I have got red hat5 installed on my pc,but not able to run perl or php programs on it. only html display can be obtained,but perl and php programs are not running on firefox browser.when executed,web browser page with server not found msg is displayed.

GTK is one option i got. But anyone knows any tool which is more user friendly, require less tweaking around for the set-up and is somewhat readymade for running perl scripts? View 1 Replies View Relatedi am trying to do something very simple like a header and a footer for my first perl programs, what iam trying to do is that when i create a file in vim: lets say hello.pl , i would like that file to have already this in its header:
#!/usr/bin/perl
and this on the footer:
print "
";
so that i dont have to type everytime #!/usr etc i tried to do it this way but i get weird vim errors: header is a file that contains the header and footer $ vim hello.pl;header > is there another way to do it as a function in bash or some other one liner command?
CentOS and RHEL even though I've been using various Debian/Ubuntu Distros for quite some time. However, I always used to install perl modules via apt-get or, if that did not work, via cpan.In CentOS, I tried installing a couple of perl modules via yum but there are only a very few available. When trying to install perl modules via cpan, the install process usually fails during the make process.I'd prefer to install those modules via the distribution's package manger yum as it's easier to resolve dependencies. Are there any repositories I should add to have more perl packages available? (Where to add further repositories, I just know /etc/apt/sources.list in debian based distros)The other option still would be to install perl modules via cpan. For instance, when trying to cpan install Geo::IP, the output is as follows:

Like under Windows, there is a shortcut for minimizing all windows: Win+D. However under Gnome this does not work similar as under Windows. Under Windows I can just press Win+D and everything will get minimized. However under Gnome this does not work for fullscreen programs.
I have to close a fullscreen application and start it again if I just want to switch to another program like for example from a game to my browser. I don't want to close it but only minimize it.

I recently reinstalled the B module for perl. Now I found out it didn't just do that, it installed a whole new copy of perl into /usr/local/bin/perl. When I type 'which perl' at the terminal, it says '/usr/local/bin/perl' instead of '/usr/bin/perl'. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. But I installed the one in local/bin without threading support. The one that comes with the system already is build with threading support, which is why I want to switch back to the system perl, and possibly remove the one in /usr/local/bin.
So how do I change it so that the result of 'which perl' returns as '/usr/bin/perl'? And what do I have to do to remove /usr/local/bin/perl?
The reason I need threading support is because I'm designing a file copier that copies several chunks of a file simultaneously to speed up the copying process. Guaranteed a useful script if it works.
Some of my programs don't start or don't work! For example, when I click on MultiGet, don't starts or when I want open a file with blebder, it does crash and when I want to save a file, it does crash! I use f14 and my laptop is inspiron-dell 1564 with intel VGA and the lastest updates are installed on my laptop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install bitcoin onto my computer, and the Linux version only comes in tar.gz, and I can extract it just fine, however when I put in ./configure using the command line...it doesn't work...so I checked the README file and it didn't mention doing that...it simply told me to run either /bin/64/bitcoin or to run /bin/32/bitcoin However when I try running first one, /bin/64/bitcoin, it simply says something about there not being a shared library...But when I try to run /bin/32/bitcoin it simply says "Permission Denied" and yes I tried running as root when I first saw that...didn't do any good.

I was wondering if torrents and torrent programs don't work as well in Linux compared to Windows.I have used them in the past but all of a sudden, nothing would work in my Kubuntu install. Absolutely nothing would start. I tried different configurations, settings, but nothing. I left it alone and rebooted and started up XP. I've got Debian Sid x64 on my machine. Problem is that in my KDE setup several programs don't work, namely System Load Viewer plasmoid, plasmoid with temperature info and update-notifier-kde. System Load Viewer always shows 0% RAM and swap usage, as well as no processors, temperature sensors plasmoid shows no sensors available even after I installed lm-sensors and run sensors-detect, update-notifier-kde doesn't show any notifications even if I run aptitude update manualy. I might be mistaken but it seems to me that these three programs are not working because of some common reason, most likely some policy package either missing or misconfigured, but I can't figure out what is it.

It just seems that all program output stops at one point and never resumes. I am wondering if FC11 has any known threading issues that one may need to know about before trying to use it to run their software from FC10 or FC12. Maybe something in the way that threading is handled differently from FC10 or FC12 that is not necessarily a problem, but just needs to be kept in mind when writing code for FC11.

I have a small problem with Perl and Apache.
If I use "#!/usr/bin/perl" in the beginning of a perl script the script won't work if the script is at all complicated. Simple scripts like "Hello World" works.
But if I use "#!/usr/bin/perl -w" in the beginning all scripts work?
If I don't use the -w this is whats in the logs:

When I use the -w in the script the error-log shows me this.
