OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Ardour-vst Complaining, Missing FFTW3 Headers?
Dec 30, 2009
I'm trying to compile Ardour 2.8.4 under openSUSE 11.2 with VST support. I think I've installed all the dependencies, but when I run scons I come up with this:
Code:

I have been running f13 ever since it was released. Evidently the kmod-rt2870 rpms are never deleted when older kernels are removed. When I tried to do today's update the Package Manager and yum complained that some of the older kmod-rt2870 packages left over from fedora 12 were missing kernel dependencies. The kernels have been missing for a long time. I don't know why the package manager started complaining today.
I tried
1) yum clean all
2 rpm --rebuilddb
3) removed the /lib/modules directory corresponding to the old kernels
and the problem persisted.
I finally removed all of the kmod-rt2870 rpms what where originally installed in fedora 12 and I was finally able to complete the update. Why did the package manager suddenly start complaining about the missing kernels?

I am using Opensuse 11.2 on an HP Pavilion laptop. The internal wireless (Broadcom device) quit on me - It is no longer detected at boot so I assume it is dead. No problem since I have a D_Link USB adaptor (DWL-G132). To get it working however I need ndiswrapper. I then installed ndiswrapper 1.55 and the user interface supplied with Opensuse. Problem1- The interface says "The program 'kernel-headers' is missing on your system".
I have checked with Yast and the kernel-headers are installed. Problem2- I have downloaded ndiswrapper 1.55 from Sourceforge.net to attempt the traditional installation method. The 'make' command returns the following message: "Cannot find kernel version in /lib/modules/2.6.31.8-0.1-desktop/build, is it configured?."

I can't run Ardour GTK2 in Ubuntu 10.04. JACK control is open, but sends error messages relating to not being able to connect to the JACK server whenever I try to press play.
Ardour says JACK is running in another user's profile, and I haven't even made it to the program yet. Error message also says audio controls could be messed up.

I was trying to compile the driver for my wireless device and stumbled upon the 'missing kernel headers' error. Found the kernel header somewhere on the internet, named kernel.lzm. If I boot Backtrack 3 directly from the cd and not installing it, how do I use the kernel header? Do I need to install it, place it somewhere or just load it?

Here's my problem: I'm running a Lenny laptop and I need both wifi and virtualbox to work. I had to do a kernel upgrade to run the wifi. It works with either the 2.6.29 or 2.6.30 kernels, but with 2.6.30 I'm having screen brightness issues that I can't seem to get rid of. So I want to run 2.6.29, but virtualbox is a bit of a problem because it requires linux-headers-2.6.29, but when I try to install the amd64 headers it tells me that it cannot install the dependency linux-kbuild-2.6.29. Is there any way I can get that dependency installed on my computer?

The problem is that I need to use kernel headers like <linux/interrupt.h>. However, those files do not exist in folder /usr/include/linux. Thus, compilation fails. On the other hand, the files exist in folder /usr/src/kernels/2.6.30.10-105.2.4.fc11.i586/include/linux.
How can I get the missing headers into proper place in /usr/include/? I even tried coping, but extra files are then needed and so on.
I tried to use "make menuconfig", but I couldn't see a missing configuration I need.
I also tried to use " yum install kernel-devel". This tells me "Package kernel-devel 2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i586 already installed and latest version Nothing to do".

I Recently set up a dedicated server using CentOS as a new Linux wing of my Web services hosting business. To provision online varios Tucows services (names, blogs etc.) I need to use the Perl API provided by Tucows/OpenSRS. The API requires various extra perl modules including XML::Parser - without which the API will not function.
I was able to add with PPM to my Windows servers no problem but it will not install in CentOS.
As best I can tell the cause may be missing headers and libs for the c compile of Expat - required to build XML::Parser so after days of hunting I found your repository holds package expat-devel which claims to hold libs and headers for Expat similar to libexpat1-dev on other dists. I used YUM with success but although 3 libs were installed no headers were installed.
Is there a reason these headers are not included? I have downloaded them manually but am afraid of breaking something. Is there a reason I should not attempt to install with these headers? Is CentOS capable of using the Parser modules?

But then the upcoming dialog-box of module-assistant telling me, that the kernel-headers are not installed and therefore installation of tp_smapi fails.

I have installed codecs but I still can't write audio cd's out of my mp3's. When I start k3b it warns about missing MAD, but after searching for MAD I could only install libmad0 and there is no luck with that. In suse community site it says something about installing from packman. But this only adds kde3-k3b and I dont want that. Is there anything I can do to use mp3 with my kde4-k3b?

I have a problem with playing DVD. I have followed instructions given in Check your multimedia problem in ten steps but I'm still experiencing problems with some DVDs. Output of commands suggested in above post are listed at the end of this post. On thing I noticed was that for below packages I had to choose an older version from openSUSE repo because of the installed version of gstreamer*plugins*base.

There are some sites who are for example U.S.-only...Using Windows and Firefox, it often helped to just install Modify Headers, set it up correctly and you're done (it changes your ip-address you show to a website) Using a proxy really slows your connection down, but the app didn't.Is there an app for Iceweasel pretty the same, or at least one being able to do the same?

I would like to include BPM data in all my id3 headers. I can do this one song at a time with banshee, but I have lots of songs, and it would take a very long time. In this thread I read about bmpdj and I am attempting to install this from source. I run into problems with the make command which gives me:
Code:

[uic] ui-bpmmerge.h
[uic] ui-capacity.h
[uic] ui-clustering.h
[uic] ui-freq-mapping.h
[uic] ui-importing.h .....

In KDE I have no System Notifications, Kaffiene, Amarok2, Amarok and Xine immediately exit when opened without an error. If I try to open the System Settings/Multimedia or System Settings/Notifications control panels they also exit without an error. I have audio in other applications, MPlayer, Skype, VLC, Songbird, etc., as well as from the Konsole. I've tested Konsole audio using the published guidelines in the Audio HowTo, 'speaker-test' works fine for all users. In Yast2 I can configure and test the audio card without errors, but I am not able to get USB headphones working. I have been through the 'Check your multimedia problem in ten steps'. There are no errors or missing dependencies showing up. I've booted from the 11.2 Live CD and everything worked fine including KDE Notifications and application audio. I've tried deleting my .kde4 profile, this didn't fix the problem, and application and control panel behaviour remained the same with a clean profile.

I have 11.2 installed on a dual core 64 bit system. The sound works when I use Yast to look at the sound device and select "play test sound". I haven't gotten anything out of Amarok or SMPlayer. I followed the guide listed in other posts to update the system although I could not seem to solve all the dependences. When I use SMPlayer to play an MP3 file, I get a message saying that I am missing libdirectfb-1.1.so.0
I tried the following: Code: ldd /usr/bin/mplayer | grep libdirect libdirectfb-1.1.so.0 => not found This seems to be the only missing library. The interesting thing is that if I search my system for libdirect, I find that I have libdirectfb-1.2.so.0. Is this a newer rev or a different library because of my platform?

few days ago I upgraded amarok on my openSuSE 11.2 from amarok-2.3.1-1 to amarok-2.3.1-4 (with vendor change to OBS KDE:Backports obs://build.opensuse.org/KDE).Then I noticed that the lastfm service is not functioning. It was missing from the internet services as well. As if the plugin does not exist. Taking a look at the /usr/share/kde4/services I did not find any .desktop file that was referring to the lastfm service (as I found for magnitude or the other internet services in amarok). So I downgraded to 2.3.1-1 (vendor obs://build.opensuse.org/home:enzokiel).
After the downgrade I had the .desktop files, but still the lastfm plugin was not loaded. I checked the liblastfm and it was there:liblastfm.so -> liblastfm.so.0.3.1***ALAS*** it was the 0.3.1, not the 0.3.0 as it was required by the dependencies.A workaround I thought is to just make a symbolic link to the 0.3.1 with the name 0.3.0. So I did. And it worked. What didn't work is that when I upgraded back to amarok 2.3.1-4 the desktop files were still missing and so was the lastfm plugin from amarok internet services.
I share this for the following reasons:
1. Maybe other people have encountered the same problem, and this could save them time/effort
2. I don't know if I should open a bug report against this, or it is just a matter of how the package was compiled. I don't want to waste developer's time by investigating something that is not a bug, but a feature.__2a. I think this is an openSuSE specific problem, that is why I am posting it here.
3. Would the correct solution be a downgrade of both the liblastfm and amarok?
