Online Updated prompted me today to import a new key that was created today for the KDE4 Community repository (SUSE 11.2). How can I verify the key's signature? How can I make sure that the repository has not been hacked and the key I am going to import is the correct key. I was expecting a note somewhere on the openSUSE website about the new key or a list of currently valid keys, where I can compare the signatures. But I could not find such a list or so.

I am unable to get my Zune 80 to sync with the Zune software as an error comes up when I plug in my Zune saying that the device driver was not properly installed. I am using vmware player, operating system is ubuntu. I have just installed the apache httpd-2.2.19. I am using the manual method. ./configure, make, make install. No error message.

I'm rather new to linux and I am trying to set up two linux servers to do MySQL replication. I believe to do this you need to have a file called my.cnf in /etc/ but this file isn't there I have tried un-installing and installing MySQL many times but this file still doesn't appear.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an hp pavilion 15-b106ed with UEFI. I disabled secure boot and installed debian jessie form the CD1 iso (RC1 installer) burned to an USB key. Installation went smoothly, but after rebooting I get grub's terminal-like screen saying:
"GNU GRUB version 2.02 beta2-9ubuntu1. Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported... etc"
The problem is that as soon as I turn on the computer that grub screen shows up and I can't boot from USB anymore nor
access the BIOS settings, no matter how fast I press F9, F10 and such. I guess I have to tell him to boot from the USB using the grub terminal...
I installed debian and want to install compiz (properly).Read this thread Compiz and followed the instruction to install the packages. It mentions xorg.conf which does not exist where it tells me to look.I can type "compiz --replace" and it does do something but all the window borders disappear. I tried compiz setting manager - still same problem.And no visual effects (presumably due to missing xorg.conf)
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 11.4/LXDE which comes with FF 4 Beta, The openSUSE Flash Plugin package was automatically installed, but doesn't seem to be installed into FF properly. When FF > Addons is opened, no Flash plugin is listed. If you then attempt to install install Flash from Adobe, Adobe doesn't seem to recognize FF 4 as a supported browser.
On top of that, if you visit the nVidia site to explore OEM display drivers, their site is Flash driven and won't permit driver searching, must less browsing and possible downloading. This was important to me to try to obtain the OEM nVidia Configuration Manager which vastly enhances display management, particularly on the somewhat lean LXDE desktop.
I installed Ubuntu 9.10 desktop x86 on my macbook pro, I selected erase and use entire harddisk, after install, I restarted, but there is only a flashing question mark on a gray background screen, if I press option when power on, I can select a disk called "windows", then it boots into ubuntu, I wonder what is the problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy monitor kept powering down after 20 minutes so I installed Gnome-power-manager by yum so that I could change the settings. After the installation and every time I try to use it I get a message saying:

I'm now unable to effect a change in the power settings and the display keeps turning off.
1) Is someone able to post their config file from a working F12 install? I believe it's /etc/dbus-1/system.d/gnome-power-manager.conf but not certain as I don't have one ;-)
2) ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-power-manager/%gconf.xml is empty - is it empty for someone with a working install?
3) how I can change the power settings without the gui - I'm googling on this point and will post the answer as and when I find it.

I have just bought a Mac and I will be using Ubuntu 10.04 as my primary development OS by virtualizing it using VirtualBox.Now, my requirement is, I had a near perfect development environment setup on my Ubuntu box and I don't want to install the packages, apps, setting etc again on my VirtualBox VM.
I know there are ways to export apps, setting etc, but is there some app which will actually create a VDI disk for my VirtualBox which, when I plug in to my VirtualBox, I will get the old Ubuntu on my VM.
Running Fedora 10, I installed CentOS 5 in Virtualbox, but I can't ping the Virtual Machine...
From within CentOS, I can ping my laptop [known as the host?] but from the laptop I can't ping the CentOS Virtual Machine. I tried turning off the firewall on both too... CentOS was able to access the internet through my laptop right away without any configurations too.
Unless someone has an idea to resolve the above, I am also wondering about something else VirtualBox-related:
To see if it was possible to get around the above issue, I was going to install another CentOS virtual machine to see if I can get them to communicate both ways [if at all], but to do so, I think I have to install CentOS AGAIN on another allocated amount of hard disk space. This will take some time, so I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to just create a quick duplicate of the previous installation, if you wanted 2 different virtual installations of the same OS.
When you have a computer whose hard drive is partitioned with one part Windows and the other Linux, what are the concerns with viruses and transference across the two systems? Can viruses infect the windows side brought over through the Linux side (Firefox) or are the partitions completely separated? In other words, if all of your Internet voyages are through Firefox under Linux, is there any danger of infecting the Windows side of the computer? What about when having Linux installed within the Windows portion as a virtual system?

I have installed bind9 for DNS. I have also installed Apache2, PHP5, MySQL, and correctly configured these together. When I view domain1.co.uk it currently works fine as required. I would like to change it to:

Nevertheless, I have created a the following files; these are copies of the "default" file and correctly amended. the required destination directories are in place!

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64bit using Wubi. I had 32 bit installed in a Virtual machine on Windows but I wanted to install it to my harddrive (and wubi was easiest). My questions begin with Virtual Box. I have Windows XP installed via Virtual box. Ordinarily, I hate everything about windows, but unfortunately some things related to my job I am still in need of having some access to some form of Windows. I also installed Fedora 14 on my USB External Hard Drive which it has it own boot sector. I don't want to have a dual boot. So if I plug in my external HD to my laptop and turns the machine on, it automatically my Fedora comes up, other wise my windows 7. (I set up start-up boot drive , first to USB External HD and then internal HD)

How does one access a Virtual Box installed Fedora system? I'd like to be able to ssh into this system (locally) but I've no idea how to do this. There is an ip address of 10.0.2.15. Ping doesn't work (ping 10.0.2.15). Should I just go ahead and assign a 192. address to this box before I go any further? It would seem that at this point the system isn't actually a part of my local network and I don't imagine it would be unless it has a 192 address.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent considerable hours searching forums and googling. I have yet to find out what "lm-sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:" is actually looking at. I have an Abit IP35 motherboard with Ubuntu 9.04 installed.
Here is the output from sensors:
Virtual Device Temp 1 keeps going up to 121 degrees and the computer shuts down. None of the others overheat. Also, my bios does not show my voltages to be set like it lists above. The bios in the motherboard is the latest from Abit.
When I create virtual ethernet interface and do a ping -I <v_int> <host> the outgoing address is the one of the physical interface and NOT the virtual interface.Is there no chance that trafic will go out with virtual interface address??Incoming trafic is done well i.e. responds to the virtual interface have the virtual address.
My problem is that I have 2 modems and want to check both default gw behind the modems.
If I do a "normal" ping both are reachable over default route even the modem which is not the default route will not work because ping goes over the working modem.So I have 2 routing tables and want to route the virtual interface to one modem the other to the other modem
