Fedora :: Installed CentOS 5 In Virtualbox But Can't Ping The Virtual Machine?

Running Fedora 10, I installed CentOS 5 in Virtualbox, but I can't ping the Virtual Machine...
From within CentOS, I can ping my laptop [known as the host?] but from the laptop I can't ping the CentOS Virtual Machine. I tried turning off the firewall on both too... CentOS was able to access the internet through my laptop right away without any configurations too.
Unless someone has an idea to resolve the above, I am also wondering about something else VirtualBox-related:
To see if it was possible to get around the above issue, I was going to install another CentOS virtual machine to see if I can get them to communicate both ways [if at all], but to do so, I think I have to install CentOS AGAIN on another allocated amount of hard disk space. This will take some time, so I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to just create a quick duplicate of the previous installation, if you wanted 2 different virtual installations of the same OS.
Every time I try to start a virtual machine in VirtualBox I get this error:

after upgrading VirtualBox from 3.0.x to VirtualBox-OSE-3.1.2-1.fc12.x86_64 VBox fails to start any virtual machine with error: Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-eth0' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).
I get FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.31.12-174.2.19.fc12.x86_64/extra/VirtualBox-OSE/vboxnetflt.ko): Invalid module format FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetadp (/lib/modules/2.6.31.12-174.2.19.fc12.x86_64/extra/VirtualBox-OSE/vboxnetadp.ko): Invalid module format Kernel is (obviously) kernel-2.6.31.12-174.2.19.fc12.x86_64, but same thing happens with any installed kernel, IE kernel-rt-2.6.31.12-1.rt20.1.fc12.ccrma.x86_64
I reinstalled VBox and kmods got rebuilt but the problem persists.
My laptop is running Linux Mint 9 and I am trying to install Fedora 13 in a virtual machine within Virtualbox. However, it's not working. It takes forever to get past the initial white/blue loading bar when it first boots and then it just goes white, so I can't see anything. I've already tried modifying the bootline parameter of the live CD to include noprobe, noacpi, noapic, nousb, and nofirewire. However, the result is the same. Am I missing something? Is it possible to install this?
I have Linux server with VMware Server 1.0.8. When I creating a virtual machine, I can not "send" a PING to the virtual machine. In the virtual machine, I have installed CentOS 5.3 (32bit). In the virtual machine I have defined the addresses IP. So, whey I can't "sent" a ping to the virtual machie? I have to set something on the Linux server?
When i try to create a virtual machine using the Windows 7 Enterprise Evaluation iso file, everything goes as planned untill i click on the start button. when i click on it i get two error messages. the first: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 7. I've a weird problem about my honeypot project. All start from installation until running process is going smoothly but when I try to ping my honeyd vm from honeyd host it couldnt but it can be ping from other machine inside my local network. I am also usinng arpd for ARP request reply and standard honeyd config.
I have a Lenovo T500 laptop with 4 GB RAM. I have installed Windows 7 64bits OEM on my laptop HD. I also installed Fedora 14 on my USB External Hard Drive which it has it own boot sector. I don't want to have a dual boot. So if I plug in my external HD to my laptop and turns the machine on, it automatically my Fedora comes up, other wise my windows 7. (I set up start-up boot drive , first to USB External HD and then internal HD)
I installed KVM (Virtual Machine Manger) on my Fedora 14 and I am trying to install windows 7 64bits OEM on my Fedora 14 as Virtual Machine. After setting everything and start installing windows form CD, I got BLUE SCREEN right after "WINDOWS FILES LOADING..." finished. it shows me a blue screen and then it will stop
Questions:
1- How can I fix that problem? 2- Is ther way to make a Virtual Machine on my Fedora using my exiting installed windows 7 on my laptop HD?
I have installed CentOS on a VMwareWorktation and that CentOS, i also install VMware Server (suscess) and setup a guest OS that, but i start this Guest OS, an error show "You may not power virtual machine in virtual machine"...
I recently installed VirtualBox 3.1.8 r61349 from the deb file virtualbox- .1_3.1.8-61349~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb onto a recent clean install of Lucid Lynx on my HP p6210f (6144 MB RAM, AMD Athlon II X4 620 CPU). I then imported a friend's VM and tried to boot it. The VM consistently hangs with the following showing on the console (this is the last 3 lines, for context):

I thought initially it was a problem with my friend's VM, so I decided to create a new VM from scratch, and boot from a CentOS-5.4-i386-DVD instead, which I have done before with previous versions of VirtualBox. When I do that, I'm able to select my installation method (so I know it's booting from the CentOS ISO), and then it hangs at exactly the same point. I couldn't find any other mention of this problem, but it's a pretty recent release of VirtualBox - I think just days old.
The VM: OS Type=RedHat (presumed 32-bit), 1 processor, 1024 MB RAM
I have two machines, one has XP service pack2, second one has CentOS 5.3 (Linux), they are connected through crossover cable. I have configured everything fine but don't know why till now can't ping!
A. Windows machine settings as follows:
IP Address: 192.168.1.3 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gatway: 192.168.1.1 + Firewall is turned OFF.
B. For Linux machine, I will list everything stored in network files, logged as [root@localhost ~]# :
I mean I assigned the IP: 192.168.1.4 to Linux machine (Eth0). I did everything above and can't ping till now, when pinging from windows or Linux I get a message "destination host unreachable" restarted Linux many times but same result. NETWORK CABLE is working fine I tested it.
I created an archlinux vm guest using virtualbox on my windows desktop at work. I'm planning to use it for django development because there are no unix machines available to use as a workstation at work.
From the vm guest I can ping/ssh to other machines in the network, but not the other way around. It's like even though the guest machine has an ip address on the network and a hostname, neither is recognizable.
So, i've rebuilded all VirtualBox dependencies with safe flags, then i've recompiled most of the sys-* packages also with safe flags. However VirtualBox still doesn't work.

I was using a Sony laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 installed on the machine. I have just bought a Mac and I will be using Ubuntu 10.04 as my primary development OS by virtualizing it using VirtualBox.Now, my requirement is, I had a near perfect development environment setup on my Ubuntu box and I don't want to install the packages, apps, setting etc again on my VirtualBox VM.
I know there are ways to export apps, setting etc, but is there some app which will actually create a VDI disk for my VirtualBox which, when I plug in to my VirtualBox, I will get the old Ubuntu on my VM.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64bit using Wubi. I had 32 bit installed in a Virtual machine on Windows but I wanted to install it to my harddrive (and wubi was easiest). My goal is to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine running on Ubuntu. The Lenovo machine came with Windows 7 installed, but did not come with a boot disk. What are my options? Should I ask Lenovo for a disk? Will I need to purchase Windows just for the virtual machine?
I have VirtualBox v3.1.0 r55467 running on f12 2.6.31.6-162.fc12.i686. The guest is Windows XP SP3. I need to enable bridged mode for the virtual network interface on the guest. Everytime I enable bridge mode the following error occurs.

I installed Tomcat5.5.23 on CentOS5.2 running on Sun xVM Virtual Box2.1.2. When i try to view Tomcat( Running in Vitual Centos)'s home page in the web browser of Host( XP sp2) am getting the "Connection Time out" error.. How to resolve this problem.
I want to add more than one Virtual IP to my CentOS machine. I was able to add one ver easily by creating a file ifcfg-eth0:1 and editing the IPADDR field. But I cannot create more by creating a ifcfg:eth0:2, for example.
Which virtual machine in Red Hat now pushing (championing)? And is it supported on CentOS yet? Does it support multiple cores in the guest and does it take advantage of hardware visualization?

I've installed CentOS 5.3 on a machine, and I need a Samba version 3.2 or higher. Since 3.4 is out, I thought I'd grab that. But, "yum list|grep samba" gives me only version 3.0.33. Is there a package of Samba I can grab that will upgrade the 3.0 installation so that I don't have two laying around? If not and I need to compile from source, do you have any suggestions for what arguments I should give configure? I'm not used to Linux coming from the BSD world
I am newbie to centos. I am trying to install virtual server in my machine. I have installed the Xen virtual machine monitor which comes with CentOS through add/remove software. Here is the problem, I am unable to open connection with Xen hypervisor. Here is the error i am facing:

I installed the Centos 5.5 with XEN and put 03 virtual machines (Centos 5.5 too). I did this correctly, but I have a problem. In the virtual machine, I need update the kernel. I used "yum update kernel" and this is downloaded correctly and the menu.lst file is updated too, but the kernel not ran. I ran "grub-install /dev/sda" or "grub-install /dev/xvda" and received a error return. I read the device.map file and i ran "grub-install /dev/sde" and received a error return too.
The errors: [root@vm01 ~]# grub-install /dev/sda /dev/sda: Not found or not a block device. [root@vm01 ~]# grub-install /dev/sde /dev/sda1 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive. [root@vm01 ~]# grub-install /dev/xvda /dev/xvda: Not found or not a block device.
I had set up 4 virtual machines on centos 5.5 system where I directed the image locations to an external storage. I have lost the image files in the storage, but I have the image files that were copied from the virtual machine image location. I want to put up the same system on the same computer by copying these backup images. However, when I copy the image file to the same exact location and start the corresponding virtual machine I get "no bootable disk" error. When I increase the size of the image using "qemu-img" commands, I can get rid of this error, but get "error reading disk" error. Is there a way to overcome these problems, or is it not possible to restore a virtual machine by copying the machine image file under ..../xen/images?
