View 3 RepliesIt appears that clicking on a link in Firefox doesn't work until you move the mouse, i.e. if I put the mouse on a link and hold it stationary and click the link, nothing happens, but as soon as I move the mouse, the link then activates. Sometimes, I have to double click the link to get it to work. I've read some posts where people claim that Firefox "freezes" until you move the mouse. In my case, Firefox doesn't "freeze" in the traditional sense. It just that clicking a link doesn't behave properly as it should. I didn't have this problem in 8.04LTS (or previous distributions for that matter) only in 10.04LTS. I'm running the 32-bit version on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop with nvidia-common driver 0.2.23.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently Firefox is showing some but not all the links inside a page in a website that I use every day.Firefox had worked well in the past years with this site, so I made a few tests:- I tested the web page on Firefox 3.5.9 on Fedora 12. Some links missing.- I tested the same web page on IE8 on Windows Vista. No issues, all links there.- I tested the same web page downgrading Firefox to version 3.5.4 and downgrading the required libraries. Same issue, some links missing.- I compared the html code that the web server hands to both IE8 and Firefox. They are exactly the same.I don't know enough about html or javascript to understand why Firefox doesn't like some of this code portion.
Code:
<td align='left'>
<p class='liga'><a href="javascript:GeneraId('11')"><img src="image.gif" BORDER=0
[code]...
after updating to fedora 15, the http links in Thunderbird doesn't work.I have tried many solutions, but without result.
- in prefs.js add :user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.ftp", "/usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "/usr/bin/firefox");- I have tried it with KDE and GNOME.
- move .thunderbird to .thunderbird.backup and reopen thunderbird. But still same problem.
- When I create a new user it works correctly! So I think it must be related to the update.
- I also change the default application (in System Settings) to google-chrome and Opera. But no result.
- http-links in other application (dolphin, nautilus, ...) works correctly
this morning I got a bad surprise: Firefox doesn't start upon my click on its icon.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.... Even its icon disappeared from menus after reinstallation (no way to see it in the menu editor). I tried to start it from command line:
code
firefox %u
and got this reply from Ubuntu:
GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times
I am using Chrome now but I had some useful add-ons on Firefox and wouldn't like to loose them...
I was just wondering about something. I have linked the middle click to initiate the cube rotation and it works perfectly except when I have the cursor on firefox. Then it just acts like I middleclicked in firefox itself. Personally I like this behaviour but was wondering why it is JUST firefox that has it. Would be great if I could achieve the same in Blender

I haven't used Eclipse on my laptop for a few months now, but all of a sudden I can't seem to right click anywhere in the program. The right mouse button still works for everything else (ie: in Firefox I can right click and the menu will appear). In Eclipse, though, if I right click on a project name, it will select the project, but no menu will appear (even if it is currently open project). This isn't how it used to act (nor is it, obviously, how is should act) but I'm not entirely sure what would have caused it. In all likelihood there was a system update that I forgot about, but has anyone come across this problem before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy eeepc 900 works well in general, i am very happy with it, and mostly with lucid. But I suddenly ,3 days ago, discovered that my left click button doesn't work anymore. Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter a while of sifting through other threads, I decided none of them could solve my problem. My problem: when I click the Firefox icon on the quick launch sidebar in 11.04, it just blinks and Firefox never opens.
I tried reinstalling Firefox, removing and reinstalling the packages from the Synaptic Package Manager but that's about it. When I type "Firefox" into the command line it says something along the lines of "/home/apw5020/firefox: firefox not found". When I go into usr/bin/firefox and run the shell script directly it will run however. Is the shortcut path non existent or just incorrect? Any idea how I can fix it?
When I run it in Classic, Firefox doesn't work either. By the way, I used some workaround to run Firefox 4 before 11.04 was released involving PPAs.
Alright ... recently switched from Ubuntu with FF 4.0 to Debian with Iceweasel which I had to upgrade to 4.0 since I really liked the way it worked on Ubu 10.10 ... but I'm having some really strange rendering issues. Flash is not a problem at all, works fine on all flash sites that I've checked out. Some sites though, including this Debian forum, do not show everything in the Iceweasel browser window.
For example, sometimes I'll be browsing on a page with huge chunks of white, clearly indicating that "something" should be in those spaces. When I look at those same pages with Chrome or Opera, everything is filled the way it should be ... all content is displaying properly.
On some sites, like this forum, the rendering is even worse because not only do some items not show up, but in addition most of the links don't work at all. For example, if I use Iceweasel 4.0 to look at the board index of this forum, I can't click on any of the links, not the links in the main sections anyway. If I open up Chrome (that's what I'm using to write this) or Opera, the problem is gone.
What the heck is going on, does anyone know? Is this an Iceweasel bug? Am I missing some package update? I'd hate to have to switch my preferred browser just because this weirdness is going on. At first I thought it was a fluke, specific to a site or two only, but at this point I've seen these rendering issues on about 10 sites ...
When I start firefox the mouse seems captured by it.I can use the mouse inside the firefox screen (change tabs, use menu, select/paste) but not anywhere else. Even if a popup appears (site wants to register a cookie) then I can only use the keyboard to "ok" it. alt-tab to another window is not possible.Using the mouse in the gome-panel won't work.I can get the mouse pointer anywhere on the screen but mouse clicks don't seem to register. I've had this problem before on 10.04 and the only thing that worked then was to create a new useraccount (a lot of hassle).
edit: The window manager also won't react to the mouse so closing the firefox window is not possible using the windowmanager buttons(X - 0)It's also not limited to Firefox,after I closed firefox via it's menu and then started a gnome-terminal the mouse was caught in that. After closing the gnome-terminal and restarting firefox it degraded even further in that the mouse would'nt even work in the window itself anymore.Only a reboor would reset the problem.
firefox 5 is almost my favourite browser. but there is the following bug: if you configure your Tabs on top (i think its the default setting) you can't access the url-adress-form with the hotkey F6. As workaround you can use F6 and TAB key - but that isn't very comfortable.....

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems that there is no way for me to install java plugin in firefox 3.6. I've already read some threads about similar problems but none of the solutions that worked for other people work for me. So I decided to open a new thread. Following instructions of other threads, I uninstalled all java packages and installed again just the three that you can see below, but nothing changed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having trouble getting Thunderbird to open links within my emails. When a link is clicked there is no response at all. I am running firefox version 3.6.2 and Thunderbird 3.0.3. After surfing the interweb and the forums I have tried setting the default browser through Firefox itself and through the preferred applications GUI in Ubuntu with no luck. I have gone into the about:config for Thunderbird and added the following lines:
network.protocol-handler.app.http /usr/bin/firefox
network.protocol-handler.app.https /usr/bin/firefox
Clicking on a web link in an application used to open Firefox in the foreground, on top of the calling application in previous versions of Ubuntu (i.e. whatever versions of applications shipped by default).
In Ubuntu 10.04 if I click on a link in an email message then it opens the page within Firefox 3.6.3, but leaves Firefox behind the calling application. I would prefer to have Firefox take the focus and load the web page on top of my email. I have tried the usual fixes (setting browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground and disabling the Ubuntu extensions), but I can not make Firefox take the focus. Funnily enough, most of the threads I see refer to preventing Firefox from opening on top.
The problem actually lies with Firefox (3.0.19) After I solved my problems, everything looked fine at first. That was until I went to one particular website and found that some links were missing. They simply were not showing in the browser. They were showing in the source code, so they should have appeared. Now, I have two different profiles by using:

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I click an external link, it opens a NEW Firefox window, instead of opening a new tab in a ALREADY OPEN Firefox instance, and worst of all, IT STAYS IN THE HOMEPAGE, not going to wherever it was supposed to.this is bad, and it renders useless some software functions, like Gmail Notifier, when I click to go to my account.if I set Chromium as default browser, it works like a charm. I believe this is happening since Natty upgrade. and I'm using Firefox 4.
