Software :: Firefox And Wine Silently Fail To Open - Where Do Find An Error Report
Jul 30, 2009
Firefox 3.1 beta 3 won't load. When I open the application, the little bouncy icon bounces, and the task manager shows "Firefox Web Browser", but this only stays this way for about 15 seconds then just goes away. No error or anything.
I've had this identical problem when I try to open certain programs with Wine too. Is there some place I can find a detailed error report on these failures?
Today I upgraded my 10.10 to 11.04. Since the last step of upgrading, when it was restarted, I get stucked in consola where it is checking, and there is written fail at stopping automatic crash report generation. How can I repair it. I tried to do
At work, I use MS Outlook 2007 via CrossOver (Wine). All of my links from Outlook (and probably all other crossover apps) open a new Firefox window instead of a new tab in Firefox. Links in native apps do not work this way.
I'm a satisfied user of ubuntu 11.04 64bit (installed on a laptop). Everything works fine (unity, sound etc) no problems at all except that when I shutdown my computer on of the services is marked as FAIL.
In a boot log I found: * Stopping automatic crash report generation[74G[[31mfail[39;49m] Ok updating, nothing serious, can be ignored or uninstalled.
Recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 (I think) on my laptop as a dual boot with windows. Now, whenever I start my computer, the grub menu boots and I choose to run the generic ubuntu.
However, I get the message: Stopping Automatic Crash Report Generation [FAIL]
And the screen freezes at that. No further progress is made and I have to restart my computer. The only way I can run ubuntu is by running it in safe mode with low graphics.
I have two computers one with Ubuntu Server (just for fun) and another with Ubuntu Desktop. I connected them with one LAN cable so there is no internet and what I want is to open firefox in Ubuntu Desktop and view the apache test page but I can't find IP address, ifconfig just displays the ipv6 one?
I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 with a Laserjet 5M printer. When I attempt to print a job from Firefox or from Okular, the job never gets onto the print queue. However, I can print test pages on the printer and also print from OpenOffice, so this seems to be app-dependent. I know the jobs aren't being queued because the job number doesn't increase (as shown by the jobs for the test pages). Both Firefox and Ocular give every indication that the print job has been processed correctly.
i am wanting to use Firefox to connect to my smb shares. However, i keep getting this error message: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (smb) isn't associated with any program. My client configuration is as follows: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.8pre) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Shiretoko/3.5.8preI tried the instructions below to try and fix the problem with no success: Quote: From [URL]
Linux with Firefox In order to connect to a network share directly from you browser under Linux, you must configure Firefox to handle URL's starting with "smb://". This is done by typing "about:config" in the address line and hitting return. After that you must right-click the list of settings and choose "New -> Boolean" as shown below.
As name you must type: "network.protocol-handler.external.smb" with a value of "true". After that you must do the same thing over again, but this time choose "New -> String", type the name: "network.protocol-handler.app.smb" with a value of the path to the application you wish to use for browsing network shares. If you use KDE, this will typically be "/usr/bin/konqueror".
I am on 11.04. Firefox suddenly stopped working after reboot. I get the error message as shown in the enclosed screen shot. Have gone in to Synaptic Package Manager to remove FF and reinstall, but I still get the same messages.
So I just installed 32-bit Squeeze. I've done exactly two things since booting into the first install: pt-get install gtk+2.0, and ./firefox, so unless gtk did something, this might be an easily fixable problem with Debian itself. After installing gtk and trying to run firefox via command line, it tells me
Code: Error: cannot open display: :0 I googled a bit and couldn't come up with a solid solution, but the problem seems to be around other places. Any idea how to fix this?
I am using awstats for my website report . but last 3 days i am not using awstats . now i check awstats,, when i give updatenow then it only shows todays report , we cant find last 3 days report.
I just installed wine 1.1.2.3 and I tried to run pocket tanks 1.3, but it fails. I think it has to do with the offscreenrenderingmode and needs this [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareWineDirect3D] "OffscreenRenderingMode"="backbuffer" However, that winedirect3d does not exist. The only things that do are fonts, drivers and occasionaly X11 and temperorary system settings Where did it go? What, if anything, Should I do? I could be completely wrong. Anyone have pocket tanks running successfully?
No Boot started w/auto check of drives and it failed on my Virtual C: drive. I know,... but I edited /etc/fstab and now I have nothing available to get a command line. I have grub2 and don't know how or can't get to a boot menu either. Is this a reinstall?
I am using Dell Notebook model Inspiron 1420. I run Ubuntu 9.04. I've tried but failed to install SPSS Student Version 16 via Wine. There is a message saying the installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try to running installer with the -console or -silent flag. What is the silent flag?
I think from upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal. Whenever programs ask me to send reports (bug reports) they fail to redirect me to the proper launch pad bug report page. It just loads up my home page and acts like it's finished. Even if I have Firefox previously open, nothing happens.
Liferea was doing the same thing until I changed it from using the Gnome Default to Firefox. Perhaps this is a gnome default failure or something?
I am using CentOS 5 and have Jasper Reports installed and working with Apache ANT and Java JDK. Everything is building/running successfully, but when I do an "ant pdf" on one of the sample reports, it says "pdf BUILD SUCCESSFUL", but I can't find where it outputted to! I have tried the find command on everything under my /home/ directory.
I'm running F 13 and today's updates included updates to Xorg, so I logged out and back in to let them take effect. Ever since then, Firefox has been repeatedly crashing, especially on certain sites. I managed to get the crash reporting tool to report it to Bugzilla, but when I try to go back to add the bug report to this post, Firefox crashes, every single time. Has anybody else found this? If somebody can get to bugzilla.redhat.com and find the report (The email address I use there is joe@zeff.us if it helps.) I'd appreciate having it added as a response to this, so that others can find it and,

I occasionally see messages in my logwatch report then cannot find the actual log entry. Is there any way I can have logwatch give a clearer report?an example:
it's not a real bug/error in Ubuntu per se, but i found an error in the spanish language pack of Ubuntu. There were some words that weren't translated right.I was wondering how to report/change that.I actually found it in the Ubuntu 9.10 spanish language pack, so i don't know if it's been fixed for lucid, but i thought it would be good to know either way just in case i find some other translation errors.
After tweeking some graphics settings, and replacing some hardware, ubuntu won't boot. Being left in the X session (CTRL + ALT + f7), it's what looks like a log:
[Code]....
^ and that's where it hangs. So I went into ctrl alt f1, and logged in with my user/pass, and did the command: startx the screen flashes, and brings me back to a failed to open devices report.
[Code]....
I tried re-installing GDM, but turns out that the PC isn't actually online, hence unable to install GDM after uninstallation. So I downloaded the gdm .deb, and tried to install it from a USB flash drive, but I get dependency errors. I'm at a loss here, I could really use some help, this is the PC that has all my data on it, 450 GB +, I'd love to not have to transfer that over to a new installation!
Today, I try to update firefox by Package Updater but show error by bellow. "Missing Dependency: xulrunner >= 1.9.0.19-1 is needed by package firefox-3.0.19-1.el5.centos.x86_64 (CentOS5updates)"
Logwatch has been showing me there is kernal errors present on my server.Below is the full report from logwatch, please let me know if there is anything I should be aware of and fix.
