I am on 11.04. Firefox suddenly stopped working after reboot. I get the error message as shown in the enclosed screen shot. Have gone in to Synaptic Package Manager to remove FF and reinstall, but I still get the same messages.

I absoultely cannot figure this out... No matter which browser (FireFox, FireFox4, Seamonkey, etc) I try to use, I always get this error message:
Replace "seamonkey" with whichever browser stated previously.

Linux with Firefox In order to connect to a network share directly from you browser under Linux, you must configure Firefox to handle URL's starting with "smb://". im still trying to install firefox, and i just now tried the command
pacman -U firefox-*.pkg.tar.gz

My computer crashed awhile and lost windows. so my friends downloaded ubunbu 10.10 for me. from the get go i had this little red "do not enter" like sign at the top. it says An unresolvable problem occured while initiallizing package information. then went on a bit. blash blah blah and had this error message.

In My system I have installed 10.04 Ubuntu 64bit version recently. From the beginning itself, my web browser firefox crashed and disappeared very often in between my surfing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirefox 3.1 beta 3 won't load. When I open the application, the little bouncy icon bounces, and the task manager shows "Firefox Web Browser", but this only stays this way for about 15 seconds then just goes away. No error or anything.
I've had this identical problem when I try to open certain programs with Wine too. Is there some place I can find a detailed error report on these failures?
I am using Firefox and have done for a few years but just recently I find its running slow and this morning it crashed had to restart system FF is 3.5.9. What I want is what is a good un bloated browser Easy to use and Download helper can run on.

I tried firefox 3.6.x .3.5.x 4.x, perhaps it's necessary to know that I've GSB installed. I didn't understand this.
I always had the x86 installed on my laptop, but I figured for fedora 12 I would install the i386 version so I would only have to burn 1 disc (desktop needs i386). But the first few days, I couldn't open the firewall from the menu because it always crashed. From terminal no problem. This was with a couple of these standard gnome apps. With the 'autmatic bug reporting tool' I can now see how many times each program crashes. Samba still crashes every time I try to open it, python crashed, firefox loves to crash these days (with a flash open), amsn crashed a couple of times (empathy and telepathy-butterfly packages).Ofcourse I update my system every few days, so I have the latest updates of each package.

I installed "AMD/ATI Open Source Drivers" according to: "[URL] ....":
Reboot after "apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree", the system automaticly reboot after grub, then went black screen forever (no tty1,tty2.., seems cannot booting). I reinstalled serveral times but same problem (having tried both cd/live dvd, debian8.1/8.2).
It seems that "firmware-linux-nonfree" is the cause, since debian crashed once firmware-linux-nonfree installed.
The problem went away by installing ATIProprietary driver("[URL] ....").
PC is dell 9020, i7
Server - Ubuntu 10.04.1 lts
Client - Kubuntu 10.10
When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem.Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...

I installed the add-on Greasemonkey for Firefox and since then firefox won't open. If I try to open it on safe mode nothing comes up, it I try it a secont time it tells me that Firefox is already running and if I try to open it normally it shows it on the bottom as if it was opening and then it dissapears.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I recently installed, or.. ermm.. Tried to install Ubuntu 11.04, I did it with a CD. This is about my 4th time around with Ubuntu, so I'm not completely new to it. But, I used to have Windows 7 on here, and I decided I wanted to go with Ubuntu, so I downloaded and burned the CD, and did all the stuff you need to do to install Ubuntu. I got far into the installation, and then the installer crashed saying something about an Input/Output error, and it could be the CD being dirty or damaged.
Now, I'm stuck with a broken operating system because I chose to replace my Windows 7 partion with Ubuntu, and there's no terminal! Everything else seems to be here, it's just really buggy, and I can't get much of anything installed.
I upgraded to 11.04, but the updgrade crashed, and now it has some errors with Unity crashing every time I open a terminal. Is there any way to re-install without having to reconfigure all my programs? I am running a dual-boot.

Here's what happened- I accidentally changed permissions after getting a virus. I then tried to do a system restore and during that process the computer crashed. When I try to boot to windows in every possible mode, I am always left with the dreaded blue screen of death.

When I try to install to hard drive, I get as far as choosing storage, then it examines storage devices and closes. I get an error that says a package has crashed. View 2 Replies View RelatedI was updating the security updates in my deskptop. It did not executed successfully even after 7 hours. It remain just like hang up. So I switched off the PC and rebooted. Then it is showing the error: "udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured. Gave up waiting for root device."
Now my Lucid Linx is almost dead. There is also no 'Repair' option while booting from Ubuntu 10.04 CD. Pl help to restore it.
I been running both OS's for a few months now with no major problems besides wireless internet issues. Today, however, as I go to boot my laptop up, the Dell logo loads with the F2 and F12 boot and setup options which both work. Directly after that though I get the message "GRUB loading. Symbol '?' not found. Aborted. Press any key to Exit." then it repeats when I push a key, and then it tells me to press F1 to retry, F2 to go to setup, or F5 to run diagnostics. It passes all the tests in diagnostics. I've tried booting off of the ubuntu cd I used to load it initially with no luck. So I'm stuck at either that error message or in setup but I can't go any further, and it does not change anything when I tried to boot from the cd.

I'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?
