Software :: Missing ISO 9660 Image Error Upgrading From USB
Jul 2, 2011
I have an Intel Core2 Duo system that is currently running the 32-bit version of Fedora 12. I want to upgrade the system to Fedora 14.I downloaded the DVD installation ISO for Fedora 14, and I used unetbootin on an 8 Gigabytes USB flash drive to created a bootable disk from the installation ISO.
When I boot off the USB drive, the installation process will run. I get to a screen concerning the boot loader. I use GRUB to dual boot the system between a Fedora and Windows 7.What is needed to resolve this issue so the installer can proceed properly and perform the upgrade?

I tried compiling linux kernel 2.6.37-rc2 (mainline), Compilation and installation of kernel and modules went fine. After that while trying to make initrd image, I used the following command :-
mohitdhingras@mohitdhingras-laptop:~$ sudo mkinitramfs -o initrd.img-2.6.37-rc2 2.6.37-rc2
It is showing warnings like :-
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/2.6.37-rc2/radeon/RV610_me.bin for module radeon
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/2.6.37-rc2/radeon/RV610_pfp.bin for module radeon

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/2.6.37-rc2/radeon/R600_pfp.bin for module radeon
Actually, "2.6.37-rc2" folder is missing in "firmware".

i have installed Ubuntu desktop 10.04.1 just few hours back, and now when i am updating my OS, i have notice that Ubuntu download linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic first (31.5MB) and then immediately after that it is downloading linux-image-2.6.32-27-generic (31.7MB). why it require two linux images? if linux 2.6.32-27 is latest one, then why linux 2.6.32-24 is downloaded, it could saved internet bandwidth and installation time.

I have lost the option to boot Microsoft vista after upgrading to ubuntu 10.04 and need help getting the vista boot option back so that I can use Vista once again. I'm not sure what version of ubuntu I was using previously, but I just followed a prompt in the previous version of ubuntu to update to 10.04. I can still access my documents in vista from ubuntu, which I assume means that I have not lost vista? After reading these forums I have done the following things: I have updated grub, but I don't think vista was detected. Results are pasted below:
[CODE]
ray@ray-laptop:~$ sudo update-grub
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub
Searching for default file ... found: /boot/grub/default
Testing for an existing GRUB menu.lst file ... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst

I installed 64-bit Fedora 12, and everything was working fine. I upgraded a bunch of packages (including, but not limited to, X and Gnome) via yum, and now I'm unable to access virtual consoles. X works fine, but Ctrl-Alt-F2, etc. leads me to a black screen.
How do I get my virtual consoles back?

Added the following line to sources.list:
deb [URL] squeeze main non-free
After that I did an update and upgrade.
The following packages were kept back : ffmpeg libavcodec52 libavdevice52 libavformat52 libcairo2 libpostproc51 libswscale0 mplayer ( libcairo2 is on hold ).
To overcome this I did: apt-get install mplayer
The following extra packages will be installed:
liba52-0.7.4 libartsc0 libbs2b0 libdirac-decoder0 libfaac0 libggi2 libggiwmh0 libgii1
libmp3lame0 libopencore-amrnb0 libopencore-amrwb0 libvdpau1 libx264-104 libxvidcore4
It ends like: Unpacking replacement mplayer ...

Next thing I tried : apt-get dist-upgrade:

The following NEW packages will be installed:

The following packages have been kept back:

I just upgraded a F9 to F11 using the network install. After the successful install message, I rebooted to find the boot stuck on a grub prompt. After determining that somehow grub had not been installed properly, I used the rescue mode to re-install grub. When I then rebooted, I saw a blank (black) screen during the rhgb sequence, with just the multicolor progress bar moving from left to right. As the bar reached the right side, the standard F11 login screen appeared. The system is an old Omnibook 8000 laptop. Here is my grub.conf
Code:

I have two different ways to print to my HPOfficejet Pro 8500. They look like two different printers to the software.
When I attempt to print a PDF file one of these prints a mirror image; the other cuts approximately 1/2 inch from the top of the page.
OpenOffice.org files appear to print without problems.
I have openSUSE 11.2 and HPLIP 3.9.8

Okay, so bear with me for the lack of detail, its 3:46am and I'm really a beginner at this. So here is my issue: I decided I wanted to try Linux, so i got a Disc Image of Opensuse 11.3. while burning this disc image to a DVD-R I had no issues. But after the Validation was done an error appeared stating the disc Image was not burnt due to some error (apologies for not paying too close attention here) although the entire burn completed without issue. So I closed it and figured I would try again with another Disk when i get one.
Well as it turns out I did burn the Disc Image, and decided to try the Install. I have previously installed Ubuntu a few times and figured it was just as easy.. so I restarted my computer and booted from the CD. went through the Installation up to the Partition part.. This kind of confused me at first but I eventually got that it wanted to shrink my existing windows partition in order to make room. so i went along with it and began the install. well about halfway through the installation error messages kept showing telling me there were missing Packs. after about 10 messages I aborted the install for fear of what would happen now i have a shrunken partition and i dont know how to fix or what to do. I would still like to install opensuse but i dont have anymore DVD-R's and my Flash drive is too small. I will try to provide any info i can upon request. Oh, I forgot to mention im Running windows 7. if that helps at all which I doubt it does. I can safely access windows, nothing happened to the information on my drive. Im just missing 50GB of space now.

I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.

I'm currently upgrading from ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 (I installed my ubuntu using the windows ubuntu installer, wubi, a few months ago). I started the update manager to upgrade, and everything was going fine until it started installing the upgrades, more specifically when it got to "Preparing memtest86+", when it started continuously saying in the terminal "Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-22-generic". It's been stuck at "About 43 minutes remaining" for about half an hour. I've included a screenshot of my computer in the state it is in as I type this message.

I want to upgrade my 32bit Fedora from 11 to 13 version. I tried both options: via preupgrade tool and via installation media (DVD). Both options failed with following Anaconda error at the beginning of installation process:
RpmUtilsError: RPM Error opening Package
In my case, the problem was in package:
/mnt/sysimage/var/cache/yum/anaconda-InstallationRepo-xxx.i386/packages/fontpackages-filesystem-1.44-1.fc13.noarch.rpm.
I switched to terminal, and discovered that size of this file is 0.
I downloaded installation DVD from official torrent, so checksum was autmatically checked. Verification test at the beginnig of installation was also successfully passed. So media is OK. Moreover, I also tried to upgrade via preupgrade tool with the same results.
I found similar bug with unclear status in Fedora Bug Tracking system for Anaconda in F12: [URL]

I first ran the release upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04, which ran really smoothely without errors and at the end prompted a reboot. I have rebooted and decided to upgrade further - 9.04 to 9.10. I'm currently running VB 3.0.10 on Fedora 12 64 bit.
When I attempt to upgrade my current install to 3.1 I get the following:
I am somewhat puzzled as this is a upgrade from a stable installed version. I have confirmed I have libcrypto.so.8 . . . from what I can tell its part of the openssl package but I've got the most current so I don't know how to obtain the libcrypto.so.10 file to correct this issue.
