Missing ifcfg-eth[2-5] fileset for ZNYX 345Q Quad Port 10/100 cards. I have showing in the gui network device that my ports for my ZNYX ZX345Q Quad Port card my ports are Auto eth2, Auto eth3 etc. My Motherboard and Intel cards show as System eth0 and System eth1.
There ARE corresponding entries for those in my /etc/sysconfig/network-settings/ directory, but there are not ifcfg-eth[2-5] files to correspond to these adapters. Can I just write my own files and that will do it?
How does Fedora 12/13 load these drivers into the kernel without having these ifcfg files?
I'd love to know if there is another way Fedora controls NICs / other system resources.
I'm running fedora 12 on my Asus Z92VA laptop. Everything is running fine, except for the fact that I have no audio on my headphone. When I use the command "alsamixer -c0", there is no listing for the headphone.
When I use the command "cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec" I get the following output:
Codec: Realtek ALC880
Codec: Conexant ID 2bfa
alsamixer doesn't change the real sound volume of my USB sound card (though the dials move okay)

sound on laptop running linux mint 9 isadora after restarting or if computer is idle. when the computer is idle for a while the sound will stop working even though it doesn't show muted. after restarting i have to run alsamixer and the master tab will be muted. i can unmute and it will work until the computer sits idle for a while.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI used ubuntu and recently I install mandriva in to my laptop. I am using a headphone and when I listening to music I reduce speaker sounds and increase headphone and master sounds using "alsamiser -c 0" command in terminal. But at the end of each song, speaker sounds automatically increased.so I have to increase the headphone and master sound and reduce speaker sounds at beginning of every song.
When I restart the machine master, speaker and headphone sounds usualy become silence. Is there any why to save the alsamixer settings or any other way to correct this error.

i've recently bought a new set of headphones, since the ones i had were really cheap and only lasted for like 3 months, now i have new ones, not really that good but not as cheap as the old ones xD anyway I've noticed this ones have more bass, therefore the sound is low, is there a way i can adjust this? i know the bass is from the headphones because they sound the same on my window$ machine
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, I have windows and ubuntu, on ubuntu bass is working but on windows it's not, so on windows I listen to music from iPod instead, but is there anyway to fix it. I use iTunes player on windows and the equalizer there wont put the bass on too like it is on ubuntu and iPod.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Ubuntu, but have some experience with *NIX (specifically Red Hat and AIX.) I'm not getting any bass out of my 4.1 Logitech THX setup. The surround speakers are operating fine. I know that the bass unit itself is working because I was using it with windows on this computer before I made the switch to Ubuntu. If I run a speaker test from either the sound preferences or the terminal, the speakers work but the bass does not. I ran this command from a terminal to help with the diagnostic effort, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at:
Code:
wget [URL] -O alsa-info.sh && bash alsa-info.sh
Here is the output of the above command: [URL]
I have been searching for an answer to this question for some time now and can't see to find the relevant information anywhere.
I am running Karmic 64bit on a frankenstein desktop. I am using an old Creative Soundblaster card with the live drive front panel. Ever since I started using Karmic I have lost many functions, there are no bass and treble controls, and no other controls other than volume and balance. Am I missing some vital drivers?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I decode an audio clip which contain 5.1 streams (the encoding doesn't matter - or does it?) I cannot find an option which allows redirection of the lower frequencies (from front, back and center channels) to the sub woofer (LFE channel). I understand that this perfectly normal and this is how 5.1 supposed to work. My problem is that my speakers are not full range, so they cannot reproduce the bass in the streams. What I want to know is if there is a way to do something like this: [URL]
Which is described as: Bass redir - Bass redirection. Route basses from all channels to subwoofer. Works only if it is subwoofer at output speakers. Highly recommended for systems with separate subwoofer. Basses are routed before mixing so basses are shown at LFE input level (although 'real' LFE may be absent).
I'm aware of the enable-lfe-remixing = yes option. It works fine for stereo, but not for 5.1
I use ubuntu 9.10 and my pulseaudio version is 0.9.19. The player I use most is SMPlayer (version 0.6.8 (SVN r3213)) and AC3-liba52 for AC3 decoding. My system is up to date.
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday. I have an audigy2 sound card on my system. But did not see tone control such as bass and treble slide in mixer. When I run alsamixer at terminal window i got these controls but alsamixer does not control my sound card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my sound in the Natty Narwhal version of Ubuntu, where my bass doesn't seem to be working and is coming out as fuzz instead. I don't really know the technical terms for what I'm trying to describe, but instead of the deep part of a piece of music, I get this kind of v sound in the background instead. I get the same problem on headphones or from the speakers, and turning the volume up or down doesn't make any difference. Alsamixer tells me that my card is called HDA Intel, chip ALC272X. I've already tried turning down the PCA volume, as I've seen recommended in other places, but no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got Linux just because I could run ardour. But now that I it I dont know how to use it or make it work at all. I am currently running my recording with a bass pedal that supports recording. I did get a crappy recording on the defalut sound recorder but I dont know what kind of settings I need on Ardour to make it work. The audio codec that the pedal sends as or whatever is PCM2904 Audio Codec Analog Stereo.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would like your input please. I'm using an HP DV7 laptop and the sound works under Opensuse 11.2 but without base. I have therefore updated ALSA to version 1.0.22.1 to make use of the introduced base switch for DV7 (ALSA changelog here)
I have tried these ALSA options but without any change / improvement to the base sound.
options snd-hda-intel=hp-dv5 and also hp-dv7 and hp_dv7
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
Any ideas?
The second line stops the sound from "stuttering" but the first seem to have no effect.
I need to have some tool to do mixer settings/geo analyser of sound to add bass/treble to the sound output from Ubuntu 10.10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an on mobo sound 'card' with an ordinary stereo jack that I use, but one of my graphics cards (Raedon) also has sound built into it. I don't use that, because the connector is some new thingie that I don't need or want.
Anyway, every other distro sees the two sound devices and automaticaly picks the right one and uses it with no trouble. (One distro, can't remember if it was fedora ... asked me to pick the device I wanted, but there was no trouble after that). It seems that with Slack, alsaconf, tho it lets me pick the right card, doesn't send that choice to alsamixer, so that the latter tries to unmute the wrong card.
'alsamixer -c 1'
fixes everything. This looks like a bug to me, but it also looks like it would be very easy to fix by just telling alsaconf to tell alsamixer which card to unmute, as seems to be done in other distros.
I set alsamixer every time after login. I also did alsactl store but it doesn't work.
How to get rid of that?
Each time I boot into Ubuntu I have to mute the External Speaker within Alsamixer GUI in order to get sound.I have made several attempts to save this setting but without success
Also read numerous threads and google search tips but no matter what I try it still results in having to open Alsamixer and manually mute the setting each time I launch Ubuntu.
OS: Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition Computer: Laptop Acer Aspire Timeline X 4820TG Sound Card: don't know (how/where to check?) Software tried: totem, vlc, rhythmbox (does not depend on software) Output: headset and speakers (does not depend on output) The problem: Bass cannot be heard, and "part" of the music plays with a small delay ("offbeat") with respect to the "rest". Note: I have it dual-boot with Windows 7, where the audio works without problems.
this is the first question I post. I hope this information is specific enough,
Recently installed Ubuntu 9.1 following an easy how to. The install session went really well, smooth and only had one little speed bump when deciding which drive to install to (running raid and did not want to loose other partition). Like most speed bumps I got passed it. Ran all the updates then decided to start listening to music with Rythmbox Music Player. The sound coming out of my Klipsch Pro Media 4.1 was muffled and sounded like just the subwoofer was on. I checked all connections and they were fine. I tried looking for equalizer but did not find it and then noticed the sound was like a skipping record. So I looked it up and came across some posts that I could not figure out if they were for my problem. Seemed to me they were just leading me in circles.

Because I am trying to use skype, I try to record my voice with a microphone.
I am working in FC12.

This is pretty simple. I want to know if there is a way to save my settings in alsamixer. I hate having to have to access alsamixer everytime I boot my computer.

I tried to use sudo alsa ctl store but nothing change...Maybe there is another way for to set "input so" to "Int mic" by default.Im using Ubuntu 9.10 desktop 32 bit.
I use a Toshiba L300 Laptop and an Acer Aspire Netbook. After recent upgrades to Lucid I have to use the terminal to access alsamixer and turn up the sound on both when I boot-up. I have to do this every-time I boot up as it doesn't remember the change.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy probelem is with alsamixer. I can't record anything; nothing I play back hasany sound. I have alsamixer capture set on mix. I know I recordedin the past with this setting, so I don't know what is happening. I amrecording from the internet. When I adjust the volume on playback in either alsamixer or kmix thevolume settings change on the other as well. when I adjust thevolume setting in capture it doesn't affect each other. If I have Kmix > inpur > capture enabled I can record, but the playbackdoesn't sound good. I would like to figure what is wrong with alsamixer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't believe I'm still struggling with this sound problem. But I haven't given up and have no reason to do so. So I been playing around with alsamixer and noticed that everything had a option except the PCM section. See here for pic... So if anyone has any solutions to add to my hunt to fix this.
