I got Linux just because I could run ardour. But now that I it I dont know how to use it or make it work at all. I am currently running my recording with a bass pedal that supports recording. I did get a crappy recording on the defalut sound recorder but I dont know what kind of settings I need on Ardour to make it work. The audio codec that the pedal sends as or whatever is PCM2904 Audio Codec Analog Stereo.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Audacity to record from a line in. Seems like it should be a fairly easy setup. I discovered that Audacity needs PulseAudio. So I installed that, and don't know how to configure it. I set the sound preferences >> Input to line in. I am using a desktop that has a line-in on the front and back, so I'm not sure which it will pick up, so I have been testing both.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't run Ardour GTK2 in Ubuntu 10.04. JACK control is open, but sends error messages relating to not being able to connect to the JACK server whenever I try to press play.
Ardour says JACK is running in another user's profile, and I haven't even made it to the program yet. Error message also says audio controls could be messed up.
I installed ardour on my F11 box, and both jack1 (0.xx, in /usr/bin) and jack2( 1.9.5, in /usr/local/bin/). Now when I try to start ardour, it balks about being unable to start jack. On the ardour settings page, I tried changing the JACK server path field from /usr/local/bin to /usr/bin, to no avail.
On the cmdline, here's what I get when I run, manually jack1 and jack2:

That prompts me to think that JACK1 is fine... but still ardour won't start up.
I recently changed my system from Ubuntu/Suse to Fedora14. Starting Ardour2 or Ardour3 (both build from SVN) or Ardour from the Repo-Package I get this:

Ardours Dev Paul Davis thinks, this is an issue with libxml2 but upgrading libxml2 and even downgrading it did not work either. With the fresh install of Fed14 2 weeks ago the Package from the repo did work very much OK. is there anything I can do?
i've recently bought a new set of headphones, since the ones i had were really cheap and only lasted for like 3 months, now i have new ones, not really that good but not as cheap as the old ones xD anyway I've noticed this ones have more bass, therefore the sound is low, is there a way i can adjust this? i know the bass is from the headphones because they sound the same on my window$ machine

I have no experience compiling python. I would not like to install from a package as the one with ubuntu is wrongly compiled and so are many others which are hosted I have heard the only way to make the problems with packaged versions stop is by compiling ardour yourself so I would still like to go ahead with it.
After the last -current update, I couldn't launch ardour (with the SLV2 support). I obtained the following error:

Ok, I have windows and ubuntu, on ubuntu bass is working but on windows it's not, so on windows I listen to music from iPod instead, but is there anyway to fix it. I use iTunes player on windows and the equalizer there wont put the bass on too like it is on ubuntu and iPod.

The surround speakers are operating fine. I know that the bass unit itself is working because I was using it with windows on this computer before I made the switch to Ubuntu. If I run a speaker test from either the sound preferences or the terminal, the speakers work but the bass does not. I ran this command from a terminal to help with the diagnostic effort, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at:

I am running Karmic 64bit on a frankenstein desktop. I am using an old Creative Soundblaster card with the live drive front panel. Ever since I started using Karmic I have lost many functions, there are no bass and treble controls, and no other controls other than volume and balance. Am I missing some vital drivers?

I cannot find an option which allows redirection of the lower frequencies (from front, back and center channels) to the sub woofer (LFE channel). I use ubuntu 9.10 and my pulseaudio version is 0.9.19. The player I use most is SMPlayer (version 0.6.8 (SVN r3213)) and AC3-liba52 for AC3 decoding. My system is up to date.
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday. I have an audigy2 sound card on my system. But did not see tone control such as bass and treble slide in mixer. When I run alsamixer at terminal window i got these controls but alsamixer does not control my sound card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my sound in the Natty Narwhal version of Ubuntu, where my bass doesn't seem to be working and is coming out as fuzz instead. I don't really know the technical terms for what I'm trying to describe, but instead of the deep part of a piece of music, I get this kind of v sound in the background instead. I get the same problem on headphones or from the speakers, and turning the volume up or down doesn't make any difference. Alsamixer tells me that my card is called HDA Intel, chip ALC272X. I've already tried turning down the PCA volume, as I've seen recommended in other places, but no luck.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like your input please. I'm using an HP DV7 laptop and the sound works under Opensuse 11.2 but without base. I have therefore updated ALSA to version 1.0.22.1 to make use of the introduced base switch for DV7 (ALSA changelog here)
I have tried these ALSA options but without any change / improvement to the base sound.
options snd-hda-intel=hp-dv5 and also hp-dv7 and hp_dv7
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
Any ideas?
The second line stops the sound from "stuttering" but the first seem to have no effect.
I need to have some tool to do mixer settings/geo analyser of sound to add bass/treble to the sound output from Ubuntu 10.10.

Recently installed Ubuntu 9.1 following an easy how to. The install session went really well, smooth and only had one little speed bump when deciding which drive to install to (running raid and did not want to loose other partition). Like most speed bumps I got passed it. Ran all the updates then decided to start listening to music with Rythmbox Music Player. The sound coming out of my Klipsch Pro Media 4.1 was muffled and sounded like just the subwoofer was on. I checked all connections and they were fine. I tried looking for equalizer but did not find it and then noticed the sound was like a skipping record. So I looked it up and came across some posts that I could not figure out if they were for my problem. Seemed to me they were just leading me in circles.

I ended up setting up a basic linux file server as a pdc for that office. Our main office is a windows 2000 ads domain. The two offices are connected with a vpn. I only have two users at the new location so I simply have the linux and samba usernames/passwords setup manually. I would like to know if it is possible to setup a domain trust between the two sites so I don't have to create a username/password in the remote site for every user at the main office to access. I did some searching but came up empty.

Everything goes fine untill the ant setup and then running the setup-prerequisites...file (don't remember the exact name).
As soon as i issue ant install.source it ends up with some errors..
So I didn't notice when I setup my CentOS 5.5 server that I left / as RAID 0 on md1. All the rest are RAID 1. Is there a way I can modify the array to RAID 1 without a risk of data loss? I'm glad I caught this before I setup any other services. I've only setup smb so far...

Im trying to setup multiple domU through the default bridge setup. I am able to access only one of them through the network at a time. If you ping one of the domU it works perfectly but you cannot ping any of the others until you stop pinging the one and even then it takes a bit before you can. Ive looked around for a while and seen similar problems but nothing ever seems quite the same. Im probably missing something really stupid. Or is this the way the bridge is supposed to behave? Do i need to use a routed virtual network?

I want to setup a FAI server for which I was looking for the best method of mirroring the Debian Lenny. I want to setup a local mirror with the best method available for mirroring. If it is ftpsync, please provide me some best ways of doing it. I tried ftpsync mirroring but that was not getting properly working due to insufficient I want this mirror to be accessible in my FAI setup so that I can start the installation on multiple machines and start the updates and package installation to be done from the same local mirror.
