CentOS 5 :: 5.5 Kickstart %include Generated By %pre Script Ignored?

Nov 5, 2010

I'm trying to dynamically write command section stubs with a pre-script to be included via %include. The simplest of these contains the disk partitioning commands. Following the canonical examples,[URL].. for one, of this found in every source of documentation for RHEL/Fedora variants does not work. Anaconda attempts to prompt for interaction to get the partitioning scheme and a cmdline install stops with "In interactive mode parttype, can't continue". I've stripped things down to the following two cases:

%pre
cp /mnt/source/disks-ks.cfg /tmp/
%include /tmp/disks-ks.cfg
%post

Debian :: Tool For Squid Reports (not SARG) - Generate Less Amount Of Files - Optimal Is To Save Reports To The Database

May 9, 2011

I got the following task from my boss. I have to find out if there is some alternative tool for create reports from Squid except SARG. Now, we use SARG, but my boss told to me, that the main problem of SARG is, that SARG generate huge amount files, which cause problems during migration our servers. He told to me the following condition for change of current tool (SARG):

* standard package of Debian
* generate less amount of files, optimal is to save reports to the database

So I would like to ask you if you know about some tool (I can not find some by google)... and the best would be if you told to me some practical experiences.

CentOS 5 :: Passwordless Ssh Login From Windows - Uploaded The Generated File Id_rsa.pub To Server

Aug 22, 2009

I have an rsync server and am now setting up cwrsync on my windows machine. I want to be able to run cwrsync over ssh with public private keys. I followed a tutorial over here to set this up. It, however, still prompts me for server password and works only if I provide the password. For some reason the public/private key process is not working.

- I generated a key using the command: ssh-keygen -t rsa -N '' (I verified the key gets generated on my Windows machine)

- I uploaded the generated file id_rsa.pub to server /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

I am also prompted for a password if from command prompt I run this command to log into server: ssh -i c:docume~1user.sshid_rsa root@<server_ip_address> On server I have changed the configuration file (/etc/ssh/ssh_config) to say:

RSAAuthentication yes
PubkeyAuthentication yes

I then restarted the sshd service, however, to no avail.

Software :: Firefox And Wine Silently Fail To Open - Where Do Find An Error Report

Firefox 3.1 beta 3 won't load. When I open the application, the little bouncy icon bounces, and the task manager shows "Firefox Web Browser", but this only stays this way for about 15 seconds then just goes away. No error or anything.

I've had this identical problem when I try to open certain programs with Wine too. Is there some place I can find a detailed error report on these failures?

CentOS 5 Networking :: NIC Drops Packets / But Reports No Errors

Jul 24, 2009

I've got an odd one, running the CentOS 5.3 kernel, I'm experiencing lost packets on one of the two NICs when tested with ping. In this particular case, it's the internal NIC that causes the problem, pings from the CentOS machine to the public network over the external NIC never loses packets.(internet)<-->CentOS<--> (LAN) <--> desktop

- CentOS can ping the internet with no packet loss
- CentOS loses packets when pinging the desktop(s)
- Desktops lose packets when pinging the CentOS box
- Taking the LAN switch out of the equation still results in lost packets
- When the LAN NIC on the CentOS box "acts up", all desktops start losing packets

I've swapped out the NIC a few times for different makes/models, and I'm still getting lost packets to/from the internal network. So, I'm thinking that there's something squirrely going on higher up in the network stack. But evidently, not enough to log anything to the console or into the log files. At the moment, I'm leaning towards it being an issue with the nForce 750a SLI chipset. But it's odd that it only affects the LAN card and not the WAN card. I've even swapped the positions of the two NICs, and the problem persists on the LAN card. The other possibility is that iptables is eating packets silently, but in a random fashion.

I have setup sendmail to send any mails like this to my email address on a Windows machine. The problem is that there emails don't have a header which has the senders original email header. It comes from localhost on my sendmail. How can I get any mail generated from the apache site to ALSO send mail to root on the Centos Server? That way I should be able to see the header and report the spammer or block them.

CentOS 5 :: Centos 5.2 Installed On /dev/hda3, Won't Boot, Cant Find Grub Stage 2?

Nov 10, 2009

I just upgraded by box from Fedora Core 9 to Centos 5.2. Finally!I have a 500GB SATA drive, it's partitioned into three equal size slices, hda1 through 3. The old Fedora was on hda1, I installed the new Centos on hda3. I instructed the installer to write the MBR to /dev/hda, not /dev/hda3. Fdisk says I have sector 0 unused.First, the system wouldn't boot - it just looped through the BIOS, rebooting over and over again. The BIOS sees the disk, but it never loaded Grub. I tried re-running grub-install /dev/hda, and not I get a Grub Error 17 after stage 1.5 loads.

I can boot from rescue OK, the grub.conf man menu.lst look fine, it's pointing to "root (hd0,2)". It's either the BIOS that can't find the MBR, or the MBR can't find Grub. When I looked at the disk with fdisk after the install, hda1 was still marked bootable, hda3 was not, so I swapped bootable flags but that has not made a difference. I also appended the new grub to the old grub thinking I could get the MBR (if it is there) to load the old grub and thence find the new Centos, but that didn't work either.Mobo is an old Shuttle AK35.Any ideas? Did I mess up by not telling the system to put the MBR on /dev/hda3? Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

Programming :: Generated With The GPS Locations Of Certain Sites?

Aug 21, 2010

I am sitting here at my computer at 2:30am on a saturday morning with no idea what the hell im doing. But here's my goal I have a KML File for Google Earth. This file is generated with the GPS locations of certain sites.

I have a text file with extra information about certain sites. What i'm trying to figure out how to do is by using perl I want to open the text file grab the first location on line one and search for it in the KML file. When that line is found I want to edit the Description field in that KML file and add something to the description and change the placemark from Yellow to Blue.

Can anyone give me advice on the best way to handle this and where I can start. I can understand if nobody wants to give me the answer directly but I would like to be pointed in the right direction

There must be a valid routing decision made without the fwmark, selecting the right source address, even if the gateway ip is invalid.
