CentOS 5 :: Installing Perl Modules Does Not Work?

Mar 2, 2011

CentOS and RHEL even though I've been using various Debian/Ubuntu Distros for quite some time. However, I always used to install perl modules via apt-get or, if that did not work, via cpan.In CentOS, I tried installing a couple of perl modules via yum but there are only a very few available. When trying to install perl modules via cpan, the install process usually fails during the make process.I'd prefer to install those modules via the distribution's package manger yum as it's easier to resolve dependencies. Are there any repositories I should add to have more perl packages available? (Where to add further repositories, I just know /etc/apt/sources.list in debian based distros)The other option still would be to install perl modules via cpan. For instance, when trying to cpan install Geo::IP, the output is as follows:

CPAN: Storable loaded ok
Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata

CentOS 5 :: Installing Additional Perl And Mysql?

Dec 9, 2009

I have a permission to use several CentOS5 computers that are connected to a server where all shared programs sit. Accordingly, all Perl users for example have an identical path to Perl (e.g. /export/user/bin). The administrator suggested I'll install all the programs I need (specifically Perl and Mysql) in my personal space, and then add them to the path before the already installed ones. Accordingly, I could add/change modules without "sudo" privileges, and without changing the global setting.

Ubuntu :: Switch Back To /usr/bin/perl After Installing Second Perl?

Aug 14, 2010

I recently reinstalled the B module for perl. Now I found out it didn't just do that, it installed a whole new copy of perl into /usr/local/bin/perl. When I type 'which perl' at the terminal, it says '/usr/local/bin/perl' instead of '/usr/bin/perl'. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. But I installed the one in local/bin without threading support. The one that comes with the system already is build with threading support, which is why I want to switch back to the system perl, and possibly remove the one in /usr/local/bin.

So how do I change it so that the result of 'which perl' returns as '/usr/bin/perl'? And what do I have to do to remove /usr/local/bin/perl?

The reason I need threading support is because I'm designing a file copier that copies several chunks of a file simultaneously to speed up the copying process. Guaranteed a useful script if it works.

Slackware :: Freenode, Cap_sasl.pl And Irssi: Slackbuilds For The Perl Modules?

Feb 8, 2010

With the latest Freenode changes SSL connection is now possible which presents no problem, particularly with rworkman's ca-certificates slackbuild, But configuring sasl for the password to nickserv presents a bit more of a challenge as 3 perl modules are required: Crypt::OpenSSL::Bignum, Crypt::DH, Crypt::Blowfish and Math::BigInt. I have not packaged perl modules for slackware before and I guess there is always a first time but can I ask if anybody has already neatly packaged up the required perl modules? I suspect they will be very popular with Freenode slackware irc users...

CentOS 5 :: How Can I Install Per Modules

Jun 20, 2010

I have a dedicated server. It doesn't have any GUI (gnome or something like that), so i need to use terminal, which is hard for a non-advanced user. So i have a few questions:I'm hosting a CS server and a few other servers later on. But right now only CS server. With it i need to start another perl window, which updates the stats to the website and database. So how can i start both server, that program and maybe use the console at the same time?Another question is: when i quit the server, it automatically restarts. How can i just kill the process? I don't want to restart my server every time i want to shut down the CS one.

About perl: how can i install per modules and how can i know the translations of perl modules from windows to linux names? And is there any firewalls by default clean installation, which might 27500 port and any connections trough 3306 to the database on my web server? If no, how come, that my program is unable to connect to my website database? Will my own email server take a lot of resources? Which only i would use and wouldn't receive much mail? And are there any guides how can i do that? Will a web server, which wouldn't take much visitors each day take a lot of resources?

all config files need.conf /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
How to write this code so I wont get this error and I can load these modules and also how to edit the modprobe.conf.

The code is below, using fedora 13.
You must load these two modules to work with card reader.
First : Remove the card from the Reader!
AS superuser type in console :
1. /sbin/modprobe tifm_core <enter>
2. /sbin/modprobe tifm_sd <enter>

If you want to automate these modules loading do the following :
edit the /etc/modprobe.conf file
add these :
alias mmc_core tifm_core
alias mmc_card tifm_sd

OpenSUSE Network :: Installing Driver Error - No Rule To Make Target `modules' - Stop

Apr 13, 2011

I am relatively new to linux and am running into a problem. I just got a new laptop and need to configure/install it's wireless driver but am getting an error when running "make". The error is: make[1]: Entering directory `/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop/build' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `modules'. Stop.

I have scoured these forums and know that others have the same issue (when configuring other drivers/programs). I am sorry if this post is redundant. It sounds like the Makefile is pointing to the wrong directory. I am using opensuse 11.4, have make and gcc installed. My kernel is linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 (I just re-installed the desktop kernel to make sure it was up to date). The driver I am trying to install is located here: AUR (en) - rtl8192ce.

Another forum suggests pointing somewhere in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.1-1.2 directory instead. Is this correct? Should I be pointing to a folder within this? I am not a programmer but any description about what I am actually putting in this directory and why would be awesome (so I can learn a bit more). Or just helping me solve the problem would be great too.

CentOS 5 :: Firewire 1394 Modules Missing?

Nov 5, 2009

I am relatively new to CentOS. I attempted to install 5.3 with firewire several weeks ago and abandoned the install because it was taking too long to figure out the problems. I've had to revisit this and am having troubles with it. I was told that CentOS 5 has firewire 1394 support. When I did the typical install, it didn't physically (manually) install the video1394 and raw1394 modules. At boot up, my computer says that video1394 and raw1394 are "Module(s) not found". If I do <lsmod> I get (*snippet of o/p),
