I just noticed that rhythmbox isn't showing the nice libnotify popups on song change. I use the next/prev buttons on my multimedia keyboard, but I can't see what I'm listening to anymore.I can't find the option to enable or disable this feature.how I can resolve this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedChat notifications on Pidgin and Empathy, for when I receive a message from someone while the chat is minimized, are slow. They could say "Hello there" "How was your day?" "For me, it was good" (Three messages in a row). I open my conversation after the last message was sent. I see a bubble that says "How was your day?" then another that says "For me, it was good".. But I already had the Conversation opened.

Not sure what I'm missing or how to find the problem. I'm still in my beginning months of using Ubuntu and I would appreciate any help I could get on this. View 1 Replies View RelatedSince when did the Rhythmbox notification icon get removed from the panel and merged in with the volume/sound notification icon in gnome?When I started using 10.10 Rythmbox had its own notification icon on the top gnome panel. now i have rebuilt my computer with 10.10 and the icon is gone but the Rythmbox controls are built into the sound notification icon.I did install the updates while the Ubuntu 10.10 install was running (there is an option to download and install update in the OS install wizard).I just want to know if this came down as some kind of update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a machine running Ubuntu 10.04 and I accidentally removed the Rhythmbox icon in the notification area by right clicking it and I think I must have selected remove or something.
The problem is I cannot seem to get it back and it is enabled under the Plugins section of Rhythmbox.
Using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 in Unbuntu 10.04, if you want to disable the pop up song notification every time it starts a new song, go to:
Edit -> Plugins
and un-check the "Status Icon" plugin.
I made the upgrade to 10.10 the other day, and it's pretty functional. The few problem that keep erking me are as follows: 1. Often when I boot up the gnome-panel is buggy, I run Code:
gnome-panel --replace to fix this, which it does. I'd just like it to look normal at boot up.
2. The GDM (or compiz) doesn't boot up correct all of the time. Every now and then I'll open a program after booting and will have no minimize/restore/exit buttons. I fix this buy just turning compiz on using the compiz-switch icon which I put up in my panel. 3. Why doesn't rhythmbox minimize to the notification area. I like the mini player in sound menu, but I hate that if you want it out of your system tray it has to be closed.
I accidentally removed rhythmboxes notification icon on my new Lynx installation and I dont know how to get it back.
View 2 Replies View Relatedcompleted the first of my five pending Lucid upgrades a few hours ago, the upgrade progress went real smooth. SoI have been checking various apps to make sure they are working ok after the upgrade, and noticed that Amarok will not show its notification (tray) icon in the usual place after the upgrade. This is a pain because normally one would launch Amarok, select a playlist/album whatever, than close the window and skip tracks whatever using the tray icon. Did a bit of googling and found a bug in launchpad it's because Amarok draws a custom icon instead of passing a bitmap, or something, but cannot locate the bug again now. I then tested Rhythmbox and found the same issue.

Today I start up the computer and rbox isn't showing the ubuntu one link.

When I click on unbuntu one in the system pref menu the dialog pops up and shows I am connected and gives the amount of space I have free.
As the titles says, applications enabled under "Startup Applications" does not show up in the "Notification Area". I can see that the processes are running, like update-notifier and xchat for example, but they have now icon representing them. I don't think I've ever seen an "There are updates available"-icon since I installed 10.10.
Edit: I didn't have any pending updates, so that explains why the update-notification icon's been missing.
Edit 2: Regarding the xchat icon my guess is it's simply loading before the Notification Area applet has, any known way around this?
i am using the latest version of Debian Squeeze. everything is up to date but the pidgin program doesn't display the notification icons in the top right corner like it's supposed to, whats the problem here because i don't like to manually check to see who has logged and who has logged off.

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor.Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was expecting that notify-OSD bubbles behavior to bring the app displaying the notification, when you click on them. But in my case, when the mouse pointer enters the bubble, it fades out a little, and when I click on it, nothing happens.
Is that normal? Why doesn't a click bring the related app to front?
I can't remember what it's called, but this feature of VC++ basically catalogs all the functions of a project, lets you right click on a function and go directly to it's declaration or definition, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. it also gives you an info bubble of the variable types as you're typing a function's name.
this is a very convenient feature, and I'd like to use it with KDevelop, or really any full C++ IDE for linux. does such a thing exist?
I'm using ubuntu 10.4 and accidently removed the notification area from the top panel. Since then, I haven't been able to retrieve the icon. As I've read in many threads, I've added a new panel and added a notification error, but the area stays empty. (see screenshot) My other icons like the volume control and the amarok icon were gone as well, but setting up a new indicator applet did the trick. Still, the skype icon won't come back, I've even removed Skype and reinstalled it, but nothing changed. how I could get the icon back again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a Sony NWZ-E345 MP3 player that used to be seen by Rhythmbox when running 9.10 with no issues. After enabling the plugin for MTP within Rhythmbox the player was seen at connection. However, after updating to 10.04 my MP3 player is not seen at all, even though MTP support is enabled under plugins. As a matter of fact none of the media players I installed can see my player and they all support MTP. I tried some other players as a troubleshooting step. I have confirmed that libmtp8 is installed via the repository. Has anyone encountered this as well? I suspect this may be an easy reply for someone. BTW, this occurs with two different machines and nothing has changed with my MP3 player.

If i close rhythmbox using the close tab on the window it closes to a daemon on the application bar.This is both fine and handy but i have a problem in that even when i left-click the daemon and hit 'quit', Rythmbox closes and then appears again a few seconds later. The same happens if i 'killall Rrhythmbox' in the terminal.I can also see, in conky, that Rhythmbox is running as a process when it re-opens and i can effectively 'show Rythmbox from the daemon - so its not just a daemon problem.Can someone either tell me how to permanently quit a running instance of Rhythmbox or tell me what setting i have enabled that keeps Rhtymbox opening?

After checking out [url] I noticed there is a newer stable version available. I have downloaded the tar.gz file, and followed the instructions in the INSTALL file.
The first step is to, in terminal, run ./configure before attempting to MAKE/MAKE INSTALL (won't let me do it anyways)..I run .configure, and at the end, I get this error:

I upgraded to 10.4 (64bit) Ubuntu and since then have been unable to rip CD's using the procedure in the Official DocumentationUbuntu Documentation > Ubuntu 10.04 > Music, Video and Photos > Music > Extract from a CD.But when a CD is placed in the drive Rhythmbox would not run.Typing rhythmbox in a terminal (with a CD) in the drive shows the message segmentation fault.
I found in the documentation that sound-juicer was used in the ripping process and as this was not installed - so I installed this.I can now rip a CD using sound-juicer and can run rhythmbox when there is no cd in the computer but I am a little puzzled as to what is happening.
I would very much like to add FEAR.FM [URL]to the Rhythmbox radio-player. I cannot find a direct link on the website and tried some others but none of them worked.
