Jul 2, 2011I have an Intel Core2 Duo system that is currently running the 32-bit version of Fedora 12. I want to upgrade the system to Fedora 14.I downloaded the DVD installation ISO for Fedora 14, and I used unetbootin on an 8 Gigabytes USB flash drive to created a bootable disk from the installation ISO.
When I boot off the USB drive, the installation process will run. I get to a screen concerning the boot loader. I use GRUB to dual boot the system between a Fedora and Windows 7.What is needed to resolve this issue so the installer can proceed properly and perform the upgrade?

Dec 30, 2009i have fedora12 and have been noticing that on a few programs (xvidcap, nALFS; just to name a couple) anyways these programs when i go to install they will come up with a missing dependency error and so i'll go hunt them down and install them and i am told that they are already installed...so what is the deal...any ideas. should i just go for a reinstall of the whole system?

Feb 12, 2010My previous setup was Windows Vista on partition 1, Windows 7 on partition 2, and my recovery partition on partition 3. I'm trying to switch from vista to fedora (cuz I hate vista), so I removed partition 1 and 3, expanded partition 2 a bit (from 80 gig to 150), and moved it all the way to the left with gparted. This gave me a 150g partition labled sda2 as my first partition. I then installed fedora on the (about) 150g of free space. After going into fedora, I used fdisk /dev/sda with menu option f to fix my partition labels. Now I have Windows 7 on partition sda1, fedora's boot on sda2, and fedora on a logical volume in sda3.
My issue is that I have that same old error bootmgr is missing when I try to boot to windows 7. I checked my grub menu, my fdisk, it all looks good to me, so hopefully someone can help me out. If I'm unable to do this without reformatting, could someone please advise me on a program to clone my windows 7? I have a lot of expensive programs on there that I could, in theory, go back to the manufacturer and request a new copy, but I doubt if I even have any license keys written down and I don't know where they would be, so hopefully I can pull them all off and have them work on a new install. Dec 4, 2008I have been installing Fedora 8 Linux with already having Windows Xp as my primary OS....
I have a total of 80GB Hard disk.Out of 80 GB,I have freed 8GB for Linux.But during Installation after "selecting language for keyboard" and then choosing "Create Custom Layout", while giving partitions I have alotted 4GB for '/' and 2GB for Swap.
Initially space was created for root(/)...but it is unable to create space for swap and all other boot,home etc...
It is showing the error msg as "Could not create partition as there is no space left for /(root)"...

Jul 2, 2009Last night I let the automatic updating of packages ran on my Fedora 10 installation. It has been a few months since I ran the updating and so it took quite long. I did not monitor it closely so I am not sure which packages were updated. After the update was completed, when I restarted my computer it halted during the boot up process at the point when it was trying to mount the root file system. The error message is "mount: missing mount point".
I booted the computer using the F10 DVD and used the rescue mode to look into the /boot directory. The kernel that was booting by default was 2.6.27.25-170.2.72.fc10.x86_64.There were two older F10 kernels in /boot and so I tried booting with them. The boot process went further but I was still not able to boot up F10 successfully. There were many error messages about not being able to touch files in /var/lock/subsys as it is a read-only file system.

Feb 13, 2010In KDE I have no System Notifications, Kaffiene, Amarok2, Amarok and Xine immediately exit when opened without an error. If I try to open the System Settings/Multimedia or System Settings/Notifications control panels they also exit without an error. I have audio in other applications, MPlayer, Skype, VLC, Songbird, etc., as well as from the Konsole. I've tested Konsole audio using the published guidelines in the Audio HowTo, 'speaker-test' works fine for all users. In Yast2 I can configure and test the audio card without errors, but I am not able to get USB headphones working. I have been through the 'Check your multimedia problem in ten steps'. There are no errors or missing dependencies showing up. I've booted from the 11.2 Live CD and everything worked fine including KDE Notifications and application audio. I've tried deleting my .kde4 profile, this didn't fix the problem, and application and control panel behaviour remained the same with a clean profile.

Debian Installation :: Bzcat Missing On Netinst Error
Aug 28, 2014Using the mini.iso netinst image, when installing the the base system I get the following error:
Debootstrap error, the following error occurred: bzcat is not available on the system. Check vt4 for details, etc, etc.
Usually I have no issue at all installing a barebones sid system, but over the last week I've had the same error over and over.
The issue appears to of been resolved. I guess something server side was tweaked.

Oct 26, 2010I have been spending several days getting wxwidgets to work in code::blocks ide on several different platforms. Now I am down to one instance that I can't figure out. I have wxwidgets working in Fedora 13 x64, but cannot get it to work in a Fedora 13 x32 version. Actually, wxwidgets seem to be installed OK, but I run into compiler errors when I try to compile the default wxhello project. I get quite a few messages, in different header files, of this type:

I did a yum info command on both systems for every relevant package I could think of, including gcc(v4.4.4), gcc-c++(4.4.4), libgcc(4.4.4), libstdc++(4.4.4), boost(1.41.0), wxGTK(2.8.11), wxBase(2.8.11). Both systems are fully updated and have the same versions, with the only difference being 32 vs 64 bit. The same headers compile with no errors on the x64 system, but not x32. I have been able to find no other reason for this error than older versions of the preprocessor, yet that is apparently not the case here).
