For most actions on my system now it seems that clicking doesn't get a response on the first click. It can take 2 - 4 clicks at times for the system to react. Although I work primarily in my browser (Google Chrome), it does happen outside as well. I am running Gnome as the window manager.
View 2 Replieswhen i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.
how do you adjust the response time of the taskbar menus, such as when you click on the start button on the bottom left of the desktop? My problem is that when I click them, it would delay for about 1 second before popping up the menu. But right-clicking on the desktop popped out fine without any delay though. Is this normal? Where do I adjust the settings for this? I have configured my ATI graphics card succesfully. Direct rendering, desktop animation and everything else is working fine btw.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using both for awhile and can usually figure out my own problems, but I'm having issues with this one. I recently updated to the most recent version of Ubuntu. Before the update, everything was fine. But the first time I loaded my computer up after the restart for the update to come into effect I was hit with a problem. When the system loads up and logs in I'm met with a prompt asking me to "enter password for keyring 'default' to unlock." That is nothing new, I've always had that come up, but for some reason now when that appears I can't type in my password or click on anything whatsoever. I have control over my cursor and can move it by moving my mouse, but when attempting to click cancel, ok, or the password box or anything else there is no response. Because I can't get passed this prompt, I obviously cannot do anything on my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I enjoyed Gnome shell with Ubuntu 9.10 (but Ubuntu runs too slow on this computer for my druthers), I thought it would be fun to check out gnome shell on 11.3. I thought that since my 11.3 has gnome 2.30, that the gnome shell in the software manager would be a concomitant version, so I installed it. I then followed the directions given in the second posting of Enabling Gnome Shell in 11.3?
When I logged back in, I selected Gnome 3 Preview [even though I hadn't thought that that was what I'd installed -- (has openSUSE retired all older versions of Gnome shell?)]. The desktop won't boot (I don't know what the correct way of saying it is). The splash shows, but the icons just intermittently flash off and on at random intervals, never quite making it all the way "on." When I right click the bottom of the screen, I can select "terminal" (when I can accurately coordinate my double-click with the random, intermittent flashing), but then the terminal also does the random, intermittent flashing as well. So I can never get anything typed in. When I reboot, there's no login box.
Anyways, to my question. Recently when I have been clicking right click an image of what I clicked has appeared that will not go away. I have an example here:Logging out helps until I right-click again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu10.04 in VM. It worked without any problem. There was no GIMP in that version and thought to update the OS. I invoked update manager and updated the OS. After the update when I try to type in the password I see no response for my key board. Mouse works fine which is attached to my Key-board.
I deleted the VM completely and did a new Ubuntu10.04 installation it worked fine I could able to run couple of bash scripts but after update It doesn't response to keyboard.
I'm having problems with my internet connection; it seems to be working fine then every other click of a page there is no connection, then I click it again a second later and it works. I am using a wired network connection plugged into an addon wireless router.
When I use ping under network tools it seems to be fine, then freezes halfway through and doesn't receive those few packets, giving me a transmission percentage of about 70%.
clicking dosen't register on my desktop unless i am holding the super key, how can i fix this? It works on all progrmas and everything except on the desktop. I cant click icons, select with windowing, or drag the icons. right clicking still works normally. what should i do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a parallel port printer connected using usb->parallel adapter. Sometimes the printer prints sometimes it doesn't.
A job will go the print queue and then sit there for ages. Sometimes if I unplug and then replug the usb->parallel cable the printer will print other times it will print half the document then freeze until the cable was unplugged and replugged again.
The printer never shows up in the list using lsusb (only my usb mouse and scanner do).
The printer is an hp deskjet 690c and worked fine under WinXP through a normal parallel cable. The one thing I haven't tested (but will test tomorrow) is the usb->parallel cable in XP.
I try to configure mouse click interval since a single click is recognized as double click by doing it from KDE mouse configuration in system settings; but my attempt doesn't work even (I set the click interval to 2 sec, but doesn't change anything). What is the best way to do this in slackware?

could anybody tell me , does the xen kernel has impacts to the cluster , or is this only a networking problem not a system problem? I monitor the switch mac table, find that , the mac of eth0 is always changing . so maybe it is xen kernel problem. I refer to some xen materials , the eth0 is a virtual adapter .and the original physical adapter eth0 is renamed as pth0 and works as a bridge .so how could I fix a mac address to eth0 ?
I haven't used Eclipse on my laptop for a few months now, but all of a sudden I can't seem to right click anywhere in the program. The right mouse button still works for everything else (ie: in Firefox I can right click and the menu will appear). In Eclipse, though, if I right click on a project name, it will select the project, but no menu will appear (even if it is currently open project). This isn't how it used to act (nor is it, obviously, how is should act) but I'm not entirely sure what would have caused it. In all likelihood there was a system update that I forgot about, but has anyone come across this problem before?

From time to time I have no connection to the net after booting the machine. This is a wired connection that goes through a switch, then a router to a DSL modem. When there is no automatic connection, I can't connect manually either However if I re-boot the connection works normally.
The Network Connection indicates eth0 and eth1 are both set at "Auto" Strangely the "Last Used" column indicates "Never" for both even when I am actually connected, and on line.
There doesn't seem to be a one-click install on KDEs page for 4.4.4 only 4.4.3. Does anyone know if there is going to be one for 11.2 or is Suse targeting 11.3 ?

Tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.... Even its icon disappeared from menus after reinstallation (no way to see it in the menu editor). I tried to start it from command line:

Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..

I have credit on the dongle account, so it isn't that. I'm using fedora 14 on an acer aspire one netbook. Dongle is a Huawei E160 on o2 here in the UK Kernel is 2.6.35.11-83.i686.fc14
Sometimes unplugging and replugging the usb dongle works. Othertimes, I have to leave it out for several hours. It does seem to happen daily, though.
The shares get mounted correctly and you can navigate through the directories and open files.The only problem is that it randomly starts going really slow taking 30 seconds or longer to open a directory that has 2 or 3 files in it.I have tried quite a few things to try and fix this without any luck. Its getting to the point where I am having to consider recommending that we use windows instead, which I would rather not do as I think its good for students to experience different operating systems during school.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was expecting that notify-OSD bubbles behavior to bring the app displaying the notification, when you click on them. But in my case, when the mouse pointer enters the bubble, it fades out a little, and when I click on it, nothing happens.
Is that normal? Why doesn't a click bring the related app to front?
