There doesn't seem to be a one-click install on KDEs page for 4.4.4 only 4.4.3. Does anyone know if there is going to be one for 11.2 or is Suse targeting 11.3 ?

When I click it, a window opens but I loose the menu bar. I click on a post in this window, and the same happens. So, if I want to save the page, I have no way to do it.

Having done a new install of Open Suse 11.3 I'm trying to get back to using Mplayer and Cairo-dock, just to mention two packages. Is the version 11.3 still too new, or is there a fault in the auto installs of 11.3? I have managed to download the rpm of Cairo-dock but the Cairo-dock-plugins have dependency problems which I presume should be resolved using the One Click Install - when it works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically what has happened is that I have installed the nvidia drivers for a 9800 GT from the One-click install for the newer video cards. It seems to have succeeded although I am having difficult activating 3D effects. What happens is that whenever I activate Compiz settings, it works for about 2 seconds (wobbly windows is my test) and then quickly goes back to standard. Is this something I have done wrong or is my hardware incompatible? It works in other distributions I have tried so I'm assuming it is a fault on my part.

The 1-click install repository links for the "Easy Way" and "Repository Way" will be populated after the mid-July-2010 release of openSUSE-11.3." Well 11.3 is of course out now, so anyone know where the links are? I know I could do it the 'Hard Way' and I've done it that way many times in the past. But these days I'm older and lazier and prefer the 'Easy Way'.
Why does it take almost 700 MB of automatic changes when trying to one-click install qinternet (223 KB?) I Got to the forum to ask this question by using rcsmpppd and then wvdial. Those programs are ok but they provide no progress bar/speed meter.
Also does anyone know why qinternet was dropped from the 11.4 - KDE distro? What a pain for us poor old 56K modem bound souls here in the sticks of Texas! Hope you meet some of you at the Texas LinuxFest, April 2,2011 at the Hilton-downtown!

View 8 Replies View RelatedBefore the update my computer was named "joe-laptop", (i think it was the host name is what its called, that was named "joe-laptop". Along with that, on my KDE session/desktop (I installed Ubuntu, but later got the kubuntu desktop packages) I had the gnomes network manager used instead of KDEs (kdes network manager was giving me problems, I would type the password in for my wifi router, then it would stall, then ask again as if its ignoring the password. but thats not important so im not gonna get into that whole part (at least yet)).
When i upgraded from ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 the login screen said "localhost.localdomain" rather than "joe-laptop", and in the terminal it says "joe@localhost", rather than "joe@joe-laptop", along with that it kicked KDEs network manager back into use on the kde desktop, which means I can't access the internet on kde now.
I'm trying to fix the network manager part myself, but if I can't get that Ill post in this thread or edit this post. I was able to previously get gnomes network manager to load over it so I'm sure I'll hit it again.
I figured out the problem, it turns out that the name problem was that it deleted the /etc/hosts file, so i just copied the older hosts I backed up a month or so ago and slapped it in there and it worked perfect.
As for getting the gnome network manager, it must not be compatible with the qtcurve gtk theme, cause I switched it the gtk theme to a newer one, then loaded back up nm-applet and bam it came up there!
I tried to install the easy way, the catalist driver. I used this page: SDB:ATI drivers - openSUSE When I clicked the link, yast asked for the root password. After ar reboot, no more desktop. Then I did init 3 adn startx ( it seems although I have no desktop, I am in runlevel 5)

I want to use secure file permissions within OpenSUSE, but having to provide the root password for every window I click is just a little too much.Wonder what the setting "paranoid" does then. And I also wonder how to adjust the safe settings to not get prompted with every single click.
