View 1 Repliesi have a HP MSA 2312fc SAN with 2 LUNs configured. The first LUN (LUN ID 1) is correctly connected to the system, but when i connect the second LUN (LUN ID 30), i find in the syslog this message: multipathd: 8:64: size 6835937472, expected 5267578112. Discard
Here is the multipath.conf
[Code]....
So I correctly see the two luns, but multipath doesn't create the relative devices. Under /dev/mapper I see: control mpath0 mpath0-part1 mpath0-part1 is the first lun, the one I mounted in a directory under filesystem. I can't find the device for the second lun
I have updated my laptop HP Pavilion dev7 to fedora 11. However, samba does not works properly. I can see share folders to mother machines, but not the shares in the laptop from other machines. The most annoying problem is that system-config-samba crashes. I run it as user, with sudo or su , but nothing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've installed several programs. Some installed and worked, some did not. I installed Konversation and Audacity. Both work fine. When I installed bitpim via RPM downloaded from bitpim.org it installed fine. It is not in the applications area. I type Alt+F2 and i start to type in bitpim (it types the rest) and press enter. nothing happens.
i installed PythonCard through the terminal using yum install PythonCard. It installed fine and it is not in applications and is nowhere to be found. However when I type yum install PythonCard again in the terminal it says it is up to date. So I removed it and reinstalled. Same problem.
When I delete things from my home directory, or from my desktop,my trash can on the desktop stays empty, and the Empty Trash in the right-click menu stays disabled. The files disappear from view, but the disk space remains labeled as used. The only way I can empty my trash is through the trash on the panel. Weird

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Linux. I have recently made my first Linux install using Fedora 11 and Alfresco with a view to running a PoC ECM server. After some initial teething troubles and a seemingly exponential learning curve, Fedora and ALfresco are now installed and running bar a couple of things. Alfresco relies on swftools to automatically transform file types and swftools does not come installed either with Fedora, as an available package to download within the Add/Remove software program or with Alfresco.
I have installed the dependencies of swftools (zlib-devel, libjpeg-devel, giflib-devel, freetype-devel, gcc, gcc-c++ and make) but for some reason neither swftools-0.8.1 nor swftools-0.9.0 will compile properly. I even installed lame in case but still problems. This is what I do to install:
tar -zvxf swftools-0.9.0.tar.gz *stuff happens*
cd swftools-0.9.0
./configure --disable-lame (lame disabled as advised by Alfresco Wiki) *stuff happens*
make *stuff happens with errors*
The errors include :
warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
invalid conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*'
Error 2 etc...
I only use it to run a program off of CD, not an installed application. This same program ran fine with wine under Fedora 10 & 11, but not on Fedora 12. I installed wine with:
Code: yum install wine as root. When I try to execute the program, it shows the little bouncing wine icon and all, but then wine disappears. Also, when I looked at the wine configuration, the configuration program crashed/hung. I had to kill it via the System Monitor. I'm on a KDE desktop with hardware acceleration, and Fedora 12 x86_64.
F12 + Samba4, services smb and nmb set to run at levels 2345 - after reboot, I need to manually doservice nmb restartin order for all machines on the network to "see" the shared folders. It appears that service nmb does NOT start properly, as when above command is entered it shows "FAIL" as message for stopping the service.

I'm running fedora 12 64-bit with XFCE desktop. Updated to firefox 3.5.9 yesterday and that hasn't solved my issue... Just recently it is SO slow. I would even say its on ie standards I sometimes sit with pages "loading" only to find that the url soon changes to "search history and bookmarks" and the bottom left corner message says "stopped" - its most unreliable. at first i thought it was my sometimes dodgy internet connection but i have done several speed tests and after waiting ages for the page to load, the speed test comes up with about 2Mbps. This speed is not translated to the speed firefox is loading pages - several times i've had to stop all tabs loading and then reload them just because firefox seems to have forgotten its meant to be looking on the internet and "thinks" putting a message "loading" in the tab will do

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running fiirefox 4 on f14 and was prompted to install firefox 6 by the browser. Usually i download the gc.bz2 file, right click, extract it, run the terminal, cd into the folder, and once into the folder I run ./firefox.
I did that the first time and the new firefox was working fine, without my shortcuts or plugins installed in the new firefox. But the menu in applications still pointed to firefox 4. I tried something on the web to make firefox 6 the "default" browser but then Firefox 6 just completely disappeared. Even when I cd into the newly extracted "firefox" folder in "Downloads" it will still launch firefox 4.
So my question is how do u properly install a gc.bz2 file? Also how do u remove unwanted applications in the Applications menu? I currently have two firefox shortcuts and two chrome short cuts which each launch the same version of the software. When I right click on it nothing there says "remove shortcut" or anything. Also is there any way to move your favourites/shortcuts from ur old firefox to the new one? What's the propper way to do what i'm trying to do ?
I am having issues with Fedora 11 and audio. I have pulse audio running and configured. The volume control on the top panel (GDE) works properly, but i do not hear any volume until I move it up past 50%. I tested it with the advanced volume controls opened and it even shows the master volume not moving until the volume slider on the panel reaches at least 50%. Can anybody help with fixing this. It is very annoying. Thanks in advance for the support.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Fedora 11 KDE as my primary operating system at work, but i am having a little bit of troubles getting an audio player to work properly. I am trying to play music off of a separate primary FAT32 file system (which is my shared drive amongst all my operating systems), but when i attempt to load the files via JuK, i receive this error: cannot find demultiplexer plugin for MRL.
I have been playing around with other players as well, and it seems like the only other player which will actually load up the media on this separate partition is Banshee, but doesn't seem to want to play it.
I just wanted to check, I'm using nouveau on Fedora 12 with the latest updates and each time I wake the machine from suspend, the fan on my XFX 8800GT goes to full speed and stays there. I've read some nouveau stuff and they say that nouveau doesn't control the fan speed, so I think the card is running in a safety mode after wake up where it runs the fan at full speed to be safe. The only suggestion I saw for fan speed and nouveau was to use nvclock to manually adjust the fan but that sounds dangerous to me. I think I'll just go to the closed rpmfusion driver then if this is the case.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my laptop from fedora 10 to 12, in spite of all kinds of hassles I am nearly able to use the system. Except I noticed that whenever I connect to the ethernet via NetworkManager, both of firefox(3.5.6) and thunderbird(3.0) won't start a window and there is no error output. The programs just hang there so that I have to kill them explicitly. The strange thing is that if I just disconnect the network then they can start up without problem. I can then reconnect to the network and both of them work fine.

I have fedora 10 (32bit) on the other laptop and mplayer, kmplayer ffmpeg mencoder ...installed there, all working properly.
On my new laptop I want to try the most updated fedora 64bit. but I could not install mplayer or ffmpeg.
I tried to listen to my music:
PHP Code...
but there's no sound. I tried to play a 45 minutes rmvb, but the progress bar quickly marched to the end within 3 seconds, no sound, no video either.
I removed kmplayer then reinstalled it, but problem is not solved. so what's wrong?
I just received a new workstation from a vendor with Fedora14 supposedly installed in it. The problem is, it does not boot up properly. Although I've contacted them to resolve the problem, I thought I'd ask here to see if I can expedite things. Bottom line, the machine goes through the boot-up process, but only so far. Rather than getting to the log-in screen, I only see a white bar at the bottom of the screen, with "Fedora14" adjacent to it. Is there a way that I can get into the set of configuration menus for setting up the OS? They neglected to include the source disks with the system, if that is what is required.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just installed F11 on my new laptop (Acer Timeline 3810T) and I have the following issue when adjusting volume. The keyboard shortcuts work, but they don't raise/lower the volume smoothly, instead they do it in 4 or 5 increments total. What's weird is that the notification that appears in the screen when I adjust the volume (the whitish square with a picture of a speaker, I think it's part of Compiz) shows the the volume changing in small increments, but when I get to the 3rd or 4th little increment from the right the volume is already muted. If I look at the alsa volume controls at the same time, I see it changing by the 4 or 5 big increments.

Checking, the newest kernel listed in grub.conf is the one I'm using, not the one I just installed. What do I need to do to get the updated kernel properly listed and ready to use?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHey all, I need help here! Whenever I boot up Fedora 13 my computer just decides to stop doing things right before the graphical login screen comes up. The system starts up properly, but after the "local" program starts, it goes to the fedora-colored blue screen right before the login screen usually comes up. I can still bring up consoles with ctrl alt f1/f2 and switch the tty screens. Whenever I try to start the X server using the X or Xorg command, it echoes the usual stuff and then the screen goes black. After that, nothing happens. I can get out of X by using the classic ctrl alt backspace method.
I haven't checked any X logs other than Xorg.0.log, but I'll post the others for any special failures soon.
I'm runnig f 13 on my laptop, and it runs like a charm. But once in a while, the internet doesn't seem to work properly. It mostly works, but right now i am unable to reach certain pages such at google (which is annoying), whereas other pages like yahoo and this one works perfectly well.
