the rear two don't. Neither in KDE nor in XFCE or LXDE.
I am tearing my hairs on this. And it is indeed the same with other distributions.
Is it because now it has become actually 3.1 and channelling is not happening. But in Gnome they work.
I'm configuring an HP Mini 110 (wireless BCM4313) to use it as a small Access Point (ad-hoc mode).
I want to make my configuration reboot friendly. With what I have right now, as soon as I reboot the laptop, the wireless interface configuration isn't correctly setup. I have to do "ifdown eth1; ifup eth1" manually.
Here is what I have in /etc/network/interfaces for the wireless interface code...
So the question is how can I avoid having to bring down and up the interface?
I'm trying to switch from debian to fedora (13) and I'm stuck at getting yum to remove leave dependencies.
So far I've installed "yum-plugin-remove-with-leaves" and I'm able to remove leave dependencies if I invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument from command line.
But this doesn't work with graphical front ends and I want to remove unused leave dependencies every time if I remove a package not just if I remember to invoke yum with the "--remove-leaves" argument.
Later on I discovered an option in "/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/remove-with-leaves.conf" named "remove_always = 1" and uncommented it. But yum doesn't seem to care. I still need to add the "--remove-leaves" argument otherwise yum isn't going to remove the leave dependencies.
How to configure yum to handle dependencies the way I used to know from apt under debian? Install a package with a graphical front end and dependencies get pulled in as needed. Uninstall a package later on and dependencies installed in the first place are removed as well if not needed by anything installed in between.
Chat notifications on Pidgin and Empathy, for when I receive a message from someone while the chat is minimized, are slow. They could say "Hello there" "How was your day?" "For me, it was good" (Three messages in a row). I open my conversation after the last message was sent. I see a bubble that says "How was your day?" then another that says "For me, it was good".. But I already had the Conversation opened.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't used Eclipse on my laptop for a few months now, but all of a sudden I can't seem to right click anywhere in the program. The right mouse button still works for everything else (ie: in Firefox I can right click and the menu will appear). In Eclipse, though, if I right click on a project name, it will select the project, but no menu will appear (even if it is currently open project). This isn't how it used to act (nor is it, obviously, how is should act) but I'm not entirely sure what would have caused it. In all likelihood there was a system update that I forgot about, but has anyone come across this problem before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't remember what it's called, but this feature of VC++ basically catalogs all the functions of a project, lets you right click on a function and go directly to it's declaration or definition, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. it also gives you an info bubble of the variable types as you're typing a function's name.
this is a very convenient feature, and I'd like to use it with KDevelop, or really any full C++ IDE for linux. does such a thing exist?
this morning I got a bad surprise: Firefox doesn't start upon my click on its icon.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.... Even its icon disappeared from menus after reinstallation (no way to see it in the menu editor). I tried to start it from command line:

I am using Chrome now but I had some useful add-ons on Firefox and wouldn't like to loose them...

Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..

Then it just acts like I middleclicked in firefox itself. Personally I like this behaviour but was wondering why it is JUST firefox that has it. Would be great if I could achieve the same in Blender

Although I work primarily in my browser (Google Chrome), it does happen outside as well. I am running Gnome as the window manager.

This is a simple .conkyrc tweak that doesn't need feh, it doesn't have the distracting faun shadow-border and most importantly, it doesn't disappear when you click your desktop (On my system anyway). I found that getting rid of the own_window_argb_values yes suggested in other fixes and replacing it with a specific alpha and then changing window type to override solved all my issues. I've noticed no bugs or strange happenings. This seems to be a common problem with a lot of workaround solutions. I think this is a much more elegant way. Edit: Not persistant... After 2 reboots it's back to normal.
I have two wifi routers. If I stand next to the main one with my laptop I can connect and access the internet no problem. The other router is in my office, and the bridging is messed up, so while I see the essid and bssid using 'iwlist scanning' and nm-tool, I can't connect to it.
Now, my main router's signal still reaches to my office, just not as strong as the borked router in my office. I need to be able to choose which wifi network to connect to without wasting time walking between rooms. I added entries for both in network-manager, but it doesn't show them in the list when I left click the tray icon! How the do I connect to the network I want?
